These shoes were surprisingly lightweight. They were purchased for my husband, so I can’t rate on fit and comfort, but they are super attractive and better looking in person.

For the price, you can't beat it! I'm an avid runner averaging about 20-25 miles per week. Having just retired a pair of Adidas Pure Boost, and these felt comparable. I usually wear a size 9, and the toe box felt a bit narrow, but the 9.5 fit well despite an extra half inch in front. They definitely feel lighter than the Pure Boost, but with that comes slightly less stability. The wide bottom platform of the Pure Boost is the only feature I would like to see added to the Downshifter. The downshifter has a stiff glide, stable support, and quick response without impeding contact with the ground. It's easy on the heels, but doesn't interfere with a mid- to front-foot strike if that's your running style. A good shoe at a great price, I highly recommend it.

I thought this style would be a perfect "activity" sneakers for everyday walking, working out, and casual wear - so I selected it. The product arrived quickly and exactly as I ordered it, and the shoes were high quality and perfect in appearance. I did not like the style however. What isn't clear from the photos is how deep the ankle cut-a-way is. I get it; it's a running shoe and it's intended to prevent ankle chafing. But it is a seriously deep cut-a-way. It is barely one inch above the inner sole surface. This give you the feeling that your foot is coming out of the shoe. It's very odd, and unlike any sneaker I have ever worn. It also doesn't look very good when you're wearing it. It leaves a considerable gap under your ankle bone. This won't dissuade me from Nike - I love Nike products. This style, however, ...leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion.

We ordered the 4E width and I worried it would be too wide, as we usually order a EE, but it was actually very narrow, more like a regular D width. We ordered two pairs, different colors, but they’re very narrow.

I like these shoes pretty well. They're nicer than the similarly priced reebok running shoes I usually wear. There's not a lot of padding but that's okay since they are meant to be lightweight shoes. These shoes are far less breathable than other shoes I've worn, and tightening the laces so that my feet fit snuggly in the shoes makes my feet feel suffocated.

This is my 3rd generation of Downshifters and the most comfortable yet. I need a shoe that’s flat and without a high arch support and this shoe feels great. I just ordered my second pair.

My husband liked these but found them a bit rigid. Overall he preferred the Revolution 4’s to these.

They shouldn't skim on the material. The eyelets closer to the ankle should be given longer materials so inserting the foot does not overstretch the eyelets and destroy them. See where the flap is? That part should be sewn into the sole. However, the material is too short so the threads can't sew on it. If Nike has given a few millimeters to the fabric, the shoe would work fine. The right shoe is fine, but the left won't hold up to heavier activities. Also, notice how both shoes have labels under the tongue? Should've used that money on the materials. I'll return this pair.

I bought two pairs of these for my husband and he really likes them. He says they fit true to size and are comfortable to walk long distances in.

I usually wear an 11 in dress shoes but read up on Nike and found that their shoes tend to run a bit small (as has been said for many running shoe brands) so I went with an 11.5 and it was the right choice!

Very comfortable for running and training. I use these exclusively as gym shoes, and they are fantastic on the treadmill and cycling machines. Superb traction on pavement as well. Very bad on ice and slippery surfaces, so if there’s ice on the ground or a wet floor, you better be careful.

Great fit for my dad!! He said they are very supportive and run true to size. He's not a runner or anything, but he said these are comfy while he's walking around all day. They look very nice too, great price point for a nike sneaker.

these are for my 15-year-old son. he was having a hard time with narrow shoes hurting his big toe. i got these in an extra wide, and they are great. they sound like they would look huge, but they don't. i think a lot of toeboxes today are too narrow for growing feet. good buy for $45.

14 year old loves them and they have lasted well. They are lightweight but sturdy. They don't get as stinky as heavier shoes.

Excellent!! If your a Runner looking for a competitive and training shoe this is it. I loved the feel of the shoe right from the beginning. The width (4E) was comfortable and the depth of the heel seemed to have the arch fall and supported. The mid and forefoot traction was excellent and responsive when you have to kick it up. I was surprise how much ankle area seemed to hug the heel of my foot and support the overall ankle for such a light shoe. I use this shoe all types of terrain, trails, hills, grass and asphalt and it never fails to grip even on wet surfaces. I have bought the 7 and 8 models of the down shifters for me and my wife. She loves the shoe as much as I do, I realized lately we have started to just wear them everywhere. As a life long distance runner I have always had separate shoes for different actives. I find that I want these shoes on my feet for nearly ever thing I do . The price in beyond great, I think I'll start stocking up on the down shifter.
