I was hoping these shorts would cut 15-seconds off my mile splits but it turns out they’re just apparel and per Nike support, I’m still going to need to “put time in with drills and trails to see those results.” That said, they do fit well and function nicely as running shorts. On the downside, they lack a dedicated key pocket like the 7” Challenger shorts. This isn’t a big deal for me since I’m usually out with a flip belt; but if you prefer to stash anything in the shorts themselves, you might need to make alternate plans or get a sewing machine with proper instruction. Also, the hand pockets on these shorts will generally, and reliably, eject your cell phone whenever you sit down; so be careful with that unless you prefer phones with shattered glass. In summary, if I’m doing a destination run or planning to grab a beer in town afterward where I need to interact with the general public, I’ll usually use the 7” shorts as they are more suitable for holding valuables in pockets. If I’m doing longer training runs or tempo stuff I’ll use these 5” Challengers or my xc shorts for the greater range of motion. Enjoy your time out there!

The 5" hem is helpful for running. I prefer the shorter running shorts for leg movement and be able to wear the shorts for yoga and stretching. The liner is definitely more tight than other Nike shorts that I have. The tighter liner is REALLY supportive and does not allow for man parts to move around. However, it is tight to the point of where Nike should reconsider making it this tight again.

Overall good running shorts after I sent the first pair back and got the next size up from what I normally wear.
These shorts run small. I had to order the next size up to be comfortable, otherwise the liners are to tight & smash your junk!
Photo shows other Nike shorts compared to Challenger.

I returned this item for one simple reason -- it has a liner. There is a question posted that asks, "does this have a liner?" The answer posted is, "no." That is wrong. It DOES have a liner and that was a dealer breaker for me. Zappos may want to update the answer to that question. It would have stopped me from ordering in the first place and save both of us time and money.

I orders the shorts medium size (my waist is 31”) the inner is too small, changes then for size large and the interior is still too small.

I ordered the "Equator Blue/Equator Blue/Equator Blue" shorts but the color looked Aqua Green. Very disappointed by this.

I do not like the way these shorts fit at all. The liner is WAY to small & tight, very poor design, just like other reviews state. I had to return them for a different brand!
