First, I just got this jacket. I haven't worn it outdoors for more than a test run and can't comment on how effective it will be at specific temperatures. I'm writing this now since no one has posted a review on Zappos. I think this product deserves 5 stars in all categories. I've had a Mighty Lite hooded jacket for several years and give it 5 stars also. For those of you who have that jacket, I want to share my experience with the 2 styles. I wasn't sure from the item descriptions that much is different except for the plush lining in the hood of this style. There's enough variation for me to keep this one. It's a bit heavier and feels warmer based on my 5-minute outdoor comparison, but it's not significantly bulkier. The plush hood is very comfy, and I'm hoping the added weight will keep it from blowing off in a breeze like the Mighty Lite hood does (neither hood has drawstrings, unfortunately). The big difference for me is fit. I need a long jacket to keep me warm from neck to thigh while commuting. While the L in Mighty Lite fit better in standing position, it pulled across my hips when I was seated. I chose XL and it has been great, although when I'm walking it feels too large in the waist even with a light sweater. I ordered X and XL in this jacket to compare fit (thanks, Zappos). I am delighted that the L fits me well for all purposes. Plenty of hip room, while the more hourglass silhouette fits much better at the waist without being too snug. No problem for me with pulling across the shoulders or chest in the L. For reference, I typically wear size 10 Columbia pants and M shirts. If you have broad shoulders, prefer a loose fit, or plan to wear bulky sweaters, you might want to start with the XL. As for sleeve length, both X and XL in this jacket and Mighty Lite fall well below my wrists when my arms are by my sides. That turns out to give perfect coverage when I reach for the steering wheel or lift my arms. Both styles have inset thumbhole cuffs that felt binding at first but are a blessing for gripping cold steering wheels and dog leashes. If you add gloves, you can wear them over thumbholes to keep out wind or just treat the cuffs like regular cuffs. This jacket also has an "extended" hemline. The scallop shape means more fabric to keep your backside warm when you sit down, which I appreciate. The Mighty Lite has a straight hemline. Finally, my computer shows the Deep Rust color as brighter and more vibrant than the actual jacket color of both jackets I received. The jackets are what I would call a true "deep rust" that isn't boring and probably won't show dirt easily. I am a Columbia devotee, so I can't compare their jackets to other brands. I do think the retail price point for all Columbia jackets I have is quite reasonable for what you'll get. I hope this review helps you decide and that you'll be pleased if you make this choice.

I got this in Nocturnal (dark blue color), which is a beautiful color that goes with many things. I was contemplating to keep this jacket or not because I wasn't sure if it would be warm enough for our MN super cold winter. I've been looking for down alternative jacket and love that this one is lightweight, has thumbholes, two-way zippers, hood (lined with soft comfy materials), the length goes down to mid-thigh and it makes me looks slim and not puffy. I tested it out in different temperature in the 30s, 20s and finally this week we are below 0 with a windchill of -16 here in MN. This jacket is surprisingly warm considering I only wear a regular crew neck long sleeve inside without another layering. I zipped up all the way to cover my neck and went out to walk around on our driveway. The wind was blowing, but I felt decently warm. I decided to keep it! It's a great price with a great style. For reference, I'm 5'3" 113# and XS fits perfect with room for a fleece sweater if I need to. The arms a slightly longer, but in a way it's a good thing.

This is the first time I am so disappointed with a Columbia Brand Jacket . I always wash my clothing before wearing . But after the first wash , I noticed there are some grayish stains on the coat . I don't know if Zappos will accept my return . And besides , it's not thick enough for a 67 yo woman , I don't think I can wear it on windy and snowy days . Cheap quality product !

I ordered two sizes L and XL based on previous reviews. The large fit, but when I put on some winter clothes It was a little too sung, so I opted for the XL even though it bruised my ego a little. I love the nocturnal color it will go with anything. Of course I received the coats on the hottest day of the year, so it was plenty warm, so I cannot attest how it will do this winter. Love that it has a hood and dual zippers. Love the omni lining in the body as well as the arms. Seems to be a very well made coat and very slimming compared to down coats.

