Okay...I bought these shoes because I thought it was a good hiking brand, and they looked nice. I was going hiking in Volcano, HI, and I wanted to get a new pair of shoes for the trip. I wore them twice walking around the block, and they felt fine. So, now in Hawaii, and on my first hike of the trip and we were going into the volcano caldera. There was a steep descent, so I tie my shoes appropriately. As I'm tying the shoe, the string tab popped and broke!! So now, my laces are uneven, but I have no choice to go forward. The next day, on the second hike of the day, another tab broke!! It broke on the same shoe! Now it was not safe for me to wear them. Luckily, I had another pair of lace shoes with me, but they are tennis shoes, so not much traction there, but I wore them and was extra careful hiking in them. When I looked closer at the design of this shoe, it looked like the tabs were only glued in, the tabs were not stitched in. So, there is clearly a flaw in the design. One lesson here: only buy shoes that have the string holes, with much added strength, no more tabbed lace holders at all, not ever! And these shoes are super expensive, and did not last and put a damper on my hiking gear attire. Please don't purchase these shoes, I'd hate for this to happen to you!

These shoes fit great and were comfortable, right out of the box. This is my 4th pair of Lowas, and I am not disappointed. They are the most comfortable shoes I own.

These fit well as I would expect from Lowa. This is my fourth pair of Lowa boots/shoes and I have had good luck with them so far. The footbed in these could be a little softer though, so I may opt to change the foot beds but for now I am wearing them in the house to see how they feel. My feet have gotten harder to please as time goes on! These are well made, sturdy and nice looking hiking shoes and I think they will stand up well. I love Lowa shoes.

I wear 8.5 or 9, depending on the shoe. The size 9 in this shoe was slightly too small for me. Also, the soles squeak.
