the short story is that these are comfortable, sturdy shoes that impart a bit style. i was able to fit my custom orthotics with a half-size larger. there is a little bit of heel slip, but nothing rubs. the long story: i had surgery twice on each foot over 20 years ago, and still deal with issues; hence i have custom orthotics to support my arches and limit flexion of the metatarsophalangeal joint. i have been prescribed wear thick soles to further limit flexion, and they need to support my foot well enough to prevent overpronation. i also work retail and am on my feet much of the time, so there's that. of course, i still would like to be able to wear shoes that don't make me look like i'm 90. i liked the look of these, so i asked both zappos and the manufacturer whether the insoles could be removed, but they can't. from what i was told, it sounded like there wasn't really any arch support, so i thought maybe my orthotics could fit over the insoles. i ordered a half size up (i'm a solid 8 and ordered an 8.5), and took my chances. first of all, they look great. there's a small amount of red stitching where the tabs are attached, which is a nice detail. they are a little heavy (i expected this), but not as much as a doc marten. more importantly, my orthotics fit, and the shoes are comfy. the slip-on styling prevents me from making them too tight. i mostly wear them with a thinner sock (my feet swell as the day goes on), but i wear them with heavier socks, too. even though these are a low shoe, i do not seem to be overpronating; my chiropractor is impressed since i usually do better with a true boot (i wear blundstones most of the time, but zappos doesn't carry many of them [variety and quantity] in women's sizes). i would like zappos to carry more of the colors available for women, including black and cranberry.

Wow, they are incredible. Warm, stylish and eye catching. Got a lot of complements wearing them. Take it until they are gone!!!

I got these shoes for Northeast winter weather (ice and snow). I got them about half a size larger than I usually wear so I can put an orthotic insole inside of them, and wear them with SmartWool socks. I was impressed with the quality. I really appreciate the soft wool upper, which is thick, but doesn't put any unwanted pressure on my toes or arches. The comfort is incredible. The two tabs, front and back, help with getting them on (I have arthritis). The shoes grip my feet securely. And they don't look clunky. The word that comes to mind when I put them on is "comfort." I think I'm really going to enjoy these shoes.

The fit and size and comfort is outstanding on this boot. I wore them once and decided this was a high quality product. The rugged sole, warmth, versitility and fit make this Pendleton boot a winner for me. I initially purchased this boot for walking long distances in any kind of weather. I love the comfort! Very pleased with this purchase.

Pure comfort right out of the box, excellent arch support, just not style for the office (sole too clunky looking). Would be great for more casual wear, outdoors. Not what I was looking for... so returned for that reason. Buy your foot size unless wearing heavy socks, then size up 1/2 size. Recommended for comfort and if style suites your need. A nice comfortable shoe.