I wanted a light but warm insulated jacket for camping. I generally camp from February to November in the PNW and was hoping this would be warm enough. The fact that it is moisture resistant in our rainy climate was another bonus. This jacket is beautifully light and comfortable. I love the fleece in the hood. I enjoy wearing it and have been wearing it out to the store and to walk the dog. I find it stylish and feminine, and I don't walk around feeling like the Michelin Man. As a person who has trouble buying any other color but black and grey, this Plum color is a beautiful dark purple and doesn't reach too much out of my comfort zone. I am 5'3" and about 115 lbs. I bought an XS and it seems about right. I could still wear a sweater under it no problem, and the length is good on me. Long but not too long. The only issue I find is that the sleeves are way to long on it. Way to long. I know I am on the shorter side and have shorter arms. But I am considering hemming them an inch and a half at least to make this jacket more wearable. That seems excessive for an extra small for the average person. Also, I do find it warm enough to walk the dog a short distant in say 45 degree weather, but I do think that for any long periods of time outside in it I am probably going to have to layer fleece or something else underneath it. It definitely won't do on it's own in the winter on cooler days for anything more than car errands and shorter dog walks. Overall I am thrilled with this jacket and will probably consider buy it in black as well so I can wear it with everything.

I wasn’t sure about size, so I ordered my usual large, and an xl to compare. I kept the large because the xl was just way too big. I had more room to layer with the xl, but I figured if I needed that much layering, I should be wearing my “for real” parka. This cost suits me well for everyday use. I can wear it with a pretty chunky top and still feel comfortable. It’s light, easily stuffable for when I travel, and long enough to add extra warmth that my short down jacket can’t, especially when I’m wearing a dress or skirt for work. It’s pricey, but worth it to me since I live in MI, and winter is a thing here.

I love this coat! It doesn't feel heavy, but it's very warm and comfortable, and it doesn't make me look like a marshmallow. I'm 5'4", 120 pounds, and I ordered both the small and extra small. The small fit, but was bigger around the middle than I prefer, which can be too drafty for me. The extra small fits perfectly with room for a sweatshirt. I have very long arms for my height, and I often have trouble finding sleeves that are long enough. These sleeves fit perfectly - even in the extra small! The color is more of a grayish blue, and it's pretty true to color in the pictures of me wearing the coat. The picture I took of the hood appears lighter than actual. With the hood up and the zipper fully zipped, I don't think the wind will be able to blow it down, and the inside of the hood is a soft, furry lining. I don't have any problems with the zipper as long as I ensure that both the top and bottom zipper pulls are tight together and all the way at the bottom, and the zipper part being inserted is all the way in before pulling the zipper up. I live in PA, but it hasn't gotten very cold here yet. I wore the coat over a thin shirt in temps in the mid-30's and I was plenty warm. The only change I would make is slightly deeper pockets. It's a tight fit for my gloved hand and my phone in the same pocket. Otherwise, I'm very happy with my purchase!

I have this coat in Navy and searched all over for a puffer style coat in black for this winter but ended up coming back to this one for the fit. We have mild winters where I live so I didn't need a super heavy down coat. However, after wearing this for a little while I can notice some obvious differences between the one I bought at the Columbia employee store here in Oregon and the one I ordered on Zappos. I also looked at the tags and noticed the words "omni-heat" are missing on the Zappos version. The material in the hand cuff and liner in the hood also seem slightly off (cheaper quality) and all this leads me to think it is a counterfeit from China. Very frustrating for all the hassle of ordering online and having to do online returns. I've always been super happy with Zappos and their customer service and will probably still use them in the future. Just disappointed in the cheap quality from a brand that should have a consistent brand appeal. Hope the sourcing on this gets fixed.

I bought this for when I’m outside for extended periods at events where I am supporting. It’s perfect. I sized up so I can wear extra layers underneath comfortably. Plus it’s beautiful enough to wear out for a evening out on the town. Omni heat keeps the coat light and packable but still quite warm. It kept me warm through 2 long weekends of supporting friends at 100 mile running races volunteering and spectating. I even used it as a blanket one night!

It's a very comfy coat. Super light. Good transition coat (Fall, late Winter/early Spring). I really like the hand covers. Beautiful colors. Very happy with it.

I absolutely love this coat! It keeps you warm in the very cold weather and not too hot in the chilly weather. I am 5'7" and weight about 130 pounds with a small frame (B cup size chest) and the small fit perfectly. I also have the same coat that comes to my waist in the small and loved it so much and is why I got the longer one. My friend is 5'6 and weighs about 145 pounds who is larger in the bust (D size cup) and the size medium fit her perfectly. I highly recommend this coat!

