It really pains me to write a negative review for these Vibram Furoshiki New Yorker as I am a Five Finger die hard. I ordered a small which felt like my true size. What I did like about these shoes was the zero drop heel and ample toe room, which is hard to find in most any shoe. But the top of the plastic heel cup absolute dug into the back of my Achilles area. Unfortunately it's not leather or any kind of other material that will "break in" or become more comfortable over time. Also the length of material used to wrap the shoe around my ankle was very short. I have what I would call thin calves and ankles and in order to wrap the shoe to meet the Velcro fastening it had to wrap VERY tightly around my lower calves and ankles. Especially over my skinny jeans (as is how I imagine they are meant to be worn). It was very uncomfortable and felt like it would cut off my circulation. I can only imagine how this would fit someone with the same size foot but larger or even just average sized calves. I really, truly hope that Vibram improves on this fit and comfort aspect. I did love the chic look and design otherwise, and the rest of the fabric seemed perfect for a nice fall/early winter shoe.
