I purchased 10 different Chelsea-style boots, looking for one that was comfortable and versatile. The brands I tried included Sorel, Thursday Boot Co, Frye, Blundstone, and La Canadienne. I need a boot that can easily transition from the workplace with smart jeans and a blazer on casual Friday, to everyday wear during the fall/winter seasons. Somewhat reluctantly I kept these Connor boots after trying all the others due to the price. This boot is well constructed with quality materials. The sole is very stable and not slippery. They are easy to put on and take off. They require zero break in period and are very comfortable for extended walking. In fact I’ve decided they will be the only shoes I take on a NYC vacation in November. I’m very happy with these boots and the only reason I gave an overall 4 star rating is the price point. I understand these are not made overseas, but I feel they are overpriced for what they are. I think $300 to $350 is much more appropriate. If you’re on the fence, I’d say get them if you have disposable income or if you find them on sale. Otherwise there are many other good alternatives out there.

I've had these boots about six weeks and have worn them every single day. I live in a city in the cold and snowy upper midwest and walk about two miles each day to and from work in these boots. I also go on longer walks and my feet are totally comfortable. I'm really picky about shoes and tried on about six pairs of la canadiennes before finding these! I have them in smooth leather. The salt doesn't bother them; I wipe them off with a damp cloth when I get home, and sometimes have to pick salt chunks out from the soles, but they hold up well. I wouldn't say they're totally slip proof, but it's hard to walk on ice in any footwear. They are waterproof. They look nice with dresses, skirts, and jeans, and have a much nicer and more sophisticated silhouette than the blundstones I adored and wore continuously for four years before retiring them. I ordered a half size up because I was used to the looser fit of the blundstones, and wanted to wear warm socks. The boots aren't really that warm, but with some warm socks they suit my needs (city walking, office environment) perfectly and I will likely wear them through the spring and fall. I was apprehensive about spending so much on a pair of boots (I got them for $325) but I think it was worth it.
I'd also recommend:

These are really pretty boots, but for almost $500, they don't look as luxurious as I was hoping they did. The leather on top is a bit "loose" and scrunches down when you walk creating a bit of a lumpy ankle look. The leather is nice when you touch it, but at first glance they look kind of cheap and kind of gave me Urban Outfitter vibes because they just didn't look as luxe as some other premium leather boots do. For me, I couldn't justify paying this much for these, so I returned them.

oh yes! These are the boots that look great w. boyfriend jeans cuffed, skinny jeans, leggings, dresses and skirts. So comfortable, looking to wear them for city walking vacations and they are perfect. Pricey, but they are "forever" boots!

These boots are fabulous. I have tried many Chelsea boots on and these are so comfortable and true to my 8.5 foot. So many of the other ones that I tried were too heavy. I like that you can replace the sole on these as I know I will wear them out.

20 years ago I bought a pair of Joan & david boots they look and feel exactly like these. They seemed extremely expensive at the time, over $250. However, they held up for 20 years! They have been my go to boot for Europe, home to Alaska, and any trip where you need a boot to walk in comfortably for miles, even on cobblestone. This year they finally looked "tired" and so I've replaced them with the La Canadienne. Expensive, for sure, but if they are anything like my last pair of boots, they'll be well worth it!

I had been researching black booties for a while, comparing looks and functionality, comparing Docs and Blundstones and the like, and finally decided to go for a pair of La Canadiennes. I have a pair of their high boots and they really are waterproof and have lasted a long time. These shorties are sort of hip with the lug sole, chunky heel and back loop, but refined enough to wear in any setting with pants or skirts and dresses. They fit really well- Zappos said 9 was my recommended size and they were correct! I sometimes need to order wide, or choose shoes that run wide in the toe box, but these are roomy enough. The first day I noticed that the top front of the shaft rubbed my shin but it is not chafing, and it is loosening up after 2 wearings. I can't wait to try them out in a good rain or snow!

I typically wear a size 9 in this brand - and the Chelsea size 9 felt true to other La Canadienne 9s that I have. I had purchased these Chelseas to replace my current tall La Canadienne boots which have a hard heel and sole. While these new Chelseas are perfect in style, light weight -- the shoe is not cushioned enough for my needs. I sadly returned these shoes. I'd be able to wear to and from work...but the lack of cushion would not permit for long days walking in the city. The shoes DO accommodate my orthotics and if the ball of the foot had been more cushioned, I would have happily had found the perfect boot.

I liked the funk look of these boots, but I broke two fingernails trying to get them on. I realize this is the style - pull on boots - but they need a pull cord in the back (or at least a larger one) to help get them on and off. I liked the fit - true to my size in La Canadienne - but the thought of struggling with them every time I wanted to wear them made the decision to return them an easy one.

Best boots I’ve ever worn- period. Expensive, but I have owned other expensive pairs of boots (some pricier than these) and these boots are the best I have ever worn. No break in period needed- just put them on and you’re good to go. Super cute, comfortable and durable. Love love love them.

These run a half size too small. I’m normally a 9 and had to exchange for 8.5. I have one wider foot and they fit pretty well, not too snug but not loose either. First time buying this brand and I do like them a lot.

I'm normally an 8.5 or 9. I needed a 9.5 mostly because the heel in the 9 was tight. They're beautiful and pretty comfy out of the box but.... They're warm. Just an FYI. It's 50 degrees here and they may be too warm until it gets colder outside.

These are terrific boots, exactly the style I was wanting. They fit true to size and I have a bunion and hammer toe on one foot which is why I only gave them a 4 star comfort rating. No shoes earn a 5 star unless they are Birkenstock’s. Beautiful craftsmanship. Love them. They are very pricey but you get what you pay for.

I would buy another pair in a heartbeat if they had brown!! My foot is really hard to fit, and 80% of all shoes don’t fit. I’m really a narrow , but these boots with a pair of inserts fit great! I put them on and wore all day!

These were comfortable enough to wear all day straight out of the box, and exactly the look I wanted for dresses and skirts. Very happy with this purchase.

I've owned several pairs of La Canadienne's, and these were in line with the quality of those. I was surprised at how lightweight these were. They don't make wide widths anymore, but I decided to try them anyway. They were snug for me out of the box (one foot has a bunion), but I've been wearing them in the house to stretch them out and they fit well now. They were a little hard to get on at first but with repeated wearing it's easier to get them on. Overall pleased with the look and quality of these. Just wish they made wide widths.

It seemed sized correctly, but there was a place at my big toe joint that it hurt and so they have to go back. Also, they had no arch support. They looked beautiful. I wish they didn't hurt.

I wear an 11W and La Canadienne no longer makes shoes in wide width. A La Canadienne representative suggested that this shoe might fit me because it runs large. I decided to give it a try. Although I easily slipped into the shoes, my two outer toes were tight up against the leather. Perhaps if the shoe came in a size 12, the added length might have made for a good fit. Sadly, I will have to give up on La Canadienne and find another high-quality brand that makes wide width shoes.

I bought these boots for a winter trip to NYC. They were great right out of the box. Easy to style with lots of different outfits and kept my feet warm and dry walking around the city all week. Quality boots that I’ll have for years. Highly recommend.

Comfortable and stylish. This is my third pair of La Canadienne shoes. They are expensive but worth the money because they are comfortable, stylish, and durable. I live in a city, don't have a car, and I walk/bike a lot. They hold up.
