To be fair, my Veronica Slouch boots are 4 years old and I wear them more days than not fall/winter/spring. They are stylish and comfortable. I'm not afraid to throw down big bucks for Frye boots because they last forever. Not so true with this style. The slouch got slouchier over the years and now the shaft sags and wont stay up. They still look and feel fine over skinny jeans, but because they fall down I cannot wear them with skirts anymore. FYI--my cobbler told me she's seen this a lot and it cannot be fixed.

My new favorites boots: very comfortable and very stylish (except I wish the leather wasn't pebbled), probably size down by ½ size. Long version: Firstly, I absolutely love Frye boots, but I think Frye's sizing and quality are extremely inconsistent (My best advice is, if possible, go to the store and try on multiple pairs of the same size). I've only ordered directly from Amazon.com or Zappos--no 3rd party sellers-- so I'm fairly sure all of the pairs I received were authentic. I've ordered multiple pairs of the both the original Veronica Slouch and also the newly-released Veronica Slouch 2 and was frustrated by the different quality/fit between different pairs of the same size/color. I ordered 3 pairs of the Veronica Slouch 2: size 7 in black, 7.5 in black, and 7.5 in smoke. SIZING The 7 fit pretty well from the start, though it was a struggle to get my foot in the first time (high arches), but I didn't have to undo the buckles. Still, I was very nervous to keep them because I'm so consistently a 7.5 (I'm a 7.5 in Merrell, Teva, Born, Nike, and in Frye's Melissa Button Back Zip). I tried them on again when I got home the next day, and they slid on beautifully. I wore them around the house for 30 minutes or so and could feel them begin to conform to my foot. I hesitantly decided to send back the 7.5s. But in my experience leather stretches, and after a few days of minimal wear, I can now wear even thick winter socks with them very comfortably. These were easier, by far, to break-in than Frye's Melissa Button Back Zip. If it helps anyone with sizing, I also measured the footbed. The size 7 length was about 10 ¼ inches and the 7.5 length was about 10 ½ inches. The widths were comparable, the 7.5 was slightly wider, but I can't remember the exact measurements. I ended up measuring my most comfortable boots for comparison, Teva de La Vina size 7.5, and the length was also 10 ¼ inches--this is what made me feel better about keeping the black size 7. AESTHETICS I LOVE them and I wish there were more colors (not that I could really afford more!). I'm about 5'3" and my calves are just under 14". I love this shaft height. Though the leather is very soft and supple, the boots don't slouch much on me, I think the raw leather inside provides some friction against my leggings/tights that hold them up a bit. I love them with leggings and tights with dresses. They are also warmer than I expected. I've worn them in about 35 degrees with just thin socks. I was also comfortable walking in them for miles on campus with a heavy backpack. Oh and I expected the smoke color to be a deep dark gray. It is an odd color that seems to change depending on different lighting. It seemed like it could look blackish, grayish, brownish, or purple-ish. It wasn't for me. Returned. The black, like the other review mentioned, is definitely and obviously pebbled. I'm not a fan of pebbled leather but they were so comfortable and perfect in all the other ways that I still love them. This is the only reason I marked down one star for style. It would've been a perfect boot, imo, if they'd used the smoother leather as they had in previous iterations of this boot. But they did finally change the brown sole to black to actually match the uppers, so that was positive. Good luck with your search! And thanks Zappos for being the best!!

First, I love Frye boots! This is my 2nd pair to purchase, but I have tried on multiple pairs (all ordered through Zappos). They smell amazing (love the leather smell). I have larger calves and am 5'2. These did not slouch on me, which is fine. They hit me just below the knew which was perfect. The color was also beautiful (a rich brown). I am a true 7.5 and have ordered 7.5 in Frye boots in the past. I found these to be true to size. The boot only gave a little slippage in the heel, which is perfect for me. Two concerns: First, I wish the buckles had more "holes" so that I could tighten, both at the knee and ankle. Second, and most important, they are VERY NARROW across the toe box (ball of foot). The right was tighter than the left. I read several reviews which said they will give some, so I am hoping that is true. I plan to wear some thicker socks around my house to see if they will give. If you have wider feet, I would NOT recommend purchasing. My other pair of Frye's did not fit this narrow, so I was pretty surprised. Overall, I am happy with the purchase. I will see if they give some. Time will tell if they slouch too much as previous reviews stated. I did purchase at 33% off so I feel the price and what I received was adequate. I would most likely not purchase at full price.

