they're okay. I want to know where things are made, and this should be in information. Also, only the one colour was available in the wide size. Very limited availability of wider shoes.

I have worn the Merrell Moab 2 black tactical shoe, men's size 9 for 2 years. They are always a little tight on the baby toe initially. I normally wear a 9 wide but have been unable to find the shoe in a wide. I was very happy to find that the Merrell Moab 2 Mid Tactical Boot came in a 9 wide so I thought that I would give them a try. I am so disappointed that I did. These boots are huge! I have looked at the tag on the tongue several times to verify that they are actually a 9 wide. My heel slips so much that it is painful to wear them. I have tried snugging the laces and tying them tighter which did not stop the heel slipping and only caused me more pain on my ankles. I have worn them 3 times and it hasn't gotten any better. I am an LEO Officer and work 12-16 hrs daily.

I took these on their first hike (8 miles) in the Smokies last week. The tread is nice and effective, as is the overall comfort to the feet. The issue is with the ankle support and the tongue. When laced tightly enough to provide firm support, there's something in the boot's shaft that pokes directly into my ankle...pretty painful, actually.
Then there's the tongue. It's crazy thick. So thick that it's tough to lace the boots tightly. The tongue might actually be what causes the pain described above...weird.
For applications where you don't need serious ankle support, these are probably fine. Personally, I'd consider these more duty boots than hiking boots.

The boot is likely cut for men vs women, unless you typically buy wide width in women's shoes.
The width is... thick... even with thick hiking socks, you can tell there's lots of extra width room . This means your heel doesn't stay in place. If you buy a smaller size to offset the width, you'll crush your toes.
The boot is heavy, but manageable.
The boot feels like you have weight on your feet, borderline frumpy.
The boot is not hot, vents well.
I've not had to test the water proof feature.
After 10 hours of wear, not on my feet the entire time, I felt my heels needed attention, again, from the shifting due to the width.
This is a solid tactical boot but it has some serious cons for women to consider.

Very comfortable Merrell Moab boots, run true to regular Merrell Moab sizing. The tread on these boots is very soft compared to Merrell Moab 2 vents or their comparable older Merrell Moab 2 boots. The mesh upper around the toe frays very easily and started after light use. I've had the boots for 6 months and the tread on the ball of the foot is worn down already.

Wish the unisex sizing information was clearer ... the boot was ordered from the woman's hiking boot site but came in a man's size.

Toe box completely different shape fit than previous Merrells purchased. Laces slightly higher up the ankle than previous mid Merrells, which cause stress on the ankle when walking. Shipped without promo items, beanie and gaiter. Disappointed.

Great looking shoe that seems to have some solid construction. But with all modern shoes, the insole is an absolute joke. Needed to swap them out immediately after purchase.

Bought these in October of 2020 it's now end of July 2021 and in need of a new pair. I do a moderate amount of walking (10k to 16k steps a day) on different types of surfaces like carpet, tile, hard and loosely packed dirt. Boots felt great, breath great, aren't too heavy and appeared to be put together well. Well I happened to look down at my boot this week and noticed that there was a slice on the thin rubber on the pinky toe side of my right shoe. This caused me to check the left shoe and same thing. The double stitching has come undone and it's right in front of where the boot bends when I walk. I do alternate these daily with a black pair that I got in May of 2021 and the black ones still look good, only time will tell.

Super comfy. It's been a month and there's a squeaky noise coming from them at times. I walk a lot. Otherwise very supportive sole and soft body.

I've had Merrill boots in the past and have always bought them for the width. I've found that other comparable and more expensive brands "wide" boots aren't wide enough. My issue with Merrills boots is that I find they don't last much past 1-2 seasons of normal use. Maybe I've just had bad luck with mine or maybe that's the industry standard now I but I'd expect to get more longevity out of a pair of winter/hiking boots. They should send out these review requests 1 year after purchase, they might get a better picture on whether folks are satisfied. But so far so good!

Nice boot, only issue I have is the tongue of the boot is too large and sticks out of the boot.

Pretty good boots over all but its definitely not waterproof my feet can attest to that. Use them for inside work or dry outside work

Please take another look at the design of this boot! There was a "breaking in period"! Of all the Merrills I have worn over the years, Never was there a need to break them in. Great, right out of the box!
During this "breaking in period", I actually received a blister on my heel! That doesn't hasppen with Merrill!
They are water proof, and keep my feet nice and warm.

These are very bad for flat surfaces of any kind if there is any amount of water on that surface. I've slipped while wearing these boots multiple times and almost got hurt because of them. Not recommended if you are planning on buying these for work.

Do NOT buy these if you are trying to get work boots. I work on roofs and these are the most slippery boots i've ever owned. They may be waterproof but you'll be slipping around on wet surfaces with these on.

Very comfortable boot, I hike at least 2 miles a day for work. These boots need some breaking in and the laces do loosen up if not tied properly with some different tie methods.
My right boot pinched my big toe from the first time I used them and hasn't let up. They will be collecting dust in my garage. Hope I can find a better pair because I do like the Merrell brand.
