I think this shoe is great. They grip extremely good on wet rock and drain well through streams. I have wore them on two rugged 50k trail races and they performed extremely well, no black toe nails. I did not notice any break in period. I am wearing a size 12.5, in a Brooks Cascadia I wear a size 12.

In 3 months I have become my GO TO running shoe. I have worn and love my Saucony Peregrines(up to 4 pair now) but I have since converted to this shoe. I average 20 miles a week on trails and hard packed trails. I dont mind them on road, but I always prefer trail regardless. Mile after mile these get better and better...especially after a good soaking.
These are great as light hikers too.
Light, and luxury comfort. The color is a bit funky, but who cares. The fit is fantastic. Comfy footbed, extra room in the toolbox, plus the exterior toebox protection. And I love the laces garage.
Please don't stop making these.

I’m 6’3” 245lbs and run about 25miles per week. I’ve put nearly 500 miles on these shoes, and love them. I keep thinking I will branch out on my next pair of running shoes, but really, there is no need to. I am buying my second pair of Saucony Kia Tr shoes! Here’s to the next 500 miles! :)

The Koa TR is a fantastic trail shoe. It's very comfortable, with only minimal break-in required. The gusset keeps out dust and debris, and the upper seems pretty durable. Great looking and great price.

Great shoes. Nice and light while still supportive. The orange and blue go nice together.

In3 months of owning these I have run at least 7 miles several times a week over treacherous Pennsylvania, Appalachian terrain - ranging from grass, dirt, mud, asphalt, gravel, fist sized rocks up to boulders. I feel none of them. It's a smooth ride the whole way.
The insole and midsole provide optimum stiffness with ample cushion and a very comfortable arch. I feel like I'm gliding.
The outsole has a large surface area which offers plenty of traction; and with proper mindfulness, core strength and agility - rarely will I slide.
The upper is brilliant as well: excellent breathability and lightweight construction while not compromising integrity. Flat laces and well made tongue allow optimum comfort across top of foot (this is a big one for me and most shoes hurt the top of my foot).
I change 1600ft elevation several times and the shoe stays exactly where I've positioned it - even on the steepest descent.
I believe these shoes to be a conduit to getting myself even more harmonious with the earth.
I plan to try them out backpacking. The new red looks fantastic!

Over the past several months in my first paur of Koa TR I have run the Rim2Rim2Rim at the Grand Canyon, climbing King's Peak in Utah in a day, run laps around the peaks in the Wasatch Front, and these shoes keep rocking!! Fantastic feel, solid grip, smooth flow...and the tread on both shoes is still in near perfect condition. I will definitely buy another pair once my current pair is done.

I wore this shoe for the JFK 50 mile race this past November. It was the perfect shoe, as the race covered technical trail, crushed gravel, and road. I never had to switch shoes and never felt like my feet weren't in a good place. Highly recommend if you'll be on a wide array of surfaces during your run. It also fits a bit wide in the toe box, which is a good thing if you'll be out there for a while.

This shoe wasn't quite what I was expecting but I am pleasantly surprised. It's more supportive than I expected, there is a very thick, soft insole with a lot of arch support. People wanting a minimalist shoe will be disappointed. The midsole is pretty thick too and after I put them on and walked around I thought they were a little firm for my taste but after a short run I realized I was wrong, they are quite soft to run in with almost no mush which helps them feel very fast. Overall extremely nice ride, a touch firmer than the Kinvara 7. The firmer midsole will be great at protecting feet from rocks on trails. The toe box is awesome, very wide and somewhat foot shaped without being as extreme as Altra's, however, it's pretty tight in the midfoot which could be a deal breaker for those with wide feet. Be sure to lean toward sizing up, the Koa is a little short. The upper is great, it's a pretty thin tight weave that breathes well. The outsole might be my favorite part, I haven't run trails in these yet but I am confident that they will do great in my dry, Southern California environment. There is so much ground contact it felt just like a road shoe on my test run. This shoe is basically a trimmed down Challerger ATR 3, which I enjoy a lot. The Koa is somehow more supportive, much less mushy though not quite a soft, has a better toe box, a more breathable upper and has better grip on the roads. I like it better. That said, this shoe is a little heavier and has less trail grip. Both shoes have a nice wide platform which I love, I hate rolling ankles. I held them up sole to sole and they were the same width.
I highly recommend for any distance, I hope this shoe catches on and Saucony makes it in a bunch of colors, oh the blue is great too btw.

Overall the show is great but when looking at the picture of shoe on website, the color looks orange/ black. When shoes arrive they were a fluorescent pink/ black. So not what I was expecting. Color on website is called viziRed which it sure is visible but not really what website shoes.

Very comfortable and well made shoes. However, the pictures on the website are deceptively red (like a candy apple red). They have a slightly pinkish upper and an outright neon coral midsole (akin to Nike's "infrared color"). I was a little surprised and disappointed by that development.

Starts off pretty stuff, and takes a few runs to start breaking them in. But once they are broken in, by far one of the best shoes I have ever owned.

Please continue this shoe!! It does run small and the lugs need a little work but these are AWESOME shoes. It's honestly close to being a serious monster. Love them

My expectations were not super high but they were exceeded. I was impressed with how much difference the shoe felt with the EVERUN topsole in as opposed to out. I have been able to run comfortably in the KOA TR on pea gravel, fairly technical trails and even some roads. The toe box is perfectly roomy and the fit was nearly true. It was slightly small length wise but only noticeable after very long runs. I will say this shoe restored my faith in Saucony and the new technology is all it is hyped up to be.

Overall, the Saucony Koa TR is a solid shoe for trails and the occasional road run. The upper is well constructed and allows for ample breathability. The tongue is well cushioned and helps the Koa provide a comfortable fit. For some reason it took the Koa a bit longer to break in than previous Saucony shoes I have run in (mostly the Peregrine 6). However, once broken in, the ride was very comfortable on trails or road. I did experience some sliding when running on technical trails, but overall the traction is sufficient for the trails I run on. My one major complaint and reason for a 3 start review is the almost unbearable squeaking that has started in both shoes (after approximately 50 miles). When wet (or sweaty), the insole seems to be moving slightly causing the squeak. If I can't figure out a way to fix this (maybe spray on adhesive on the underside of the insole?) then the Koa TR's will be retired.

Not entirely sure what the previous reviewer is talking about, though of course one's opinion of a shoe is highly subjective. I found these to be quite mushy, probably because of the everun insert - not something I'd whack in a trail shoe.
The shoe could also do with a slightly larger and more lateral heel bevel, mainly so the shoe can also be used for walking. Maybe also a fractional increase in toe-spring too as my feet slipped forward occasionally?
My main gripe with the shoe though is the heel hold. It hurts, hurts a lot, when going up steep hills.
As the review title says a good, but not great shoe - a couple of minor changes though and this will be great.
