This is a padded clown shoe for those who are going the distance. Like most Altra shoes the foot box is larger than normal which works great for me. I use the shoe for distance hiking and sometimes my feet swell. The larger toe box helps with swelling, steep downhills, and is especially helpful for people like me who have a second digit that is as long as their big toe. The cushion is immense and few rocks can be felt through the sole. Traction is respectable. Durability is TBD.

Usually wear an 11.5 D. Based on reviews ordered a size 12. Still felt too small - toes pushed up against front of shoe.

This shoe is excellent. I don't use it as a running shoe, but mainly for hiking. The toe box is nice and wide, you can move your toes, making you feel more secure on all trail variations. The Zero Drop tech is amazingly comfortable. I went from Merrell's to these and though the Merrell's are a great shoe, the comfort of this Olympus is unmatched. I usually wear a 9.5 with nike, addidas, and Merrell, but with these I had to size up to 10--perfection.

Shoes / feet are so subjective right, but I've used Altra's Lone Peak 2.5, 3.0, Timp, Provision 2.0, and now for the 1st time the Olympus 2.5. They each have their place, and I could say good and bad, about all of the Altra's I've gone thru. However, I wish I would have tried these a lot sooner! Great all around trail shoe, this is now my second pair, def will be back for another! The trails I go on, are not too technical, so all that cushioning doesn't really get in my way, it actually helps. Great job Altra, keep it up!

Order a half size bigger.

I like the shoe but the sizing of Olympus 2.5 is way off compared to others. It's frustrating having to order twice to get the correct size.

I love my old Altra Olympus 1.5s and am desperately trying to find some shoes that work for my feet since these are wearing thin. My 1.5s fit me just perfectly. But since then I have been unable to find an Altra shoe (or any other brand shoe) that works with my feet. I finally tried the men's size, but even this shoe was too small and uncomfortable. Moreover, I am not particularly enamored with the design of this newest version and am hoping Altra plans to rethink their shoe sizing and styles back to when they started. I'm sure this shoe works for many, just not for my feet. So, I'm waiting and still looking :(
