I walk four miles a day to and from work. Was having major foot issues wearing running shoes or anything really for that matter. Looked at a lot of reviews and finally came to the conclusion to purchase these. No complaints whatsoever. A pair of boots that were well manufactured yet didn't look like I was going to be welding steel in them. It seems all Salomon shoes stretch a bit after a week or two of wearing - meaning, if they feel snug around the top of your foot, they do seem to give a good amount in time. These also allow you to tie them really tight on your foot and still feel comfortable, which is great. I have had them for 8 months and would be hard pressed to buy any other hiking shoe or boot at this point. These have been great and mine have over 640 city miles on them and no issues. My foot issues are gone as well. Like the fact that they have a thick heel as well.

This is my third pair....excellent comfort, support and protection. I suffered an accident where both of achilles tendons were almost severed and I depend these for daily wear. A lot of reviews mention that they are great for all-day use and they have been SUPERB for me for the last 5 years. My Navy SEAL neighbor told me that these are their choice. NO DOUBT.

I love these boots! Super light, comfortable and lots of support. I have backpacked a couple hundred miles in these since buying at the start of 2018 and have had no issues. I like how the "lace lock" helps keeping the laces snug while doing the ankle portion. I need to wrap the laces around the ankle prior to lacing the last set of hooks. I wear ice breaker liners and hiking socks and my feet fell great. I had one 9 mile hike in 95 degree weather where my feet got a little toasty near the end, but I probably should have chosen lighter hiking socks that day. Only issue I had was around sizing, I typically wear between 10 and 11 depending on brand but these I got in size 12.

As a former USMC Infantry Officer, current retired guy and hiker I know a thing or two about boots and feet. :) These boots are absolutely awesome zero break in time, feel perfect and no problems what so ever. I have tried them all over gthe last 20 years Danner, Vasque, etc etc. I give these a 5 STAR rating and will recommend them without hesitation. Buy these and also buy a pair of DARN TOUGH socks as as we used to say you will be good to go!
I'd also recommend:

Great pair of boots comfortable, supportive and protective. But the arches feel a little high so it hurts the middle of my foot. Or maybe I have flat feet?

I really like these shoes. They look smart, feel durable, and are super comfortable. I feel like I don't need to break them in at all!
It took a while to get the right size - I usually wear a 10.5, but had to upsize to 11.5 for the Salomon Quest 4D 3 GTX.
I'd recommend these to people looking for a sturdy hiking boot, but it also looks pretty good for city wear

Unfortunately, Zappos provides only three options for fit: Too Small, Too Big, and Perfect. They should provide an "Other" for an option for those who want to say it fits 'well.'
The boot is very well constructed and my feet were dry after walking through wet snow and slush yesterday. Ankles are well supported and traction is good, so although it's winter and I'm not hiking, I can already see that these boots are going to do me very well this summer. And, the arch is very good...not so high as to cause discomfort, but a solid support for hard landings.
There is a caveat and that's the width. I'm a woman who wears a women's 9.5 and normally a man's 8.5. Because my feet are somewhat wide, I reached out directly to Solomon to get their opinion as to what size should be appropriate for this boot because these boots aren't cheap and I prefer to get things right the first time around. They recommended a 9 as the boot, even in mens, is a bit narrow. And, they were correct. Even at a 9, on my largest foot, it is somewhat tight, however, I believe that after a break-in period, that area will loosen and it'll be the perfect boot.

Easily the most comfortable, supportive athletic shoe/boot I’ve ever worn. I’ll wear nothing else for years to come. These look big and clunky, but they’re light and the stability you receive wearing them is massively confidence building.
I wear Solomon alpine ski boots in the winter, and they art top notch. It’s great to see and experience Solomon’s design and craftsmanship extend to hiking boots.
Try a pair. I think you’ll love them!

I've been wearing boots for years! Spending time in the Marine Corps I've always thought I would need a couple months to break in boots to have them be "Comfortable". I wouldn't dare take a fresh pair of "B8TES" or "Banners" on a 10 mile hike or out to the field for a couple weeks. But I've heard nothing but great things about these Boots and Salomon overall! So the girlfriend and I planned to hike up Mt. Baldy. About an 11.5 mile 4,000 ft elevation hike. I did it along with a 40LB plate carrier to increase the work out. And boy by the end of the hike I was in love with these boots! The only breaking in I did prior to this hike was 3 hours wearing them around the house just to see how my feet felt in them. But they felt great from the beginning to the end of the 11.5 miles and 4,000 for elevation gain! For years I've suffered from planters fasciitis and Achilles tendinitis. I usually always flared up after even just a 5 mile hike in other boots and would be in pain for at least a week. But with these Quest 4D's this definitely wasn't the case!
They are sized to the T. I'm a 9, ordered 9 and they fit like a 9. The heel drop is very slight compared to the traditional boot even though they don't look like it. Super grippy and my feet felt protected but didn't feel like they were in a straight jacket! These were my first pair of Salomon's and definitely looking to look more into their running and casual shoes!

