This sandal is made of soft leather and has great arch support. However, metal loop for strap the that goes over instep, dug into bunion. Sadly returned.

I have a number of foot issues affecting my right foot. I normally wear Taos, Vionic and occasionally Birkenstock sandals. Lately I have found both Vionic and Birkenstock footbeds hard and uncomfortable in the heel area. These sandals by Taos seemed to be the answer having a soft footbed and arch support. I had no issue with the footbed, it really is soft and padded which relieved the pain in my heel. But the arch support was not as good as I expected (Taos sneakers are fab!). My main problem was with the look of the sandal on my foot. I know this is subjective and won't apply to most but I felt the strap near the ankle made my legs look shorter and my ankles fatter. I am 5'7" and do not have fat ankles...I don't think! I just couldn't like them. My first color choice was unavailable so maybe that had a bearing on it? My husband liked them and tried to convince me to keep them but I just knew they wouldn't grow on me to really like them. They are OK but for the price I want more than just OK. If they are your style go for them, they are comfortable, adjustable and the heel height is perfect.
I'd also recommend:

These shoes seem comfortable at first but after wearing them around in my house for a while, my heels were hurting. I like the style of them and the adjustable velcro but I couldn't keep them. I am disappointed to have to return them.

This shoe made my feet feel out of balance. I think the shape of the heel is perhaps at fault. I like that both straps are adjustable. Also, liked the color, but returned them, because they are not comfortable and, therefore, not worth the price.

For my narrow feet, the forefoot footbed was too wide, and the strap that crosses the toes had rough stitching and rubbed uncomfortably. The adjustments seemed awkward for me.

These sandals are not for people with exceptionally wide feet. I have approximately C - D width feet and my forefoot region hung over the sides a bit. My feet are thin, so the straps were not a problem (except for the loose heel strap) and the straps were very comfortable because of the buttery-soft leather. These sandals would be great for " A " (narrow) or " B " (medium) width feet. They are very nice, cushy, soft, lightweight, well-made, nice-lookin' sandals . . . so I was sad to have to send them back.

Loved the sandals, however, the thicker strap on the back of my heel rubbed and I didn't want to end up with blisters. Also, I tried tightening the strap to perhaps lessen the rubbing, but, then the strap over the top of my foot was too loose and kind of hanging there...will return these and try another Taos sandal.

I’ve had two pair of Taos Universe sandals. I LOVE them for comfort. They are like the Trulies except with smooth leather so they cause less friction to toes in hot weather than Trulies. Taos makes the best walking sandals and I much prefer them to sneakers. Unfortunately, one of the leather straps on BOTH pairs ripped out on the side after a short time of wearing them. One pair happened with two weeks. I assumed it was a fluke and bought another pair but they did the same thing without much wear. This never happened with several pairs of the Trulies. There are too expensive to rip this soon. I won’t buy them again.

I really thought I would like these sandals. Unfortunately, when I put them on I knew immediately they were not going to work. The toes on my right foot seemed to almost go over the top edge of the shoe. I've had Taos shoes before and loved them. I'm disappointed.

Color was listed as burnt orange. I thought looking at it in the pictures that the color was what I call saddle. Actually it’s burnt orange just like it is named. Everything was great it was just too orange.

Disappointed. Very sharp ridge end of shoe bed, cannot step down on if toes slip forward. I wear 7.5-8.5 but 39 seemed short. Wanted Trullie (sp?) but reviews said scratchy straps. The universe straps look like indecision; top stitching on only 1 edge, rounded cross straps but straight edge others. Very poor style sense. Ugh!

Straps and leather discolored. Packaging was minimal / not wrapped well.
Look like they’ve been worn
Disappointed.

I did not even bother trying these on. These Taos sandals are probably fakes. The straps are cheap plastic, the color is an awful yellowish brown. Not the quality I have come to expect from Taos.

After just two months, the strap broke. I have had these exact sandals in the past and am very disappointed. I will not purchase them again.

Unfortunately the strap for the right foot wasn't long enough to catch the other end. Pretty disappointed given I spent $189 on these shoes.

The felt wonderful… except the leather broke on the second wearing. And I’m not hard on shoes.

I was so disappointed when I received my order. The box was the correct shoe and size, but the shoes in the box were the wrong shoe. Now they don't have my size in the color I ordered.
