A weird shoe with some good points, but there are a lot of buts. The good is that that the bottom, sole, is solid, and may be great for trail running. Fini for the good. The problem is that the shoe has an attached tongue. You slide into these like they are a pair of flippers, water fins. I'm sure flippers have a bigger opening. I was able to get my foot in. It felt awful because the shoe was short and narrow and something else I can not explain. Shame to waste a good bottom which are difficult to find nowadays.

I don't know if Zappos is selling seconds or if New Balance just has terrible quality control, but literally every pair of these shoes I've ordered (9 so far) fit differently. Two pairs of size 12 don't even feel like the same shoe. Grey version is wider but has a ridge along the outside of the left sole. Orange version is narrower but doesn't have the weird ridge. Moving up a size seems to make the shoe longer but actually narrower (even though I'm ordering the wide version). I don't know why I keep trying to make NB shoes work because these issues seem to exist in every model I've tried.

AMAZING !!
The HIERRO v3 is a incredibly comfortable , surprisingly supportive for a shoe that has such a plush ride. I love the Hyposkin upper . It delivers adequate structure with its " bootie " design. It also come with a soft Ortholite sockliner which afds to the step in comfort. The " socktop " is great at keeping out debis and adds to the secure feeling underfoot. The outsole / midsole platform is the best ive had underfoot in years . The Vibram sole has deep wide lugs for superior traction and the Fresh Foam midsole is " BEEFY "and gives maximum protection and a soft but not mussy ride. This same midsole / outsole is also available on the Fresh Foam Trailbuster (of which i own a pair and would suggest to any outdoor enthusiasts ). The HIERRO v3 is a brast of a trail shoe which can go from trail to street to running errands. BRAVO NEW BALANCE!
BRAVO !

The look alone is worth 5 stars. The black-on-black upper and logo w the gray speckled sole and tread is genius. The comfort is superlative, as Fresh Foam always is. Price was very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Another great fresh foam model from New Balance. I wear 10.5 2E in all NB models and this model provides the perfect amount of toe box space and ground coverage. Light design and feels/fits very close to foot. Got these for runs during midwest winters that often result in debris getting in my shoes so the sock liner worked perfectly. Took them out of the box, swapped the stock insert for my custom orthotic, and ran 9 miles on different surfaces including asphalt, concrete, snow/ice, and plenty of road salt. Highly recommend.

I am a working professional Cinematographer in the film industry. I am constantly on my feet camera operating, lighting, etc. I needed a shoe that I could stand, run, and punish on a daily basis. I also needed a shoe that can work for a wider foot. The Fresh Foam Hierro V3 are that shoe. My feet don't hurt and they a wide and super comfortable. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM.

These shoes are extremely comfortable! Have had a terrible time with plantar fasciitis, so the physical therapist said to get these shoes and Spenco orthotics to help with my supination walk. After one day of wearing them all day it’s a lot better, mixed with some stretching. They’re kind of a rubbery material which I actually really like. You would think that would make them hot but there are little vent holes that take care of that. The pattern has a quilted look but it doesn’t bother me, better than wearing bright neon shoes! I really like the sock like lining at the top, not sure what previous commenter is talking about with it being difficult to slip on. They slid right on and feel like walking on clouds.

Great shoe on trails. Gravel was no issue, whereas other shoes would often give too much for those sharp rocks. Highly recommended

So far I'm loving these shoes. They're perfect for my urban walks/hikes where I cover both paved and unpaved paths. They're not quite as clunky as hiking boots but they're sturdier than typical sneakers.
I noticed the whole "sock" thing that other reviewers mentioned. But it doesn't really bother me. I don't think it really makes it any harder to get on.
Overall very happy with these.

Not only do these look amazing they are very comfortable. However, the fabric at the sock fit can rub a little uncomfortable if your wearing no show socks. I usually do wear no show sock so got a couple blisters. I fee this will go away with a little more use.

I trained in these and wore them for a 50+ mile ruck in 20 hours carrying 40lbs. These shoes have more than impressed me. They fit perfect to my feet and provided maximum cushion. They have survived streets, trails, mud, rocks, rain, rivers, and still look new. I love the built in sock liner. I highly recommend these shoes.

Overall great, but much more difficult to get on than v1 and v2 (of which I had two pairs each). This doesn't have the full NB "bootie construction" which I hate but they added a sock-like collar around the opening so I can't just slip my foot in any adjust like previous versions. Probably great for trail runners (actual purpose of the shoe) but less convenient for casual wear. I also think the color schemes for v3 are lame outside of the orange version. For v1 I had the orange/black and blue/yellow/black and v2 I had the grey/orange and blue/yellow. This version is pretty boring outside of the orange.

I just completed a "Thru-Hike" of the Appalachian trail, wearing two pair of these in the process. These shoes performed amazingly! The wide Vibram footprint gave plenty of traction, in wet or dry conditions, the upper sleeve helped keep debris out, the fresh foam kept a lot of foot injuries away... My recommendation is to order 1/2 size LARGER than your street shoe, and get the WIDE version, to allow for foot swell, if you are doing big miles. There is mesh under the outer synthetic shell, so even if/after that tears, you still have your forefoot protected. Will be replacing these with a new pair!

This is a really nice trail shoe, it is also a very handsome shoe, the color is a luscious bright fluorescent orange, more so than the photo on Zappos shows. I wear these without socks, tried once with but prefer without, I like the structure of the toe box created by the overlay material, the sock liner is great at keeping dirt out, it is finished with stitched cloth tape at the top, a better construction method would have been to knit the sock instead but it think it will wear in just fine. I like the fat nubs on the sole which absorbs shock but are stiff enough to provide feed back from the ground. Most of my other trail shoes are Salomon, but this is my new favorite. If they make an electric blue I’ll be getting another pair. Zappos is great as always!

Having severe knee issues - it took several tries to find the right sneaker. I normally wear a Women's 9W - however none of the women's sneakers were comfortable for me. I decided to look into the men's sneakers. I love these - bought 3 pair so I can rotate!
I won't lie - I can't wear socks with these, getting my foot in the sneaker funnel is impossible for me with socks on - but once in, barefoot... these sneaks are amazing. Who cares if my sneakers stink, as long as I can walk comfortably - I am thrilled. :)
My only suggestion to NB would be, perhaps a v slit in the front of the fitted funnel so people may have an easier time getting their feet in and out WITH SOCKS ON.
Love them.

Weird idiosyncrasy with the insole. As if it was not cut right. Returned. Great shoes aside from that.

Extremely comfortable, good toe protection, slide on and off with ease, excellent grip gives good footing on trails, side structure is a little thin so you have to be careful not to roll an ankle. Overall they are a great pair of trail shoes.

Been using these as my new trail runners for about 6 weeks now. There is literally NO ankle support, so I have been relatively careful about the terrain when I am running/hiking (ridiculous considering thats what these are made for). However I have still managed to roll my ankle on more than 1 occasion. Yesterday, the inevitable finally happened. I was running downhill, hit a very small rock that caused my ankle to roll and me to super man dive into the dirt and rocks. I ripped all the skin off the palm of my hand, my shoulder and hip, so yeah, if you enjoy rolled ankles and tearing your flesh off, these are definitely the shoes for you. I will say they do look nice and I like the material they are made of, so theres that...
