Review for Zappos VIP Points(What's this?)
These pants are near-perfect for a lightweight nylon/spandex blend pant (having tried a few different brands, like Prana, Mountain Hardwear, Patagonia, etc). They would be fantastic for travel, but I bought them more for climbing, hiking and wearing day-to-day.
If you have yet to try a pair of nylon/spandex blend hiking or travel pants, I would highly recommend it. The comfort from stretch and ease of movement alone, makes it worth having a pair.
Now onto the Active Traveler Stretch specifically:
What differentiates these pants from other brand pants with similar material is the cut/fit. These have a much more modern fit -- it is slimmer with more of a taper than you typically get with pants of this material. If you want a modern looking pant fit but want the performance of this fabric, these are your pants! A great-looking pant that you can hardly tell is there while wearing them.
-They are super-lightweight, possibly the lightest pants I own.
-The pockets are plentiful, while still being subtle to give the pant a classier look (hidden back pocket is a nice touch and the side zipper pocket is subtle enough). They are mesh too which is nice for breathability and wet conditions
-They have a good amount of stretch, so high-stepping, crouching and other movements are nicely accommodated. I don't feel like they are too-stretchy by any means, seem to be just right.
-The fabric has a nice feel to it. It definitely feels a little "techy" but they don't have an overly "swishy" sound to them when moving at all. They shed water nicely, though I do think in a downpour they wouldn't hold up super long (though they will be quick to dry!)
-Metal rivets are a minor detail, but I think they give the pants a bit more of a finished, sharp look
-The ankle cuffs have a cinch feature (not listed in description) so you can tighten them -- a nice touch and comes in handy for certain situations
These fit pretty similar in the waist to most other brands. I do wish they came in odd sizes like some of RR's other items. If you are an odd-size, trying both sizes up/down and returning one would obviously be best. If you don't want to do that -- my advice would be thicker-legged guys go with the size higher and w/ thinner legs can afford to go down. Either way the material has good stretch if you prefer the slimmer fit.
Love these pants... I can wear them out, just hanging around, climbing and hiking and barely notice I have them on.

The pants bunched up at the knees which wouldn't have made these great to wear for the long term.
