So many foot problems. Flat feet, rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, both ankles have been broken. Toes are so painful as well as the rest of the feet and ankles. This shoe gives my toes room to spread out and gives great stabilty. I do use custom orthotics in place of the insole but the shoe itself is what really makes the difference. I hope they never change this shoe!

I walk often and I have arthritis in my feet. With an insert, these walking sneakers work well. I can walk again which I love.

Love these shoes! I have problem feet, and have experienced significant pain even when wearing other highly-recommended brands. Since I bought these shoes, my issues have all but gone away - no knee pain, no back pain, and I no longer dread heading out the door to get my exercise.

I like the shoe. It is very comfortable, but runs a little big based on the last pair of NB shoes I bought. I would definitely buy them again though.

These shoes are comfortable and true to size. Great room in the toe box. I work mostly on my feet all day and these are helping with low back pain.

I've been wearing a different brand of shoes for about five years and their fit and quality have gone downhill. I'm in my mid fifties, and I walk 1.5 to 2 miles every morning for exercise. I have a bad right foot with a permanent tendon injury and a rebuilt ankle. Wearing well made shoes is important, or I'll be in pain. This was my first foray into New Balance. I chose this model for the price point and good reviews, and because of Covid 19 I had to take a chance on fit by having them shipped. I wear a 6.5 in most shoes and these fit perfectly in the standard width . A good amount of cushion, no pinch points and a roomy but not ridiculously large toe box. I was initially surprised at how little arch support they appeared to have but I've walked over 10 miles in them and they are fine. (Maybe my other shoes just have more arch support than I need?). They needed absolutely no break in. The bottoms are stiff but I like them and I became used to that pretty quickly. My only complaint is the color choices - I'd prefer a gray bottom and shoelace instead of the white to make these more work appropriate. Based on these I'll be exploring other shoes in this line.

The pair of NB 999's needed to be replaced and I found this pair online. They are very comfortable and would consider buying them again.

My feet, for lack of a better word, are deformed, with extreme bunions that probably take my foot from a medium shoe to the 2E that I currently use, also requiring custom orthotics due to overpronation. I am so grateful for these shoes - it often takes me hours, days, weeks, to shop for new shoes and this is the second time I was able to purchase this model - which has made my "essential" retail job where I spend 8+ hours a day on my feet running all over the store, a realistic possibility. Especially appreciated now with Covid, where jobs that are considered essential are few and far between and we are fighting to keep our business going. Thank you so much!

I am an avid walker for keeping with fitness. I am a repeat purchaser of New Balance products. It has provided great wear, comfort, and the benefit of getting wide widths size. Most Sneaker competitors do not carry the various sizes.

I wear 840's everyday with my orthopedic inserts. They have saved my feet and knees.

I wish they were a little sleeker looking. There are so few "completely black" sneakers that are not clunky looking. I thought they looked a little clunky when I opened them. I almost sent them back without trying them on. Once on they made my feet look a little smaller and not too clunky and without any doubt the most comfortable sneaker or shoe I have ever owned. I retired to watch my grandchildren 2 and 6 months amid the Corona Virus Pandemic so my daughter & son in law could continue to work. I am walking a few miles a day and my feet feel great in these.

These shoes are great for walking. I can also fit my custom inserts in them. Comfort and style at its best!

These shoes were just as advertised. They look great for a casual shoe in terms of color and the suede look. Certainly can be worn on more dressy occasions without looking too much like a sneaker!

this is my 3rd pair of suede, the other 2 pairs purchased in a shoe store so I could be fitted properly, I have to wear a Richie brace that has to fit in the shoe all the way to the toes. Poidirtris recommend me to use the 840 shoe to accommodate the brace. and it works well.

I require custom orthotics as well as a wide shoe. The fact that I know my shoe size and have purchased this exact brand previously makes shopping easier. Free shipping is a delight!
