Though I ended up returning these boots, I felt like I should write a brief review. I ordered 5 pairs of hiking boots including these Scarpa Boots. I just wanted to emphasize that the build quality was GREAT and they felt and looked very rugged and that they could withstand a lot of abuse. I chose to return them because "Boots" just didn't sit well with me and I went back to trail runners but boy did I want to keep these!

I've been wearing this boot for years, this would have been my 4th pair of the older style Kailash GTX that came in tan. The gray is fine, the blue is just okay, but these are just tastes, so you decide. The previous versions of the Kailash to me were very tight, which I came to enjoy, but putting this new version on feels like the old boot feels after you wore it all day, took it off, then put it back on 15 minutes later. I am totally sold on this and will continue to purchase until they make this version something that I don't like. For now, a total must buy if you're looking for the old Kailash, you won't be disappointed.

Boot fits excellent. The toe box is a little larger than expected but is very welcome. For a new boot it feels broken in out of the box.

Great pair of hiking boots. I order a half size up for this brand and they fit me just right. They are comfortable right out of the box. They are a little stiff at first as they should be. I really liked my Scarpa Zen's and they lasted a few years, so I had go with this brand again and I am glad I did.

They feel great. Feels like I’ve had them for months , all broke in .I’ve had a lot of Scarpa shoes and they all been really great.

Fit well, light and comfortable & looks good.

My daughter has long feet that are on the narrow side, and these boots were a lifesaver for us! We tried so many women’s boots with no luck and were about to give up when I ran across the Kailash on a list of best men’s hiking shoes for narrower feet. We had been warned away from men’s hiking boots because they are usually wide compared to women’s shoes, but these run a little narrow. They fit her perfectly and have held up really well!

This boot is ready to hike in the day you get them. I have worn out two pairs in the last 5 years. They take a ton of punishment and keep on going. They keep great support. The gortex in them must be good as well because even when they appear to be wore out they keep your feet dry. Can’t beat the scarpa boot.

I consider these a true improvement over the previous (cigar) Kailash version, primarily for the improved lacing fitments. more supportive collar, and the superb biometric outsole; I love this sole! I got hooked on it with the passé Scarpa Zanskar. Too bad that boot is no longer available; it was a terrific leather boot for weaker (previously sprained) ankle in particular. Sizing: I had to go with a 45 wide to get the fit I require, which fits similarly (for me) to the Scarpa SL Activ last; a last that’s designed for more toe-box space. I wear a 44.5 (11)W in most other shoes. If you are a full D width, I think you’ll need the wide version of this boot vs. the standard, and perhaps a 1/2 size above your normal fit. It’s a close call on these points, but it matters in a boot of this quality and purpose. Best to try two sizes if in doubt.

First, Zappos service is outstanding. Pretty amazing to get boots delivers next day. For the boots, I went off of Zappos recommendation for size (44.5) which turned out to be slightly small. I think some of that is due to the narrowness of the boot. If you have a slightly wide foot, I’d suggest going up one half size in the European sizing since this boot doesn’t appear to come in a wide. Boot quality appears good.