I ordered this coat in a medium and a large - not knowing what would be my best fit. I am busty but have small hips. The medium was a beautiful fit with the exception of the bust. I opted for the large which is plenty big - but does not look huge on me. It is an extra 1-2" longer which was not a game changer (I was looking for it to be a little shorter). Love the red-blue (not too red and no orange) color, the weight of the coat and hopefully the warmness. So far, it has been perfect for the damp 35-50 degree days when a raincoat is not enough and your heaviest coat is too much.

I first got this coat in black in my usual size small. It fit, but with little room for layering. So I returned it for a medium that fits easily over layers of sweaters. This coat is designed to fit close to the body. It's lining reflects body heat to create warmth without weight, bulk or binding anywhere. I can move freely in any direction without restriction, while feeling warm and cozy - it's like wearing a warm hug. Although this coat is meant for activity, It's the most comfortable winter coat I've ever worn.

I purchased this for my daughter for Christmas 2018. She goes to college in Northeastern Pennsylvania where it is very cold and usually raining or snowing all winter. I purchase a medium so that she would have room for sweaters under the jacket. She loves this coat. It's very warm and the Truffle color goes with everything. The interior of coat has a shinny, metallic material. We call it the microwave jacket! I ended up purchasing a second coat for my other daughter who lives in Brooklyn and has a long walk to and from the subway. She also loves it!

LOVE this coat and I'm so sad that the hood is not removable. I would have definitely kept it but I would like to be able to remove a hood since I use hoods infrequently. But the hood is lined with some super soft dark grey material that most people would probably love. It seems very warm - I stood completely still outside on a very windy, 29 degree night for about 5 mn and felt perfectly comfortable (wearing just a lightweight terrycloth top underneath). This would be great for running errands on even the coldest day because you could probably go in and out of the various temps without feeling hot. Plus it's really lightweight. And I love that the channels on this coat are stitched in a flattering angled design instead of straight across horizontal. Every girl knows that horizontal patterns are less flattering - why don't clothing designers know that?!! Most of the down coats have big wide horizontal channels that make my hips look a mile wide. Don't need that. For reference: I am 5'8, 125 lbs - I ordered the medium and it fit perfectly. The sleeves are long enough and has the attached wrist warmers with a thumb hole, which would be great for days when gloves are not needed but a little something to warm the hands is helpful. And you can just push them up if you don't want to use them and they go back up into the sleeve. Hoping next season Columbia will design this with a removable hood...and in bright red!!

I haven't found this jacket to be all that warm. I live in Colorado and I think it's good to maybe about 30°. After that you'd have to seriously layer up underneath to keep warm and that can be a hassle for everyday life. I don't find myself to run crazy cold usually but I'm not the hottest running person either. My other issue with this jacket is the zipper really does suck as many others have said. It can be really difficult to get it started and it's rather frustrating. It's one of the most important parts of a jacket! I've thought about returning it many times. Other than those complaints I really like it. I like the shape of it (it's more flattering to a woman's figure versus many others out there).

This is a beautiful jacket. Perfect length. I returned it because it was purchased as a gift and the color was incorrect. I wish you would change the length of your return policy. 60 days for something purchased in September for a December birthday isn't a long enough return window. Please consider changing that.

This is my favorite jacket! It's perfect for chilly weather, and I love that it's waterproof, not just "water resistant". It's not going to be a coat for a northern winter but it's great here in North Carolina. I wore it for a 2-hour hike in 40 degree weather while it was pouring rain, and I stayed dry and warm under the coat. I also love how flattering the fit is!

This jacket IS heavenly! After living in California for 20+ years, I didn't have a coat that was adequate for east coast winter. I researched, tried on a ton of different styles and this one is the perfect one for me! Can't do down, allergic to feathers. Didn't want bulky, I hate heavy coats. The self heating liner is perfection. The hood is just right. The little extra "sleeve" with the thumb holes is even enough when you don't really want to put on gloves. My only improvement would be to have more than 2 hand pockets and a little zippered chest pocket. But I LOVE this jacket enough that I bought a second one! One for work, where it will undoubtedly get dirty, and one to use for personal outings that might tend to be a bit dressier.

I am a petite, 5-ft/1-in, 104 lbs. The small was much too big, but the XS fits perfectly even with a sweater underneath. The coat is very warm, though not as warm as down. I like the inner lining with thumbholes in the sleeves. It's very comfortable and easy to slip on unlike coats that have fleece or other friction-producing linings. Very happy with the coat.
