I really like New Balance shoes when they fit!! I buy most everything on line, and NB is the most frustrating store going. Not Zappos, which is great, but I always order the same size & width and 3 of the last 5 NB orders have either been too narrow or too short requiring returns. I doubt that I order any more shoes from NB, but I will buy my shoes through Zappos. Zappos 5 stars, New Balance 2 star.

What's going on--all of a sudden New Balance shoes are too small/short!!

I bought these for my 13yo son - it's hard to find a wide enough shoe for him. While these may not be the most stylish thing for a teen to wear, they are comfortable. Definitely recommend if you have a wide foot.

Pretty much the only shoe my husband wants to wear. He has wide feet and is 70yo. He absolutely loved them right out of the box. He said it was the first shoe he never had to break in. 4 months now and it’s all he seems to wear.

my normal size is 9.5 4e. this particular shoe runs small by 1\2 size. ordered 10 4e and the fit was perfect. other than the size issue, this shoe is very comfortable but you have to replace the insole it comes with as is the case with most NB shoes because the original insole is not very good like most of NB shoes that are under 100 dollars. the instep and toebox depth is very generous too. those of you who liked the 608v4 should consider this shoe as a worthy replacement because the v5 608 is nowhere near as generous as it is not made on an sl-2 last anymore. this shoe is made on an ol-3 last i think.which has the instep and depth of the sl-2 but not the length. hence the 1\2 size up requirement for the shoe. you will not go wrong with this shoe .

I am a size 11.5 and have bought New Balance before in 11.5, although not recently. So, I ordered 11.5 and they were way too small. I returned them and ordered 12. The size 12 fit front to back, but was too narrow. The width was "D medium". I have a narrow foot and have never needed wide shoes. The second pair was also returned.

Without a doubt, this is the most uncomfortable pair of shoes I have ever purchased. I know my size - all the shoes I own are the same. These shoes, even though the correct size, just didn't fit. My toes felt squished and they were just basically bad - even to the point of causing back pain when I walked in them. I still like New Balance shoes, but I'm hoping this pair is the exception rather than the rule.

Bought a pair of these about 2 years ago to work in. At 6'5", 300+lbs, and 14-4E, I'm on and off my feet 12 hours a day, 5-6 days a week and 90% of my job is outside in all kinds of weather and terrain. These shoes are one of the most durable, most comfortable, most versatile, and reasonably priced shoe, I have ever worn. I run through ALOT of shoes in my line of work, and with being diabetic, it's a challenge to find shoes that first are comfortable enough for me to wear, especially for the long hours and second, shoes that will hold up to the abuse and constant activity. These shoes have been so awesome, I found another pair and bought them also, just so I would have them when this pair finally are ready to be retired. They are very easy to clean, just damp cloth, wipe them off and out the door again. If they have alittle more dirty on them, just a little mild soap on a damp cloth and it cleans right off. I'm super impressed with this New Balance style/version of shoes and just hope that when it is finally discontinued and nowhere to be found in my size and I've used and ready to retire my back-up pair as well, that the replacement style is just as durable, comfortable, flexible, and as nice looking as these have been. No more, no less...if its not broke, then don't fix it. Thanks ??

Overall the shoe was very good. The one thing I need is a wide toe box. The width in the middle was fine, but from there the curve toward the toe crimped my toes.

I'm always a bit skittish about mail order shoes.. needing a very wide shoe, makes it difficult to find shoes I really like, in the size and width I need. I saw where the reviews said to order a half size larger than what you normally wear...so I did, and they were PERFECT! The 4E with was true to form as well! New Balance is about the only shoe I can find that fit and feel comfortable to me.I'll be ordering more from Zappos...I'm impressed!!

I bought these for my husband and he has worn them everyday since they arrived. He says they fit like he expected and he likes them and they are shoes. Ha ha ha. I had to drag that information out of him.

Run small, get 1/2 size bigger

I always wear a 14 in New Balance but these were more narrow at the tip which pinched my toes and made them unwearable for me. They look really nice though

I work on my feet all day on concrete. My feet hurt at the end of the day. Also, they're too narrow.

I’m on my feet all day and I really like the added cushion they have. They are just the right width and feel like they will last me a long time.

Great shoe and priced low. More sturdy than a typical running show, made for trail running. Doesn’t look that beefy but it’s a bit stiffer than a road runner shoe.

I have been wearing these shoes for two months as work shoes: my daily footwear. I ordered a second pair for wearing in public. I recommend these shoes. They are lightweight, not hot to wear and comfortable. I may even order a third pair and put them in storage for future use. I like them...just as good as the high end expensive shoes IMO. Thank you.

Been wearing these shoes for one month solid. I like them. No complaints. Ordering a backup pair; second pair. They are light and comfortable and look good too. I recommend them.

I love this company and never buy shoes anywhere else.Once you find your size it is the easiest way to get exactly what you want every time. I have extremely wide feet and getting the right size at any store is problematic. Not with Zappos great store great service highly recommend

Great fit and good looking shoe. I purchased the extra wide 4e and is very true to its size.

Looking for a sneaker/trail runner shoe for fall/winter that was not white and goes with jeans. This fit the bill well. I was wearing a pair of 623 brown, but NB has dropped the 6-7 colors they had a couple of years ago to just 2-3. These 481s are actually lighter weight, although we will see how warm they are since the uppers are mostly porous, I assume for more ventilation for trail running. As with all my NB shoes, I immediately tossed the useless footbeds that have no support and inserted a new pair of Pinnacle power steps, actually glad all NB have removable footbeds. So far so good, very comfortable, seem true to size for me (11.5 D)
