This coat works perfect for me here in Wyoming. Living in a high elevation with constant wind and freezing temperatures is bearable while wearing this coat. I actually start sweating in it if it climbs to the high teens in temperature.

I got this coat to replace my LL Bean Baxter State parka which was just to heavy, bulky and was just to extremely warm. This coat is significantly much lighter and when worn, I do feel a better range of motion when moving. While it has 550 down fill, it does feel less warm compared to the the Baxter State but I can layer up more which unfortunately very hard to do in the Baxter State because of it's really puffy and thick sleeves. The only thing that I really don't like about the Mc Murdo is the hood, not really a big fan of the faux fur trim but when you do remove it, it makes the hood smaller and shorter in relation to the size and style of the coat. When the trim is off, the hood doesn't offer much protection from the wind and wind forced rain to cover your face. I didn't mind the button vs zipper to attachment the trim, so far they seem to work well. The attached face cover in the hood is a welcome feature because I really don't like using scarves but this coat could have been a perfect 10 for me if not for the small hood.

I bought this product for my Ukrainian's cold windy winters, and when it was delivered honestly I was impressed by quality. You don't need to be scared of ANY colds. I recommend it to everyone

First thing I noticed was that this jacket is super, SUPER warm. I was able to walk around in sub-freezing weather with nothing except for a t-shirt underneath the jacket and I was completely warm. I will say that the coat is a tad heavy and the zippers take some getting used to, but overall it is a fantastic product and I have no doubts that it will be keeping me warm all throughout the New England winter.

Im 59 150lbs with small shoulders. The North Face website reccomended a small or medium. I ordered the medium because this is my normal size and Id rather have too big of a winter jacket than too small. The medium was way too big for me. I called for an exchange. The jacket itself looks and feels great. Probably should go with smaller size if you have hard time choosing between two sizes. I still have room for winter layering.

After spending many hours and days to find a perfect winter parka, I found this one. I got it as a present and I could not be more satisfied. Perfect for heavy rain, snow, New York merciless snowstorm and no matter what condition I face this parka keeps me warm and dry. You won't regret. The price is fair considering all the benefits. It is also very elegant not bulky nor too heavy. Many pockets elegantly hidden. A huge plus for the balaclava attached to the hood, also for the headphone cord holder, great idea. For cold cities such as Chicago and New York this parka is perfect.. my first north face item and I am beyond satisfied.

I bought red one M size. The color, size (feels true lenght in every part) very lovely. It's waterproof, windproof, comfortable and it keeps really warm. Also, it's good for heavy winter circumstances. Absolutely, i'm suggesting this item.

It is a little heavy for athletic use but it is indeed the warmest jacket I've worn before. I would be able to whether through any snowstorm or cold weather that will hit Boston this winter.

This jacket is very very warm. You will not go wrong wearing this in sub 30 degree weather. The down is of high quality and the jacket is overall very breathable and not too stuffy like some of the other jackets I've worn. Also, the fur around the hood does a great job blocking out the wind and other weather elements. You also get the fashion statement without the backlash from animal lovers since it is faux fur. There is a good amount of pockets and storage that you can put your things in and it fits really well. Great jacket for most winter conditions. Highly recommended.

I really like the look of this product and the fit is as expected. Its a parka so it covers my backside and the top of my thighs well which is what I wanted. It is warm and heavy, not necessarily a bad heavy though. As others have commented the zipper is a little too small ; its a normal sized zipper you would find on a pair of pants, not a big one for a coat that you would use with gloves on.
Overall I am very happy with is and I would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

I live in Mendoza, Argentina. The winter season here is really hard if you are climbing mountains or even spending a few hours outside and with this jaquet I don't care about it. I don't like the velcro in the cuff, but it's something personal.

I use this as my main winter jacket. In Minnesota the winters can get bitter, and this jacket keeps me warm. I love the length. As a 6'3 male, it is hard to find a jacket that goes to the hips.

Was looking for a long jacket that would keep me warm during the cold weather while standing still at long periods of time. I have purchased north face jackets before with the purpose of constant movement, and have been satisfied with all purchases. My current job requires me to stand stationary for long periods of time and I was needing a good heavy coat for the wind and cold weather. I was researching for a long while and finally purchased this coat, I am beyond satisfied with the quality and utility of the coat. Best purchase that I know will last me for many years to come. Enjoy the front 4 pockets which can hold quite a few items. The amount of DOWN that is in the coat is plenty to keep warm. At 30 - 40 degrees, I was hot in the coat with just a shirt and tie.

Bought one for my husband and obe for my son. Actually, this is the second one for my son, as he is growing out of the first obe I bought about 2 years ago. It keeps them warm on very cold days. Their only complaint is that they wish it was a little longer and that it would be nice if they could tie the hood to make it fit more snugly on really cold days.
