I need to wear orthotics, but prefer the vibram five fingers because of my bunions and because it lets me feet be as wide as it wants to be.
I also need a little bit more padding than typical vibrams offer, because my feet are super thin and I can feel every sharp, hard thing under my foot. This model fits the bill in every aspect! The sole is perfect balance between flexibility and padding. I am able to insert my orthotics when my plantar fasciitis and posterior tibial tendonitis flare up. The cotton upper is breathable for not-overly hot days. I just wish VFF would use this sole on their more summer friendly shoes like V-soul.

In my quest for the perfect Fivefingers walking shoe, I was hopeful that the V-Trek would be the one. The sole felt thicker in the center and thinner on the sides, which made my feet want to roll in. I tried to adjust to them but this was really a sticking point. The thicker sole also meant it was harder and stiffer and I felt like I lost the barefoot feel, which is a big part of the draw for me. I think on a trail with rocks and other things one needs to protect one's feet from, these might be good. I need a shoe for my long daily walks in the neighborhood and light off-roading. Sadly, these were not for me.

I ordered a size bigger in order to wear a pair of toe socks with them for winter wear. Turned out perfectly. Like the taller ankle fit again for wintertime wear. Lots of cushioning as well.

These shoes need breaking in because of the ankle collar, however, the outsole on this shoe is particularly comfortable and protective for a vibram fivefinger. I usually run in the V-Trail but I've found them to be not very protective of my foot on rocky terrain. The V-Treks feel much more protective and I was able to walk easily on very rocky terrain without feeling every rock in my foot. I want to use these for trail running to replace the V-trails, but they will need to be broken in due to the rubbing of the collar on the back of my heel.
I wore them in sandy areas and I didn't get sand in my shoe which always happens to me in the V-trail and the V-run.
I also want to get the insulated version of the V-trek for winter. Great shoe! Love it!
I also have a wide forefoot, and vibram fivefingers are the only shoe I have found that is wide enough in the forefoot.
Just make sure you go slowly when switching to these shoes from conventional running shoes. It takes time to build up the foot strength.

Love the design and color. They have more cushion than all other Vibrams I have worn in the past. I would’ve kept them, but I couldn’t get past the fact that the fourth toe was shorter than normal. It made my toe feel crunched up. I’ve never had this happen in any Vibrams and it was so strange. I wish the toes were a little longer and they wish they were waterproof!
Side note: They arrived via UPS in a plastic UPS bag and they were wet. It was really strange because it hadn’t rained in days, the driveway was dry where they left them, and the bag wasn’t wet. The box was soaked and the shoes were wet. The shoes weren’t damaged and it wouldn’t have stopped me from keeping them if they had fit well. It was just weird.

Since I got these 6 days ago, I have put over 30 miles on them just walking my dog. I have been wearing Five Fingers ever since they have been making them but this is my first pair with laces. They are, of course, more difficult to get on but with a shoe horn we are good to go. I got my normal size and they fit just like they should (with and without socks), like a glove. I love them so much I have already ordered a second pair.

These shoes are extremely uncomfortable. They dug into my Achilles tendon and I could hardly walk. I undid the highest lacing and put on socks and they were still painful. There is no way I could walk in these.

I love these... so used to wearing the low tops it will take some adjustment, but for colder weather it will be nice to have my ankles covered!

As others have said..the heel rubs and not in a good way. Also, for me I could feel the threads in rheumatoid arthritis area of my big toe. Otherwise, I like the shoe. Since I wear (workout in their shoes, I was really hoping…disappointing.

The size is right but the back of the shoe has too much angle and digs into my achilles tendon if I'm not careful lacing them. I would not choose these for hiking in rough terrain, the sole is too flexible and thin, but they're very grippy on wet grass and pavement.

Overall fit is ok. However, the tongue and the back of the heels rub, thus not comfortable. The 2nd toe is bothersome.
