Love these shoes! Well made and sturdy. They fit well and do not slip on my foot. I walk about seven miles a day for health and these shoes work the best for this.

I've been buying American-made shoes for 25 years. I would buy them even if they were made out of wood. I'm so tired of everything being imported!!

Love the rise in the ankle. How about some high tops New Balance?

I love the American-made 990 New Balance shoes. I am a big guy and needed ankle support so I was looking for a 3/4 top. I did not even know New Balance made this 3/4 top and then in 990. The shoe is awesome more support than the normal shoe because it's a boot. That's what people have to remember let us not the same shoe. And is awesome for walking trails and hiking. I'm a police officer and spend a lot of time on my feet and I know what a good shoe is and this is one of them. I wish they would make it incomplete solid black so I can wear it on duty. And again it is made in the USA it doesn't get any better than that. Please do not compare this three-quarter top to it's sister shoe the low top. Different soul on it which is better for us big guys. I am 6'3" and wear a size 13. I played football and was a power lifter so this shoe is perfect.

Been wearing 990v4 for years - saw these and took a chance. They are awesome - great casually and also when you need a bit more "cool" and dressy. Perfect fit (10.5D), love the support and stability - also great in cold weather, and surprisingly good traction on icy surfaces. At first I wasn't sure about a mid style - now totally sold.

The styling is perfect for my taste. The construction is top notch. They feel extremely sturdy and comfortable. And best of all they are made right here in the good ole USA.

Very happy with them, if you can get them cheap well worth it.

Have been wearing the 990v4 regular sneakers for years. My experience has been that these new high tops fit identical (9.5 wide). Comfort around the ankle area is excellent. Laces are perfect length and stay snuggly tied. Great traction on both pavement and dirt. Breathes really well. After a full day of hiking there's no fatigue or aching feet. Not much more I can say other than it's an extremely well made, comfortable, and stylish sneaker. That's my opinion anyway.

Hi Tops was used back when I was much younger & as a basketball sneaker! But now I bought my first "hi top" shoe in my favorite 990's New Balance shoe! A favorite because its one of very few makes available in wide widths of 4E. These are comfortable and always feel just right when but on! With the mid-high the shoe is even more stable for my foot.

First time I've ever bought these and they are EXCELLENT. They fit correctly, look great and are the exact width I needed!!

This shoe is the closest thing to a running shoe / hybrid I've ever worn. I've been wearing 99x series newbalances for the last decade, 991s 998s 990s, etc. these are absolutely on par with the quality and comfort that any else of those shoes will provide, with a much greater level of ankle support and stability. I use these for some trail running/ hiking, but I would also be comfortable wearing them playing basketball, or just casually walking around all day. Great shoe! Make more high top shoes new balance, I'll buy them all!

The quality is second-to-none. Sizing is TTS and the comfort is outstanding. The mesh material is weather-resistant, making these the perfect cold weather shoe. Love them.

Best fitting pair since I had ones similar in white back in the 90's. I'm buying 2 more pairs before you stop making this model. I LOVE THEM!

I rarely write reviews but thought this product worth a note. Truth be told I run in different NB shoes than the 990s. I use my 990s as my "professional" shoes (my mother wanted me in wingtips - sigh) and for walk abouts. I generally do about 30 miles of walking a week (independent of my time at work) and don't feel I "know" a shoe till I get over 100 miles with it (running or walking). The last of this shoe (as in the base form) seems identical to the low cut version but the sides a bit stiffer and the tread/sole slightly "stickier". I bought these as light hiking boots (wood trails and low hills and along the Central NH rail trail) and am very pleased. If the low cut 990s fit your foot "like a glove" (as they do mine) these will serve you well. My only suggestion for improvement is that my feet tend to swell a little at end of day - a small loop at back of shoe would help get them on and off. My size is 104e in low cut and these fit same. I hope this helps you.

I have extremely flat feet. Even with orthopedic inserts I need special shoes to give me the support I need to keep my ankles in the right orientation. These shoes give me better support than anything I've had. When I put them on and showed my wife her one word response says it all: "Wow".

Great shoes and fit very well. Fantastic looking!! I highly recommend pay the price it's well worth it for the high quality. Very easy to break in! I'm very satisfied! New balance is the best.
