Extremely disappointed in the lack of support in the ankle area for my Ultra 3 mid GTX boots. Have taken about 6 hikes in them and lack of support in the ankle area has caused increasing pain and discomfort. I had a choice between Salomon and Merrell and frustrated that I may have made the wrong choice.

Everything feels great except the arch it is too far back and digging into my foot and also they are a little tight in the width, I heard a lot of great things about theres shoes but I am unsatisfied with mine. It is almost like this show was built for someone with a super narrow foot and a small heel.

I have a pretty narrow foot, always fine with a standard width, and these are too narrow. They're also short. I've never worn anything but an 11 and the 11s on these cram my toes on descents. Combined with the narrow width my feet feel really beat up after even a light hike. Need to size up at least a half size and go wider.

My first pair were comfortable out of the box but the midsole collapsed at roughly the 10 month mark. Warranty claim was smooth and I got this pair again. The toe box was noticeably narrower than the first pair. After a 5 mile hike with a few water crossing, bulges appeared along both sides of the toe box, only in the right show along the sides of my big and little toes making them extremely uncomfortable and unwearable.

Unfortunately these shoes did not work for me. I was truly excited to purchase them, but the problem is the high tops rubbed on my leg and they hurt so bad I had to stop wearing them when we visited Alaska this summer. Sorry for the bad review but I thought you should know they didn't work for me.

I don't know why my review was not posted before so I try again: Very dangerous and badly designed shoe. I almost fall many times wioth those because the lace get stuck in the hook unless you make triple loop in your lace or walk with feet really wide apart. I wore Salomon only for many decades and now I will change for Mont-Bell, cause Salomon quality is degrading too much. Salomon shoes used to be really well designed and made for lating. I had some Salomon winter boots that lasted for 15 years but just read the reviews here to see what it has becomes.

I wear only Salomon shoe since 30 years. They used to be very well made and solid. But reading all the reviews around I can see the quality went recently out of the windows. There are many reviews of shoe breaking apart after a few month and even many after one hike... I had some old salomon that lasted me at least 15 years! But the problem I have with those one the X ultra 3 wide GTX is not that they are breaking apart and they wont break apart cause I can't even wear them! They are too dangerous. The reason is those badly designed hooks for the lace. If the lace loop is too large it will be catched byu the other shoe's hook! I almost fell many times trying to wear them because of that problem. I hope I could get a refund but now it's too late. So I thougth I would buy those new hiking boot from Salomon with the quick lace system but I saw many reviews of those breaking apart on first hike... salomon is not what it used to be and now after 30 years I have to find another brand it seems. Is it possible to get a refund for those badly desgined shoes?

Returned 2 different pairs of these after owning 4 pairs of the last version . These are so narrow and uncomfortable compared to the last one's. So much that it is laughable. I would pay double the price for another pair of ultra 2's. Very disappointed in Salomon.

As many others have mentioned, these boots run extremely narrow. My husband has worh the previous version for two years now and loves them. He said that these did not have remotely the same fit. Haven't tried the Wides for comparison because they were all sold out. I guess we know why.

I bought 2 pairs of these for a 5 day backpacking trip. The boots seemed ok in about 2" - 3" of water the first day. The next day the boots got frost on them and became stiff. Then they were no longer waterproof at all 2-3" of water got your feet wet. luckily I had some extra socks and water shoes my son could wear. So his feet did not freeze, me I was not so lucky. I had to hike 18 miles over 2 days in wet boots in 20F weather. The grip of the soles were great, and I'm glad because I couldn't feel my feet.

I have had a pair if the previous model and loved them. I wanted to replace them and when I tried on the new model I was very disappointed with the comfort immediately. On closer inspection I saw that the new model is made in India. The previous model was made in Vietnam. I think the quality and design has deteriorated since the company changed factories. I will not buy this model.

Bought a pair of these at the end of October 2019 in preference to all leather. Very comfortable and used daily on a combination of surfaces from paved to stony and grassland. The uppers, where the boots naturally bend when walking, have deteriorated to the point that the fabric has worn and split on one. So not at all impressed.

I purchased three pairs of Solomon's...The other ones are the shoe version X ULTRA 3 PRIME. Never had Solomon's before but really liked the X ULTRA 3 PRIME and then saw these and bought them too as they are waterproof. It's like cheese and chalk comparing the two styles. The closest to this type of boot I had before is the Hanwag Tatra ll Gtx but they go higher up the ankle and I always wanted something that doesn't go so high. I want to be careful what I write because one star doesn't look good but I'm sorry I can't give more. The big issue is my heel is very loose in the left boot and when I walk it lifts up so much, I'm pinching my big toe and long toe together like one automatically does when wearing a flip flop which doesn't press against the heel. That's a sign of how loose they feel that my foot is treating it like a flip flop. (It's not really THAT loose, but the point is my foot is trying to stop the boot from going flying as if it is a flip flop). As a result I find my calve is starting to cramp and my foot because I can't walk normally and comfortably. On a scale from 1-10 on how irritating it is, it is definitely a 10. I feel I would rather walk barefoot than with these boots. Why that is I don't know. My left foot is actually one size bigger than the right foot and my left toe is touching the tip of the boot. So if anything it would have made more sense if it was the right boot which was too loose. Logic says I need to just tighten them more, but even when the right is just tightened normally and almost loosely and the left tightened so much it hurts the top of my foot I can't get away from the feeling of my heel lifting up too much which causes my left foot to cramp. The right does it too to a degree, but that is normal, I mean one's foot is never 100% secured but the left is too much, so much I can't use it. Sadly I'm busy putting it on ebay which is so disappointing, never before have I sold a pair of new shoes, but they are so bad, I mean I can't even walk down the hall way that I've realised I just have to accept they need to go... The shoe version i.e. X ULTRA 3 PRIME is perfect, hence I bought a second pair in a different colour. Maybe its my foot, if I can be convinced the problem is my foot I will change or delete this review, but I've never experienced it with any other boot or shoe and at my age and the life I live I've had many to compare with. The fact that the right is fine makes me feel there is a problem with the left shoe. But with the naked eye I can't see anything..

Consistent with other reviews, I found the boots to be very narrow and the toe box was very cramped. I had sized up 1/2 size from my normal size, but still found the boots to be restrictive and uncomfortable. Didn't want to expend the effort to try different sizes and widths, even though I liked the styling of the boots.
