Too small for anything. Wouldn't fit my text books or a binder, barely even my laptop. Had to get an adidas one that was bigger and sturdy. This would be alright for an overnight bag or maybe a daytime hike, but not good for regular school use.

It's poorly designed, you kinda have to dumb everything in it as if you're filling up a container. For me I had to put my stuff in layers. Secondly, the front pocket is on the top which makes it hard to use, if you put your stationery and cell phone charger there it won't let you put stuff in the main partition/pocket. Really disappointed!

This is an awkward backpack. The front pocket is only half the height of the bag. If you fill it with small things it will weigh down the top of the bag. The side bottle holders could be a bit wider and stretchier, if the main bag is full then you can't use those side compartments easily. The big compartment zipper doesn't zip open enough either. I am returning this bag. Looks like great quality, just poor design. I will likely try a different backpack in hopes that its designed better.

I'm a college student, so I put my laptop and a notebook in this backpack. After a little over a year, the zipper completely unraveled from the backpack. It did not rip off; there are threads dangling from the zipper seam. It was so poorly made that it didn't even last through two years of use. Do NOT waste your money.

Ripped after 3 months of use by my daughter. Tools it to the North Face store and they refused to cover it under warranty. So much for the warranty!

I strongly do not recommend this product. I purchased this backpack less than one year ago for school because it was the backpack that everyone had, so I assumed that it must be good. It was not. It is so small. It only fits two of my binders, and the design is poor and it makes it hard for me to get anything out of it. After a few months, the zipper started to give out. I contacted the company, and they said it would take 2 months to repair. I am in school, however, and need a backpack so now I have to use the broken backpack safety-pinned together. I strongly recommend not purchasing this backpack as it is very expensive and will be a waste of money!!!

I use this product for school. I only put my laptop and notebooks in it (it's too small for most of my textbooks). I've had it less than a year and it has already ripped at the seam of the zipper. Extremely disappointed in the quality and would not recommend to anyone.

I use this bag for school. As a high school student with tons of books binders and folders this does not cover it. It is way too small. I absolutely hate it. I end up carrying so much stuff because I can't fit anything in this bag. I wish I got the borealis.

I'm a nursing student and needed an upgrade from my very old north face I was previously using. I thought this moderately priced one would be fine. Since all my books are electronic, I only have to carry a laptop, a planner and accordion folder. This backpack is so small, it barely accommodates these items and it's a struggle to get things in and out because it's such a tight fit. The zipper is also poorly designed because the teeth are so sharp that when I'm pulling something out, it literally scratches my skin. Also it has two side mesh pockets for drinks or an umbrella or the lime and it can only hold one at a time because it's such a tight fit for everything else. My walk from my car to school is about 8 minutes and by the time I get there, my shoulders and back are in pain. This backpack was too expensive to throw it away but I would NOT recommend this to anyone.

Purchased this backpack for college and walking to classes from apartment. The shoulder straps are so thick and stiff it rubbed exposed skin raw and caused shoulders to hurt from wearing it.

I bought this jester as a gift to someone because I had one myself.. I did not know the women's jester would just be poorly designed from the interior front pocket did not fully extend to the bottom it stopped half way. For it to be the same price as Men's jester backpack is just ridonculous. Also one of the adjustable straps was not stitched, it just came as if. I was happy when it came in the mail, but unpleased when my girlfriend & I unbocked it. The Men's jester backpack still goes hard tho. I'd recommend the women's jester for a middle schooler.

This bag is far too small for my books and binders and even my 32 oz. water bottle barely fits in the side pocket. Super uncomfortable and has caused me lots of hassle. Would return if I had the receipt.

I recently replaced my Jester backpack and was interested in the new redesign. Unfortunately I will be returning my new backpack after one use because of the useless design changes. First, the side pockets are too deep for my large water bottle and keys. They sink to the bottom, and it is impossible to reach the bottom without losing half my arm. The previous pockets were perfectly deep enough to hold my belongings without them slipping out. I am not sure why the pockets need to be half the height of the entire backpack. What are people putting in these 9" pockets? Baseball bats? Moreover, the front pocket redesign is also useless. The previous design had a full-length front pocket, which was perfect for holding items I did not want to lose in the main pocket. Since the front pocket only fills half the backpack's length, a large bulge is created in the top of the backpack. This causes the weight of pens and chargers to sit at the top of the backpack - which is heavy on the back and makes the Jester topple over easily. There is also now a strange bulge seen from the exterior of the backpack at the top, which just looks like I have crammed all my belongings into a short pocket at the top. I am left with a large empty base in the main compartment where the old front compartment once filled. I really wish the front pocket went through the entire backpack to prevent uneven weight distributions and to divide my belongings more evenly. Needless to say, I don't believe this backpack's redesign was thoroughly tested.

I was super excited to receive this bag, since a lot of other people in my school have them. Received it on my front step, with the bag completely ripped open. The bag itself was way too small and could barely fit the small amount of books I bring with me. The front pocket only goes halfway down (not great for storage and could barely fit anything in it). It also bulges out into the main pocket, making it difficult to reach anything on the inside. The straps are extremely uncomfortable and I could feel my back aching just walking around the house. Extremely disappointed in this product.

I bought this bag to use as a school bag. I thought that it would be very big so that I would have enough room for all of my books, folders, and notebooks. Now after only a month of school, I absolutely hate it! It is very uncomfortable, the straps are to thick and hard and the backing on the bag is to hard also. I also don't like how hard it is to get a book out of the bag. Definitely would not recommend this to anyone else.

Purchased as a replacement for my Jansport Hatchet backpack, but once it arrived, I realized that it was much too small. The images on the website are deceiving, it looks much larger than it actually is. The front small pocket does not actually do all the way down the front of the backpack, and anything you put in there takes away space from the main pocket. After realizing it was to small, I sent it back, but am yet to receive a refund for my return. Very disappointed with my purchase.

Bought the jester backpack on line for my daughter as a school backpack. Not a good choice for school as the backpack design does not work for her age as an 11 year old. The straps are so thick that. The backpack put pressure on her shoulders. I tried it myself and felt the same experience. Not sure if hiking would create a different result. We brought Jansport instead and it hold her laptop and lunch etc way better. The customer service at the Bellevue Store for returning the backpack was not good. I had the original return slip and order my emailed receipt and the warranty paper. The return policy stated it could be returned at any store, however, the Bellevue Sqare Mall North Face store said they can't return the backpack becuase I did not have the little tag that had the SKU. The employee told us he would be wasting our time to try and figure it out, so I asked if I could get a bag from them to mail it back and then all of a sudden they are able to return it. It was not a pleasant experience as the manager said out of his mouth that company policy states that stores can return products in the store, but the stores themselves do not. That is super confusing so would I recommend buying the backpack. No.

I recently purchased a new Jester backpack since my previous one was worn out, with a hole in the bottom. The old design had a zipper and small pockets in the main pouch area. This made it convenient to access books and pencils in the same area. The old one also had a much bigger front pouch. Since the new design has a smaller pouch at the top of the backpack, anything you put in it makes it top heavy and makes the top portion drop to the ground when the backpack is open. The new design also has unusually large side pockets. Original design was so much better!!

I bought this backpack around January but unfortunately it got stolen on a trip. I currently bought a new jester but I hate this new design. The drink holders are so HUGE! I also miss how much room the front pocket had. When I wear this back back I feel like it's giant and the padding in the straps is so hard. Bring back the old design !!!

The straps feel like sandpaper rubbing against your skin. I wish they were any other material.
