These boots are comfortable and supportive in house. Am not able to take them out on trails because they make a significant noise popping sound when walking. Seams to be coming from the orthodox lining at ball of foot joint when walking.
Too loud to ignore, even out of doors. So I need to return them.

I have the original X Ultra boots and they are the most comfortable hiking boots I've ever had. After several years of hiking, the fabric is splitting so I ordered the X Ultra 3 thinking they'd be the same...Wrong! They are noticeably narrower across the toe when placed back-to-back with the originals and the fabric feels a lot stiffer (even allowing for give). The number of metal lacing hooks has also been reduced. All in all it feels like an inferior boot and had to be returned. What's the point of naming the boot the same if they don't retain the same fit? Surely that's the point? I don't know where to look for a good boot now :(

My first hiking boot with salomon, sole is fine but upper shoe so poorly designed. The tongue and top are too thick and the shoe laces cannot hold it together. There is an extra piece of fabric/leather on the tongue so the laces dont lie right and they dont stay close no matter how tight I lace them, they loosen up, so ankle support is poor. They really should have at least one more hole/hook at the top, 3 instead of
2. relacing almost 1x per mile, no Exaggeration. I do not feel at all secure in them, only reason I dont rate them 1 star is the sole works. I have trouble finding hiking shoes in my size, but as soon as I do these are going to the back of the closet.

I bought these for a hiking trip in peru. They were great for the trip but as I broke them in the right one rubs my ankle raw now even with wool hiking socks. So disappointed, i read this was am issue from other reviews on other sites.

I LOVED these boots when I first got them. Comfortable for walking and hiking all day long. However, when it rained, these boots got completely drenched. My socks were soaking and my feet got cold within minutes once I stopped moving, and this was in temperature above 0. It took a few days to dry the boots out. I now read other reviews that have the same issue. I still own and wear Salomon boots and sneakers from 15 years ago. I cycle my boots and shoes so they don't wear out fast, but these didn't last me more than a few years of occasional wear.

I just received the Salomon X Ultra 3 Wide for my Morton neuroma in my right foot. I went on snowy/icy roads for 2 miles twice and my left foot hurt so bad, I am returning them. My right foot LOVED them. I was noticing as I walked that the left foot/shoe kept on "clicking' (like some part was loose) with every step. I couldn't see any difference between them. I hope they figure it out. Darn!!

I wore these on the west coast trail which is famously a very wet trail. These boots say gortex but even the smallest puddle made my feet wet. After the day of hiking my socks were soaked and I had blisters.

I was so disappointed in these boots after reading good reviews. My ball of my foot and toes were aching so badly after a few SHORT miles of hiking. Tried these out at glacier national park and I’m already contemplating trying to find new/ better boots. Huge disappointment. Even tried gel insoles to see if that would make a difference and it didn’t. Beyond disappointed in the comfort of these, especially if you’re using them for hiking more than a mile.

I purchased these boots based on reviews. I have only worn them twice and I don't care for them at all. My heel lifts every step I take. I also feel the boot is not secure on my foot and think maybe it's because there is a significant gap (space) between the top two toggles for lacing. I'm really disappointed.

This is my second season with these shoes, and am very unhappy that they already have 1/2" gashes in the fabric of the uppers. They have only been on groomed trails. Having owned and loved Salomon's in the past, I am shocked at the poor quality. Cannot fill out the warranty page without receipt, which I didn't save. Treads are barely worn. See photos.

I bought these boots at a premiere retailer. I wore them in my house for 2 weeks as recommended, seemed great, then took them on the local trails. Not so good for me.
I am currently walking a Camino
in Spain. I have developed blisters at the inside first seam after 3 days. Very disappointed. I can also feel rocks through the soles.
The plus side is they have kept my feet dry in rain/dew on grass/ shallow jumps on streams.
These are city walkers or light day trail
walkers and should be advertised as such.

the fit was good and at first they seem to be great but caused blisters on the back of my heels . I have purchased this style in the past and never had that happen this model seems to rub on the back of the heels .

This is probably the single most uncomfortable shoe I have ever worn in my entire life. My first and last experience with this brand. These are ridiculously narrow. I bought an 8.5 wide and it was almost an inch narrower than my other 8.5 wide shoes of a different brand. I wore them on a short walk to the wooded area down the street. Flat, easy walk for the most part and I have walked it many times much longer than I did today. My feet were instantly hot and overheated in these shoes and they felt too tight. After an hour walk, I was on my way home and I had to sit down several times to give my feet a rest. I have had sore feet before but never that sore. I wanted to crawl the last 40 ft to my door but somehow I manay. I peeled them off and the outside of my foot and pinky toe were all red. My big toes felt like someone had taken a hammer to them. I was hobbling when I tried to walk after taking them off. I finally put my other brand walking shoes on to get some comfort and support.

There is 0 ankle support as the lacing hooks on the upper part of this shoe are in the wrong locations. The result is that you feel like you are falling out of them in the front with the tongue hanging out of the front. I thought it was just me, but then I see other reviews complaining of the same problem. This is so disappointing I bought a higher boot for ankle support and it is impossible. . I can't return them. Hoping I can bring them to a cobbler to allow me to use them... I need shoes for hiking in Peru! Grrrr

The ankle support is way too rigid and unforgiving. I've hiked for over 40 years in a combination of boots and trail runner/sneakers and never experienced anything as painful as these boots. As a fan of Solomon I was excited to try these for a 50 mile 3 day trek. I tested them on 2 mountain hikes of 11 and 12 miles with no noted issues (although in hindsight, I may have experienced some ankle agitation build up). About 4 miles into hiking, the outer side of leg just above ankles began hurting. It go so bad after 6 miles that I abandoned the boots and chose to hike 26 miles in Crocs vs. the boots. After a week later, my ankles are still incredibly tender (and blisters from the Crocs healed).
I back up the other reviews in that I did not have any blisters, but the ankle knife like pain is causing me to return and exchange for others.
On a side note - I have the same shoes in 'low rise' and love them!

Have owned multiple Salomon boots and loved every pair. These boots are the absolute WORST. So much foot pain- I could barely hike after a mile. The redesign on these boots is TERRIBLE- never had issues with the Ultra 2! PLEASE bring back the Ultra 2 boots! Salomon you're loosing loyal customers from making "redesigns" i.e. less quality products!

I love Salomon boots and sneakers. They are my go to for hiking, but I was really disappointed in this boot. I didn’t find them very supportive on the ankle but what’s worse is a tripped twice and fell getting caught in the lace mechanism. Returned.

I have had two pairs of these shoes. The first ones failed at 11 months with the uppers developing wear lines and now they let the water in. However. they were so comfortable I purchased a replacement. Now at 9 months they are also beginning to fail and have always let the water in!

They feel very clunky. Very stiff. I needed a pair of shoes/boots for walking around my job. They're very cute but can already tell they will take a while to break in. Not at my age. Is it too much to ask for something soft?
