I love this hat. I wear a 7 3/4 hat size normally so XLs don't always mean it will fit. This one does and even with a little room to spare so that it's not squeezing my melon. I had the hat in the middle of blizzard last weekend during search and rescue training ops and it did great. My head, ears, and face were all perfectly fine. The bill is great because it helps serve as a headlamp ledge in addition to offering shade for the eyes during daylight ops. Lastly, if you go somewhere and you don't have a mask, the face-covering wrap that comes out of the ear panel has worked every time for walking into an establishment that has a mask requirement. Well done and thank you OR for another great product!

Love this hat, have worn it almost every day here in Idaho's winter.

It's exactly what I expected based on the description and previous reviews. I ordered a size up so it would fit over my ponytail when I don't want to redo my hairstyle just to wear a warm hat. That means when my hair is down, the hat is loose, as expected. I wear a thin hat under it for extra cold days. If I had ordered the proper size I bet it would fit more snugly to my face and be fine without the extra hat, but I can't say for sure. It's as cute as I expected, which is to say, it's not cute. It's very practical and great for sunny days in lieu of the ball cap I'd wear in warm weather.

Nice and warm. Good fit for a guy with a big melon. The only thing is the ear flaps could be longer. I can't get them to snap under my chin.

Sharp stylish and complete cranium warmth. I bought all three colors and love this hat. My only con is I wish the mask could be adjusted better with a more thought out design. Either way the mask is useful when needed.

Exactly what I was looking for, a baseball style cap that would keep my head warm on cold days and my ears warm when it got colder. I recently had a chance to give it a good test while snowshoeing on a cold, blustery day and it passed with flying colors. I started with it in full storm mode with the earflaps down and buttoned up tight. As I heated up I first unbuttoned the flaps, then put the flaps partially up and finally had them buttoned on top of the hat. It was nice to be able to stay comfortable without having to change hats. Great hat, I highly recommend it.

I wear hearing aids and this allows me to go out in the snow or rain without the need to remove them. The built-in mask is also wonderful. Thanks again Ourdoor Research!

I purchased an extra large hat size, hoping it would give my head a little extra room without the hat moving around my head when wearing it. Because of the "furry inside" the hat stayed put on my head.

really like this product. I usually wear it without the sides, but when the wind blows, it offers nice protection to my ears. I love that it is practically a baseball cap, only with more isolation from cold. It has performed as expected so far. The only thing I'd make different is I'd make the cap part of the hat 1 piece and slightly longer. I highly recommend it.

I bought this hat for cool weather sleeping, because I don't like to sleep with my head in the mummy bag, and it's worked out really well. I went camping with it when the lows were in the low 20s, and this hat did a great job keeping my ears and face toasty. It was also great to wear around camp as the temperatures dropped to keep me from getting too cool. I was between sizes, so I sized up so I could layer a merino balaclava underneath it. My only complaint is that the face covering is a little bit loose for my taste (although some people like it like that). It would be great if there were multiple pieces of velcro so you could adjust the tightness of the face covering. The face covering obviously got wet from my breath through the night, but I didn't find it uncomfortable, although it wasn't as comfortable as a wool balaclava. I would highly recommend layering over a merino balaclava if you are sensitive to the feeling of wet synthetic material against your skin or if you want to be extra warm. It also took me a few times to get used to operating the well-hidden zippers and putting on the mask, so maybe get familiar with the hat before you wear it out in the cold so that you don't have to take it off to get the mask out.

Very warm and very versatile. I use it for hiking, blowing snow with a snowblower, snowshoeing, and winter shooting with ear protection. Bill keeps sun out of your eyes and deflects blowing snow.

Just back from a week winter camping. Average temp. -26 C. Amazing fit and kept me warm through the worst wind chill.

I like this hat! It's got a style I like and isn't too warm when the weather gets nicer. My only qualm is the face shield that is tucked into the ear flaps. I think this is unnecessary and can't see myself ever using it. It adds bulk, but I guess I could cut it out when I finally decide that it is obsolete.

Spend a lot of time outdoors and this is one hat that can make a person happy to have with them.

Love the combination of style with real world versatility!

New favorite winter hat. Obviously it's versatile - covers ALL of your ears when the flaps are down and keeps your chin warm. Face mask works well. Outer material is waterproof, and as an added bonus the brim is split which means you can fold the thing up and throw it in your pocket. If you're looking at this hat...buy it, you won't be disappointed.
