Merrell's have never steered me wrong, and these boots are no exception. the comfort & fit is great. The only issues I had with them is that they are very warm in addition to being waterproof, so if you're working somewhere hot, your feet are going to sweat. Also, even with the side zipper, they can be challenging to get on your foot, and I wish Merrell had included a little pull tab on the back to assist with getting them on. Other than that, its a great boot.

I have worn these boots in all different types of weather and they are not 100% waterproof. Wearing these in both rain and snow my feet got wet every time. Very disappointed

Overall, these are excellent, comfortable, durable boots that straddle the line between hiking and tactical. I've worn these daily in environments ranging from office to blacktop to light hiking, carrying furniture and scrambling over hills and sitting around, and they've done great everywhere. There are two serious flaws that I've listed below, but for the price ($155) these are hard to beat in this category. I recommend the 8" with the side zip over the 6", because the 8" provides better ankle support while still being comfortable, and it's honestly a little easier to get into/out of than a 6" boot thanks to the side zipper. Size: For reference, I wear a size 11 M Merrell Moab 1 Ventilator, 11.5 D Salomon Discovery GTX, and anywhere from 11.5 EE to 13 EE in sneakers. I fit perfectly in an 11 W for these boots. (11.5 M was both too long and too narrow.) Pro: *Very* comfortable right out of the box, no break-in required; one of the best OEM insoles I've ever used, and padding up the shaft allows for a tighter more comfortable lace than expected. More comfortable than some sneakers. Very light for the size and bulk. Bungee lacing design is good with well-positioned eyelets. Side-zipper with protective tab, while plastic, works well and seems sturdy. Sole is rugged, but flexible and grippy on wet and dry surfaces. Sole is non-marking (so far). Largely quiet footfalls (see below for huge counterpoint). Durability of uppers seems quite good, and wear patterns tend to be hidden by design. Good ankle support in the 8" model. Moderate to good waterproofing including in the zipper area (rain and puddles only, the tongue is only gusseted up to the 5th eyelet right above the ankle). "Technical jogging sneaker" style fits in to tactical, casual, and duty environments (unless shine is required, see below), although they definitely lean towards the casual. Con: Uppers make a popping "twhup!" noise near the toe with every step, on both feet, even after two months of daily wear. This noise doesn't seem like it's getting any quieter, and I'm having a heck of a time figuring out what's even causing it (currently my best theory is the flexible sole springing back as soon as the toe leaves the ground, causing the stiff toe cap and taut toe box upper to act like a drum; I've begun artificially breaking in the toe box, but I don't feel like I should have to figure this out). If you work around others and have any pride, this is going to be serious flaw #1. Waterproof lining does not breathe as well as it could; on the first long rainy day my feet ended up a little macerated, so wear good wool socks and take air-out zipper breaks as necessary. These boots are otherwise comfortable enough to wear for 12+ hours every day, so this is serious flaw #2, and may be a reason to not buy this model if you're planning on wearing it in truly warm or humid places. Impossible to shine, difficult to clean. Side zipper is no replacement for unlacing/relacing, you will probably need to stomp down to get your heel in and people with ankle injuries may have a problem using the zipper for entry. Despite the length of the "con" section, I am very happy with these boots and would buy them again... if I can figure out how to stop broadcasting my presence with every twhupping footstep.

this boot just looks like an 8" TACTICAL boot. The major design flaw is there is no protect skirt between the tongue and upper, so you literally only get less than 5" depth of waterproofing height. So don't buy it if you expect this could be a snow boot or deep water hiking boot. Not sure about Merrell's moab 2 mid, but you could just purchase that one, instead of this one.

Don't buy this work boot!!!! My son absolutely loves this boot. But the quality just isn't there. We are now on going on the third pair in less than a year and half. The second pair lasted 7 months before the sole separated from the boot. I'm still waiting on my claim. Had to buy him work boots from another store.

It's like wearing bedroom slippers in the field. Highly breathable, high-quality, and comfortable. In Florida, a waterproof boot can quickly become too hot to wear. This boot is highly effective at preventing water from entering while simultaneously allowing air to circulate inside. Regardless of the surface, I never once worried that I would lose my footing.

Great supportive boot for moving around outside. Good ankle support as well. Light, don't weigh you down. I use them for IDPA league, they don't slip on grass which is key when running with live firearms.

These boots are very comfortable out of the box. After a few days they have stretched to your feet and you're ready to go!! Bought them to go Elk hunting in Colorado this year so I have been walking 4 miles every day around my farm around fields and through woods preparation for the hunt. Highly recommend these boots!

The fit was perfect and they were so comfortable. They've become my boots of choice for all things. The only downside is that they haven't lasted as long as some other boots like my old redwings, but they are way better for my feet so the trade is worth and its worth the cost every year or so. I'm sad to see they aren't available anymore.
