Plastic box strapping. You know, those thick straps used to bind heavy boxes during shipping. The leather on these sandals is that stiff and dry and sharp. When I adjusted the buckles, the leather developed white stress lines. And the toe contours hit in the wrong spot on my toes making the footbed pretty miserable. I didn't even want to walk to the mirror in these sandals. Back to the drawing board for the perfect brown sandal.

i tried three different versions of birkenstock sandals and settled on these, with the metallic silver colorway. NOTE: the description says that the upper is "supple premium leather". nope. definitely plastic on top of some sort of felt underlayer. it both looks and feels plasticy, and that really brings down the overall style of the sandal. it makes it look cheap in my opinion. however, i plan to cover most of the toe straps with enormous raffia pom poms, so i decided that the cheap factor didn't count as much this time. i do appreciate that you can adjust the tightness of both the ankle and the toe straps. the style of the footbed is visually lighter and less clunky looking than traditional birkenstocks. that is a plus in my books. also, i wanted a slight heel that also felt very stable when walking. this sandal definitely has that.

Growing up in Germany I know about the quality emphasis on healthy feet Birkenstock represents. I have always owned Birkenstocks. I saw these sandals with a slight heel and thought they looked cute and different. I have fairly slim feet and high arches. I always get the 38 narrow if I can. these fit perfectly out of the box and they are light and super comfortable. Hope this type of Birkenstock sandal for women will be available in lots of colors because I would buy many more !!

Wow - these are so comfortable and look amazing! They require no breaking in. Size down a half size from what you normally wear. I normally wear and 8 and orders the 7/7.5.

this style was not narrow enough for my AA foot. I wanted something with more of a heel. Mayari is the only Birkenstock that is narrow enough for me

I'm a birkenstock girl - i spend most of my life in birks - but these just weren't comfortable when I put them on. It was too hard to tell how they'd break in, and they didn't feel like they'd offer as much arch support as I was looking for, so I decided to return them.

Had to go down a size to get a shorter length. They were too long. I have wide feet because of 2 bunions. My heel area is not wide so they fit perfectly. the straps cover the bunion. The straps are soft and comfortable. Love these . Love

Well, I ended up needing to get a 7-7.5 even though I usually wear an 8.5. That size fits like a glove. I love them. I think the 8-8.5 that I got originally was more like a 9.

I was disappointed. These were not as quality as my other Birkenstock’s. I liked how they looked but didn’t work for my feet.

I love these! Took two pair to get the correct size for me but once I did they fit great. I normally wear a 40 in Birkenstock's but these fit me better in the 39. They are SOOO comfortable. The wedge is just the right height to give a little dressiness but not enough to make walking in them uncomfortable at all. As a matter of fact I can't even tell there is a bit of a heel when I have them on. Would love these in other colors. I got the black which I needed but I would love if they made these in a red or blue or some fun colors. If they do I will definitely buy another pair.

I love these! I need a sandal that has good arch support and these are it. Not only that but they are also very cute. Can be dressed up or down. You can't go wrong with Birkenstock!

Very comfortable and nice enough style.

My arches are very flexible and very high. This resulted in really bad Plantar Fasciitis about nine months ago. I haven't had a bad flair up in a few months, but I've been exclusively wearing highly supportive sneakers with my custom orthotics since the flair up. These sandals, along with a couple other models by Birkenstock, have been my cautious attempts at trying shoes other than my clunky sneakers. I've worn this pair to work twice, where I stand quite a bit, and I've been pain free. I didn't even wear them in first, which I've had to with other Birkenstocks. Something about the arch support combined with the heel height has been perfect for me. I've tried three colors, and kept the gold. My toes (like all of me) tend to get very pink, which is not flattering. I have noticed that warmer colors work better at not exaggerating the redness, and the gold fits the bill. They look cute, not like orthopedic shoes, which I appreciate.

Everything fit perfectly. The only thing that concerned me was the name on the shoe box wasn't Birkenstock. Are Birkenstock and papillio the same? Thank you Lisa

These shoes are really cute and comfortable! I don’t consider my feet as narro but also not wide and I have plenty of room! May eventually have to tighten straps as I think that a size smaller might be too short. Overall a great purchase that I will be able to wear with a wide variety of clothes.

My favorite sandal in YEARS.

This is a great, attractive shoe. But it’s not for me. The description implied that the narrow width was not really narrow and would work for a wider foot. I ordered my regular Birkenstock length 39 and also a 40, hoping that one would work for me. But narrow is narrow. I need my regular Birkenstock wide. I’m sorry that this shoe doesn’t come in the wide width because I think I’d love it if it did.

I was so hopeful that these shoes would fit my size 5 feet in the 36 which is supposed to be a 5-5.5. No way!! I would need a 35 and they don't make a 35 in any cute styles. What are those of us with small feet supposed to do??

Pinched at the toes, unlike other Birkenstock sandals. Had to return them because comfort is paramount!

Yea, these "narrows" aren't really narrow. I did adjust the straps but then they cut across my toes at weird places. I wanted to love them (they were cute) but fit terribly!

Normally I'm enthusiastic about Birkenstock shoes, and these are super cute, but they had a strange quirk. On the inside of the strap, where the buckle is attached, there is a very rough patch that feels almost like velcro. The attachment of the buckle is sewn through the strap, naturally, but the inside isn't finished very well, and the heavy stitching leaves a scratchy plastic square that definitely rubs against the foot. It's such an odd, cheap, obvious design flaw, I'm surprised anyone can wear these without creating big raw patches on their feet.

I bought a 36 hopefully they would fit but they were almost a half inch too long but the perfect width. I usually wear a 5.5/6 but these were too long to keep. I really need a 35.. so sad this style isn't made that small..I really loved the look.

These are supper cute! Very well made. Nice leather. Just enough heal, maybe an inch and a half, and true to size. I almost always wear an 11 med width. These fit very good. I always look for straps that can be tightened across my foot near my toes. I have a narrow instep. These can be adjusted to fit my foot. Love them.

I have very narrow, skinny feet and these are just the right fit. I love that you can adjust all the straps as well.
