Once I got my dog in and settled he seemed to enjoy it and now whenever I put the bag on the ground he stands on top of it. That being said, it's very uncomfortable to carry. The waist strap is just a strap (no padding) and the shoulder strap padding is pretty limited. The bag is heavy + my dog = a fairly unpleasant experience. I can't imagine actually carrying my dog anywhere with this for a significant distance, I would only use it to take him on the subway but in that case I'd rather just keep a tote in my main timbuk2 bag to use on the subway.

If you're just taking your pup from one place to another, then this could be the bag for you. When I'm taking my dog on the train or bus, we're usually going somewhere to DO something. While there's a handy collapsible water dish, there's no place at all to hold a water bottle. Some loops or SOMETHING on the bottom to roll up a mat for Abi would have been fantastic. So it's serviceable as a commuter dog carrier. You're gonna want another bag to do much more with your dogso why bother with this one?

I received the Muttmover in a medium size but it was much smaller than I thought it would be. The description says that it would hold a pet up to 25 lbs but I really don't see how. The bag is big enough to carry my 3 lb chihuahua and can only see it carrying a pet only a little bigger than her for the pet to comfortable. Not something that I would get again.

I purchased this for my toy poodle. The bag is too bulky and large for my frame. It was also too big for my dog. The bottom of the bag would sag forward where the dogs weight was and it made it even more uncomfortable. I think a larger dog would solve that issue. I'd return it if I could but bought it on final sale.

I loved the old version. I liked the fabric, the bottom pocket, that it was pretty rain tight. My only two issues had been the size was very tight unless you had a dog under 7 lbs. The second issue was that the front pouch was perfect for an iPad but not laptop.
I've had this new version (small version) since it first came out, literally the first day it was at stores. I was very excited by the new one's size and laptop pouch. But it failed in all the ways I loved in the old.
I use this literally every day to take my dog to work via the bus or my motorcycle. I take my laptop and occasionally for other items. I always bring my dog.
In this new version the material doesn't seem as durable, the zippers are both not water tight and they are always getting stuck. I spend too much time trying to get them to slide. The placement of the smaller pocket is up high and so if you put a bunch of stuff in it, when you open the bag the front section falls over. Also, closed the whole bag falls over.
The magnetic cover for the laptop pouch section isn't helpful. Overall the bag feels so much heavier and kills my back and looks like I have luggage on my back rather than the old one which looked and felt like a backpack.
I do like the mesh, zipper openings on both sides. I like that the water bottle pouch is larger. I just wish it was on both sides. The roominess for my dog is good (she is 7 lbs.)
I think the product team has a great idea but they lost a bunch of what was good about it in the original version which I had for years.

I used this product with a 5 pound chihuahua! She wasn't a happy camper being put inside the backpack! As she went to one side of the pack, I felt very uncomfortable for her! She cried the entire time while I tested out this pack!

I guess I bought the wrong size, but this bag is enormous and super heavy and totally not practical.
I love Timbuk2 generally as the quality is so amazing and the bags last so long, but this one is impossible for me to use. I tried to see if I could exchange for a smaller bag, but I guess it was final sale.

This bag would be cool but way too big! I read reviews for this same bag & people say how they put their 10 lb doggy in there...I don't see how, it's super overwhelming & cumbersome. There seems to be no return available which does not seem fair. I'll have to look for another bag elsewhere. I wanted to love this bag but can't. Thank you.

It's an excellently made item but doesn't work for me and my non-flexible mini- dachshund. I discovered this immediately and didn't even take the tags off, packed it to send back for refund only to be told there's no refund/no return on it. Apparently the listing said this but I didn't notice. So no, I don't recommenced this product despite the high quality workmanship.

After just a month of use, my key question is, why did Timbuk2 farm out the design? I mean, they must have; there are too many flaws compared to the other seven of their bags I own. The water dish they were nice to have added is permanently flat, useless, as it won't hold more than two ounces of water. And the sleeve to put your water bottle in? Almost big enough for a growler. Nothing small stays put. My Hydroflask fell out every time I tried to use it. And poor options (almost none) for rolling up a mat for my dog. What happened guys?!!? I was excited about how this would make commuting to Portland with my dog a breeze. Instead It's a hassle. See my pictures. Don't buy this.

I wish I could put minus 10 stars or more. my dogs weight is just 15lb I just used 3 months and zipper is jammed and inside part undone .
I contact the costumer service they told me I have to pay shipping ? why it is just 3 months old back pack.
why you don't send me a new one?
Do you guys start making packs broken with in 1 month? is your product made by paper or something?
I own more than 6 Timbuk2 product my life and over 20 years ago when I called the guy was so nice and he sent to me a catalog free of charge. at that moment I fall in love you guys but now that is history
I am so disappointed and I will never ever buy anything form you rest of life

I have been using the second generation muttmover to carry my dog around for a couple of years now, and thought it was pretty much the perfect dog carrying backpack. The only thing I really longed for was a waist strap to transfer the weight onto my hips, as I cycle 22 miles round trip daily to work with my 8.5kg / 18.7 lb cavalier king charles spaniel.
When I saw this new version I thought my prayers had been answered. What a huge disappointment!
The design is fairly similar, but the bag is made out of far FAR less sturdy materials, so the bag does not keep its shape at all when being worn. The bag sags under the weight of its load, and this causes discomfort for both dog and human. Even with the waist strap this version pulls more on my shoulders than the previous version without a waist strap.
The previous muttmover is a 5 star product, but this version is unusable.
I shall continue to use the muttmover 2 which I love, and hope that when the 4th version comes out they address these vital design flaws.
