This was for my 12 year old daughter with autism who goes to a special school that spends a lot of time outside. She is very fair and covers her well! She loves this hat!

We received this hat at the beginning of May, and I wore it to the beach four times (on the same trip). That's the only time I had worn it. Today, I took it out fishing, and the seam on the front started to pull away from the top part, leaving a big hole in the hat! I am SO bummed! I, in no way, put this hat through any abuse or demanding physical conditions. I wore it a few times sitting on the beach and thought it would be perfect for fishing this evening. I was not expecting this kind of quality issue with an Outdoor Research product. I'm hoping that I just got a dud.

Best upf sun hat on the market, hands down. It keeps you protected and cool. I love the lilac color!

Love it! M fit perfect with my curly head, but a large would make it so I could wear my headphones. I will probably order a different color for backpacking, but my purple one is fun in the garden and keeps me covered up. High quality, good looking and will be my hat for years.

The hat band is adjustable from the outside, the chin strap is also adjustable and removable (both important in a breeze). The brim is made of a foam that keeps its shape and provides excellent shade. I have trouble with 'new' clothes and the finish on them, I generally wash everything before I wear it. The water beads up on this hat. It's more than a sun hat, it'll work in the rain, too!

This goes on my head every time I walk out the door and into the back yard/garden. Brim is roughly 3.25" in the front and 4.25", so it does a good job keeping the sun off my face and neck. (Note that it does not work well for me with a pack because of the back brim. (It only at this moment occurred to me to don it backwards, so maybe it might?)) Only downside - which actually bothers me a bit, oh vanity - is that while the small seems to fit perfectly (my measurement is 21.5" circumference), the seam from the brim leaves a pronounced horizontal indentation on my forehead. This indentation lasts for more than an hour after removing the hat! I've had this hat for over a year and hoped this tendency would lessen, but it hasn't. The hat has worn incredibly well, and washes up easily in the sink with a soft brush and a tiny amount of dish soap.

I may look a bit dorky in this hat but it seems perfect for the sun protection I’m looking for. I also have a massive head and thankful for the large sizing (I got size XL). It’s so awful being in the heat when your hat is too tight.

The X-Large fits my big head! It is classy and light weight. I love the mint green color.

The color is wonderful and brim is wonderful size to keep the sun off! Having larger sizes is wonderful as I have a bigger head and finding things that fit is difficult at best.

I purchased this same hat years ago and have worn it year round in the Florida sun! It keeps the sun off your face and neck and cinches under the chin in windy weather or on the boat. Thrilled to find the very same hat in a new color several years later!

My favorite sunhat because it comes in sizes, it has an adjustable chin strap, it's packable, and the brim is wide enough to block the mid-day sun down to my upper lip.

I wear this hat pretty much all summer to stay away from a direct sun. I can't be without it! It truly protects the skin on my face and my neck. It also works during a minor rain storm and during a windy day. It's made of a very light fabric so it's breathable. To care for it when it gets dirty just wash it in the wash machine and let it dry flat. I would recommend not bending the brim, keep it flat. The top of the hat is collapsible but the brim it sturdy. Overall it's a great hat.

I’m a PE teacher in FL, and this hat is bomb-diggity. It feels like I’m standing under an umbrella-doesn’t add heat to my head either. I have the pale lilac one and am back to order another in a different color.

This hat went well with summer outfits - not dressy but not too casual - and was easily packable.

I live at 6000 feet elevation in Colorado and the sun, at times, feels as if it’s going to burn a hole in my skull. This hat is great for stopping that. I have a 23” diameter skull and the best part of the hat is that I can cinch it down to fit my head perfectly. There’s also a good soft tie strap to keep the hat from blowing away when the wind kicks up. Great fabric and good aeration. Will definitely buy this same hat again .

Love love love my new hats! I got a gray (moonstone) and white one. I use them fir walking, since I have sun/skin troubles. The rims are firm and don't flap back in a strong breeze; the hats are lightweight, and shade my face/ sides and back of neck adequately! I get no hotter than when I would wear my baseball type caps. (I'm a huge sweater so I'm still always hot at the end of my walks.) Get these hats!!!

I've never owned a sunhat because I always thought they looked a bit silly, but this thing is awesome. I love the clay color, the small fit my head perfectly and it's really light weight too. Doesn't feel heavy on my head or sweaty at all.

Lightweight yet so much sun protection, lots of great colors, adjustable for a custom fit, collapses flat for easy packing in a suitcase or backpack! I have 3..one for walking, one for kayaking and one to wear on vacas!

I just returned home from a tour in Europe and one of my fellow travelers had a hat that I admired. It was Outdoor Research. I was happy to find it at Zappos. What I like about this hat is that it fits. I wear a size small (6 7/8) and it is always difficult to find a had that doesn't fall down around my ears. I'm also glad that this hat has a chin strap - it will stay on when it is windy, and the strap comes off if I don't need it. The brim is wide and protects the back of my neck and my ears, something a baseball cap doesn't do. And, joy of joys, it packs easily, lying flat in the suitcase and bouncing back when I need it.

This hat is great! When buying another one, I compared this size to the size chart, and although my head is 22.5 inches, I see I bought a Large, which fits perfectly. It is great to find a summer hat for my big head! When walking outside, the wind catches it, but that is to be expected, and the chin strap holds my hat. I am buying the bucket hat for when I want to drive, but I don't expect a big brimmed hat to work in the car. I love how big the brim is and I think it is super cute, too. The best part is / no more sunburns!

I order the OR Oasis Sombrero as well as this Oasis Sun Sombrero, but I did not see any difference between them in person and did not see anything different in the product descriptions. It was good to find a sun hat that actually fit my large head and that had a brim large enough to shade the face and neck. But I wanted a more stylish hat than this one to wear in the city or out sightseeing on vacation, so I returned it.

It seems that Outdoor Research has changed the device on the back of these hats that make them smaller. The new devices just don't work. They don't hold. too bad because the hat used to be good for a small head

Was hoping this sun hat would provide good protection with a minimal dork factor but...nope. The protection is there but the brim is too floppy and unshaped to be anything but exclusively practical. Too bad

Unfortunately the way the hat was packaged cause the brim to be severely bent. I immediately set up a return. I’ll find a hat in a store so as to avoid improper shipping.
