I've worn the older version of these (Kailash GTX) for the past 10 years (4 pairs). These are similar in fit and break-in, requiring just a few hikes to be comfortable. The construction is excellent and even better than the older model, with few seams in areas prone to abrasion. In my job as a field biologist I usually wore out the Kailash GTX within 2 years, and I'll be interested to see how these hold up. Given their sturdy all-leather construction, I suspect they will last at least as long as the older version.

These shoes are not wide enough. When I measured the width at heel and forefoot they measured closer to standard "D" size. Perhaps the EU or Italian foot runs narrower, but they are clearly not as wide as other company's dimensions.

I buy mens shoes because I have long narrow feet. Mens are usually a bit wide. These however run narrow for mens so they are perfect for me. I added better insoles as arch support was lacking. I’m excited to get out and hike in these.

I just purchased these and wore them on a moderate hike in the White Mountains, with quite a bit of rough trails and steep rock scrambling. They performed great. I ordered the 43 (10) and 43.5 (10.3). Other reviewers noted that they ran a bit small and I also found this to be the case. They also seem a bit narrower than some other boots although this is not a problem for me. I chose these because they seemed like a great value, being not as heavy-duty as a full-grain leather backpacking boot, but more durable than many light hiking boots. I read that nubuck leather tends to be stronger than suede and synthetic, but it is lighter weight than full-grain. Also, the midsole is polyurethane, which is reputed to be more durable than the EVA used in cheaper boots. I purchased these in anticipation of an 8-day backpacking trip in Vermont. I almost went with the Asolo full-grain leather boot, which would have been more durable and had a better two-year warranty, but ultimately I chose this Kailash Plus because I loved the well-rounded durability combined with great comfort and light weight. I'm very happy with my decision so far. Finally, I like the understated look of this boot compared to the over-styling of many other models.
I'd also recommend:
Asolo, Zamberlan, Lowa, Hanwag, or other resolable brand

This boot feels great from the get go. I usually get the scarpa Kailash trek but wanted to try the leather scarpa. These scarpa boots last a long time and take allot of punishment. Even after they are wore out support is still good. Great product.

I haven’t put this boot through its full paces yet, but so far I’m impressed. It has a good amount of stability in the ankle without being too stiff. The sole inspires confidence in uneven and rocky terrain. I had to order a half size larger than my normal size but this was to make sure to avoid too smashing on downhill hikes. Also, my foot is narrow and though I usually wear normal width shoes, in this boot the width runs a little on the narrow side which is perfect for me. Your results on fit may vary. It took me several tries to find the right size, but after one outing I am impressed with the fit and function. Will take a little bit of breaking in but it doesn’t seem like it will be a lot.

This is my favorite Scarpa boot so far. It affords confidence on & off trail hiking. That said my aging feet will need more cushoning from after market footbed. Also I bruised my outside lower small ankle bone the fibular on a rock or something on my first hike. I will enjoy these boots but not purchase them again. My lower ankle in these boots needs more protection. Maybe a cobblers rear boot insert strip for added cushioning protection will do.

I have never seen a negative review of SCARPA, Just discontinued products.
I do not like their narrower laces.
I do not like their narrower VIBRAM soles. Almost a 1/4 20 3/8 less width footprint than most boots.
By European standards 2.4-upward leather thickness is considered backpacking norm.
What's up with all this 1.8mm thickness on boot leather?

This is a solid hiker but the felt too wide for my overpronation. I would have kept them if not for that. I like the Scarpa Terra GTX a lot more because of its arch support. If that isn't a concern, these are a solid choice.

I have seen slippers & rock climbing shoes with a larger vibram footprint. The narrow unconventional dress shoe laces a uncomfortable to the fingers when tying. You cannot sacrifice function for weight reduction faux pas! It's almost a formal dress boot.