These are my second pair of boots. I put about 500 miles on the first pair. I have hiked in Northern California in Fern Canyon where the trail is a flowing stream. I hiked in Minnesota during the rainy season in tall wet grass. I mostly hike in Arizona where it can be hot and dry or rainy and wet as you can see in the photo of me hiking the Superstition Mountains. These boots stayed dry in every instance. They are very comfortable, sturdy and grippy. My average hike is between 8-12 miles. When I am doing a difficult hike it seems the only things that do not hurt are my feet. These are the best boots I have owned. You will not be sorry if you buy them

I have put over 600 miles on these boots so far. They are very comfortable boots although they do run about 1/2 size too small at least for me. I have hiked mostly in the Arizona desert with some hiking in Minnesota and California. I have hiked through streams in Northern California, and through trails with tall grass during the rainy season in Minnesota. The trails I hike in Arizona are rocky, sandy and at times gravel.
These boots are very well built and the soles have good gripping power over rocks and in gravel. I have found that the area in the front of the boot where the rubber is glued over the toe area is just starting to come loose, but something a little glue will fix. I would recommend these boots. I will be buying another pair when I need them.

I am regularly doing hiking 5-6 days a week for around 8-10 km for the last 10 year in Margallah Mountains Islamabad Pakistan. I have been using North Face, Columbia and some other brands of shoes during this period. But I bought Salomon brand shoes for the first time. I have bought Quest 4D 3 GTX model of shoes. These are the perfect pair of shoe I ever used. Very comfortable, light weight and best for Rocky Mountains. I really appreciate and recommend the quality of these shoes and advise hikers to buy these shoes for hard and rocky moutineering.

These boots felt pretty good but after just three short hikes in the hills the sides started breaking down. I’d say they have less than 10 miles on them.

First time buying from Solomon. Great looking boot and super comfy, but did not prove to be waterproof or very durable. Had a really wet winter in Humboldt County and these boots did not keep my feet dry during shifts outside in the rain. Consequently the rubber toe cap has begun to peel away from the leather. So sad to let them go, but for the price tag I expected more than a collective 90 days of wear...

Best booots I've ever hiked in. Comfortable right out of the box. Strong and supportive. It's like putting your feet in a mobile fortress. The only issue I've had is keeping the laces tied.

Ordered half size larger than my shoe size and it was just to narrow in the toe box as well as mid foot.
Loved the look. Appeared well made. Came as expected. The return was effortless. Just wish this boot came on widths.
Length was fine it was just the width..

I bought these boots because they were stiff. I needed a stiff sole to correct a problem with joint impingement of the second toe. I have to walk a lot at work and they have helped avoid surgery. They are surprisingly comfortable and not to heavy. I plan on buying another pair.

These boots are my go-to Urban Warrior footwear. My favorite foot gear.
I walk New York City streets - averaging between 8-1 1 miles, 5 days/weekly. The Salomon Quest 4D 3 GTX have never let down. I am not a small man - these war horses tolerate my punishing gait. I appreciate the Gore-Tex, as well. I don’t pay attention to puddles, slush, or mud. I’ll keep buying them, as long as Solomon makes them available, or they develop a model that I like better.
It’s hard to imagine.

My favorite boot of all time was the older 3D model of this boot and if I knew that they were going to change it, I would have ordered 4 pairs and that's not an exaggeration....it was that good. This newer 4D model changed the sole which puts terrible pressure on the outside metatarsal bone leading to a very sore foot. I own a dozen pair of boots with two of them being Salomon's and none of them have this pressure point. I hate it when a company changes a good thing.

Actually, I have a high arch, and could not get my foot into the boot because the inner sock was too small to let my heel down into the boot... I have previously used Asolo hiking boots with the same construction with no issues.... Solomon needs to tweek its patterns too allow easier entry into its boots....

Used a pair of Salomon 3D years ago to complete the TrailWalker 100km. Last year I suffered from foot injury when trying to complete the Wainright Coast to Coast. Chose the 4D GTX and have already done 300 miles in them. Super comfortable, very supporting, excellent arch structure, fully waterproof (like short wellies!), and have been remarkably easy to wear in. They are "heavy" at first, but they don't reduce my speed over ground and improve my stamina, so get a big thumbs up. Extra thumbs up for the grip; 3D were a little lacking, but the 4D GTX grip is excellent (and I have a pair of Inov8 Rocklite G345 to compare with).
