The description says the bag is leather on the Fossil site, but once you receive the bag and read the tag attached it says "This collection contains pieces that are made from performance-minded material of touch-able smooth coated leather." What does that mean exactly, if not synthetic material made from chemicals which may not be healthy to handle, as we know pvc is toxic. So while this bag is made of leather, it's coated with man-made products so that it feels synthetic and doesn't feel like leather at all. As a matter of fact on my receipt from the Fossil online purchase the first bag "Harper" says leather and the 2nd bag "Rachael" says 'plastic'. Completely bummed because I love the shape, size and silhouette of the bag with huge zip opening and exterior pockets. I've been waiting for Fossil to make a bag like this....but in Real Leather....Please Fossil do this bag over again, if in just leather I'd buy it in a heart-beat!

Did not like the color, it is dull and it looks like a vinyl bag. I returned it. It is functional but very disappointing for the price.

This is a wonderful purse. I appreciate some of the comments that indicate unhappiness with the "coating" on the leather but I have to tell you that's one of my favorite things about it. I've owned nice leather purses that need to be sheltered from the rain and that is a pain. This little charmer has been exposed to the elements and the leather looks just like new because of that coating. I like a purse that does the job without being fussy. It's very roomy and it looks classic as a cross body. I've also carried it without the long strap and it's super cute. It stands up on its own and there's a place for all my things without it feeling or looking stuffed. I'm wondering if the narrow strap will be quite as comfortable when the weather warms (hence the 4 stars) and I'm not wearing a coat but I guess we'll see. I would like a wider strap ordinarily but with this purse, the narrow one looks just right.

I love this purse. I am a purse fanatic. This one is the perfect size. I don't like too big and I don't like small. This one holds more than you would think because of the wide bottom but it still is not huge looking. I have it in blue and black. The black is so pretty. It is so soft right from the first day.

I love this bag! It holds a ton, it’s lightweight comfortable to carry, and the sage color is adorable for spring/summer. This is actually the third Rachel satchel I own, and I’m excited to have her in my collection.

I WANTED to love it. Beautiful color. This is a smaller bag, although the width makes it quite roomy. It can fit a large wallet, checkbook and cosmetic bag. With all that stuff in there is still some leftover space. I cannot stand the upright handles, they are stiff and in the way when you try to unzip the bag. The handles will never get broken in and fall over like the Sydney Satchel. The long strap kept slipping off my shoulder -probably a side affect from the coated leather. I used the purse for less than an hour and realized it wasn't going to work. It's going back.

liked the style, but it is all sinthetic. covered canvas or something like that.

I absolutely LOVE this handbag! It is the perfect size, love the outside pockets and inside pockets. I love the top handles and the longer cross body strap. The best part of the handbag is, the double zippers and how it opens up so wide. It’s not a huge handbag, but it holds so much. I bought the Black Stripe and loved it so much I went back and ordered the Brown leather. It is the perfect handbag!

This bag is awful. It's not leather, it's plastic. I have several vegan leather bags that I feel proud to wear as they age well and no one can tell the difference. For $168, I should receive a real leather bag. I can get a better bag at Target for $39.99.

I absolutely LOVE this bag! Meticulously wrapped and packaged. ...And is beautiful. I don't buy black handbags. I do browns. But this one has the brown accents that i love when paired w black. Huge plus is i love shapes like my Louis speedy. But i hate its difficult to access the inside to find things. Some amazing person decided to make it zip from top all the way to the bottom of the sides! Yay for you Fossil designer! you nailed it!!! I wish the straps were real leather like they used to be but you also did an amazing job with the quality and looks for the next best thing. And i saved a cow!!

I have a multitude of bags, many of them crossbody. I've wanted a light-weight, good looking crossbody large enough to hold all-day items, including a small water bottle. The Fossil Rachel bag is ideal. I am very happy. It's light-weight, has a youthful schoolgirl vibe, yet classic and tasteful for adult women. Even containing all my business-personall items, it weighs less than some of my pricy crossbody bags. I also love that Zappos items are fairly priced, arrive quickly and that returns are uncomplicated. Zappos offers rare excellent customer serivce. And a great selection.

I wanted to size up just a tad, but I don't like large purses, as I am rather short. I have always loved the Fossil brand, and for me, it's an investment. So I was thrilled to take it out of the box and see it first-hand. It is carefully packaged (I don't spend a lot of money, so this is a treat for me) and I was so happy. It is just what I was hoping for--a great size with beautiful styling and real leather. Pockets on the outside to keep my phone handy and on the inside for glasses and sunglasses. Love this bag!!

Year's ago I would have said too small. But it really is the perfect size at least for me. I love that the bag opens up so that you can find stuff and fit your hand inside because the zippers go all the way down on each side. And, the price was amazing!

Very nice purse, lots of room, the peg-in-hole adjustment on the strap that doesn't bend the leather like a regular buckle, and lots of pockets for organization. Unfortunately, it was just too fat and bulky for my personal taste, and I'm reluctantly sending it back.
