I have only been wearing the TX5 GTX for a few weeks but it's been great so far. I was concerned about the size since this was my first pair of La Sportivas and I had read a lot of different opinions about the La Sportiva sizing. I got measured at a retailer with a La Sportiva foot measuring tool and the end of my toe came right up to the 42.5 line. The retail associate told me if I was getting an approach shoe that I should probably go up a size unless I wanted it to be really snug. I ordered the 42.5 anyway and it fits great and not too tight at all. I also got the TX4 in 42.5 and it's the same great fit. It's important to me that a hiking shoe provides a balance of comfort and support to protect my feet as well as flexibility that won't compromise athletic performance.

Overall great boots. Goretex, great. Ankle support, great. Fit, great. Minor issues: couple of loops in the back might be a good idea for an approach shoe if you are going to clip then to harness, but these are too large to have then dangling around. These loops tend to get stuck in the hooks, tripped a couple of times before it broke. Probably better like this!

Excellent for rough terrain in moderate climates. Wore for 2 weeks non-stop in the mountains of central Asia with heavy loads and impressive. Good grip, supportive, decent friction on rock. Not too warm. Only issue is they wet out, leather needs more waterproofing, but they didn't soak thru. Feet stayed dry but boots took a few days to fully dry again. Broke a hook too. A perfect boot to my mind wouldn't have hooks at all.

Once these boots arrive at your door, you'll fall in love. It is a beautiful boot, and you can bet that they perform. Done plenty of slabbing and approaching and its like your foot is rooted to the ground every step. I've had no problems with the gor tex, its been nothing but exactly what gor tex is. Though not insulated, these boots are warm with a nice pair of wool socks. The only thing that is a little annoying is the breaking in process. the heel is where you will feel it the most but after maybe a week of wearing that will go away.

So far these boots have been amazing, they're comfortable, feel strong, super quiet, and really feel like they make things get out of their way.

They sizing is spot on. I love the look of this boot, finally something in brown and black in stead of a weird greenish or multicolor. So far the boots are awesome, I've had them for about a month now and hiked a few dozen miles. Great tread! They appear to be holding up well for the miles. Our spring has been extra wet so I've been able to test the Gortex a lot, no wet feet. The only discomfort I've experienced was on the inside, back of the boots where the back or vertical part of your heel touches the boot there is no cushioning of any sort so it took awhile for my heel to build calluses and toughen up. Now they're are great. Adding some cushioning there would be the only thing I would change about this boot, then it would be a perfect fit right out of the box.