I got these from an online resell and loved them, the fit was right on, the 8.5 fit my 8.5 feet perfectly. They were very comfortable in the foot-bed and I loved the rubber lug sole. I loved the leather, but thought it was too thin, more thin than shown in the pictures of the boots online. Probably so they will slouch, hence the name? I would have liked the leather to be less thin, but overall a very comfortable, classic, versatile and stylish boot, with the added plus of rubber lug soles!

So bummed! These boots looked so awesome in the photo. I just got them and they were all squished up. I unsquished them and the leather was a completely different color than the photo. The foot was the pretty leather, the uppers were all dusty looking and faded. I sent back. These were not what I was expecting and I love Frye boots. Oh well........

I have the original Veronica Slouch 1 - these looks incredibly cheap by comparison. I was so disappointed because I’m trying to replace a pair my dog chewed but these are going back. I hope this isn’t indicative of Frye’s current or future quality as these are nothing close to the craftsmanship of my other Frye purchases.

I ordered my regular size, a 7.5, the first time and it was a little snug. For sure could not wear socks. But I wasn’t sure if the 8 would be too large. So I held on to the 7.5 while I waited on the size 8. The 8 was perfect and I could wear tights or a thin pair of socks. So I kept the 8 and returned the 7.5. The color is beautiful (vintage washed stone) but there was a slight variation in color intensity between the size 7.5 and the size 8. The 8 is a little bit browner which I like. I’m getting lots of compliments and they are very comfy. Great for work, walking and my feet feel very protected like I could go on a hike, a motorcycle ride, or really kick somebody’s *ss. For real - if you hit somebody with these boots you are going to hurt them. If they wear well over the long haul I would consider buying another pair in black.

Very stylish & comfortable. Packaged well. They seem to be well made. I can update more at a later time as they wear. I love them so far!

I've been wanting these for a long time and finally found them at Zappos. THEN discovered that they went on sale and they refunded the difference! I usually wear a 7 but they were out of stock and took a chance on the 7.5. So glad I did as I can't tell much of a difference. I highly recommend Frye and Zappos because you KNOW you're not getting a knock off!

Had to order one size up than I normally wear but great quality great look , little heavy on feet if your going to be walking a lot

Wow. Love love love these boots. Broken in after one wear, so comfy and beautiful leather. But really my amazement comes from the fact I got my order from Zappos in a day! I ordered on CYBER MONDAY and got them Tuesday afternoon! Love the boots and Love?? Zappos.

I love Frye boots! I now own 3 pairs. I really do like the Veronica slouch. I like how the buckle over the foot is adjustable so I can get a perfect fit. These boots are a hefty price but they are so worth the money.

I do like these boots and I almost kept them bu thave another pair almost identical.

These boots look great and seem to be of very good quality. They feel like they’ll last a long time. The sizing is a little small. I usually wear a 6.5 and even in other Frye boots I have a 6.5, but we these I literally couldn’t get it on my foot. I sized up to 7 and it fits, but still a bit snug. However, after even a half day of wearing around they already feel more comfortable.

The fit is true to size, if you get that lucky pair, I tried and sent back a few pairs. They are a bit tight at the ball of the foot, but after a few hours they loosed up and are comfortable. The Redwood color is rich and beautiful. I coated them with Brick 4 leather conditioner and the spotty color variation blended to look more natural. As for arch support, I have a high arch, so it does not offer the support I am used to. They look great with jeans and cute with a dress.
