Bought this duffel for my 12 year old. He plans to use for scout camping. We envision him using well into college and beyond. It's so big he could fit inside! Love the yellow because it will be easy for him to spot!

Pros - This bag was the perfect size for a 1 week destination running tour of Northern CA - hitting 100+ miles of trails. I packed 3 pairs of sneakers, hydration pack, head lamps, 5 days of trail running clothes and accessories, 4 different wind/rain jackets; plus 5 days of casual clothes. Filled to the brim the bag came in at 80lbs when I checked it - worth it to pay the overweight fee to have all the essential gear. Received many compliments on it, could spot it a mile away at bag check.
Cons - the strap cinches were sewn on upside down, made it annoying to adjust the straps on the fly. Was surprised how filthy it became checking it on the plane, however cleaned easily enough. More inside storage pockets would have been nice.
Bottom line, love the bag, I am planning on buying the same bag in the next size up and down - would expect to need the XXL for any trip >10 days.

I have a long history with the NorthFace Base Camp Duffel. My latest purchase is actually my third Base Camp duffel. I have a small one for short local trips. My massive XXL duffel has been carried twice to Mount Everest Base Camp and 3 times to Cerro Aconcagua. It is well worn and showing its age but still very usable. I no longer climb mountains so now the XXL duffel is used for my SCUBA diving gear.
My latest purchase, the XL Base Camp Duffel is for a family trip to Paris. We will be staying at Air B&B's all over the city. I like the Base Camp Duffel because it can be worn as a pack, which makes it easy to move around the city. The XL duffel is also not so large that it can't be scrunched down and carried on to an airplane. The Base Camp duffel is a very versatile and well built bag for all your travels.

Where do I start, this classic yellow is just brilliant, stylish, and well designed. After purchasing the Large, and Medium I wanted a duffel bag that was easier to store and carry. This is the one!

I use these base camp duffels for weekend trips, beach vacations, work trips, etc. I have two of the small size and one medium. These bags are great!

No other duffels measure up to the TNF base camp duffels. They are indestructible and weather proof - rain, snow, ice, dust. They carry my geology field gear, yes, including rock hammers, in summer and sit in any weather, no worries, on airstrips waiting for planes. They carry mushing gear in winter inside my dogsled. Stash the straps for airport carousels, and they handle every type of baggage handler abuse. I have watched my bags get literally thrown out of jets and land on the tarmac. Honestly, I have a base camp duffel of every size and so does everyone in my family. My son uses his for hockey gear -yes skates and all. My daughter is a world traveller; she travels light, with nothing but a TNF duffel: it is very secure with the opening against your back when you wear it like a pack. The design is so well thought out - TNF has thought of everything and the quality is 100%. No other bag compares. All my geology colleagues have them and depend on them as much as I do. They are widely recommended!

I absolutely love this bag. It was perfect for my annual fishing trip with the guys. I got a lot of compliments on the bag and it was large enough to hold 5 days of clothes for the trip. The back pack option is great and the bag just feels so durable. Highly recommend

Durable, lightweight but still made well. Fit perfect into the airplane overhead on a large and smaller plane. Love that it's waterproof too, it definitely feels like it will last me a long time

Great Bag. Perfect for Travel. Is perfect carry on luggage size which is between 40L / 50L.
Originally I bought the Size M but I found is bigger than what I expected.
Size S is definitely the perfect size for a week trip ( if your organize and optimize your outfits), I traveled with this one in Europe and is under airlines standard for carry on.
When I purchase the Size M I filled the bag and it was heavy for carry on my back around the airpot. So Size S is the one!
Don't underestimate because says size S, is actually a decente Size.

Just used this for a Weekend Trip to San Francisco. Held up great even with the extra jackets and jeans I packed. Even held my towel and 2 pairs of shoes inside. I normally wear this bag with one strap crossed if Its empty but the ability to use it with 2 straps is great too.
I originally purchased this bag to go on the back of my motorcycle, as the construction is great for rough weather. However, I find myself using it way more often and for different reasons. I have recommended it to friends already and will continue to do so. Great quality and construction!

The size is perfect for a weekend trips and it is without a doubt the most durable duffel I've owned. I love that it has backpack straps which offers options on how to carry it around. I also appreciate that it can be compressed down flat and stowed into its own carrying case. I'd certainly recommend the Base Camp to anyone else looking for a duffel, regardless of use case.

Used this for the first time on my trip to Leadville, CO and it was perfect. Super durable construction and I love that I can wear it as a backpack. Plenty of storage compartments for cellphone chargers, keys, etc. This bag will for sure be my bag for all 2 and 3 day getaways in the future.
