This boot is heavier, stiffer, and more supportive than lighter weight hiking boots that are especially popular now, but that is exactly what I was looking for. I've been wearing them for hikes of 2-3 miles nearly every day for a couple of weeks to break them in, and I'm impressed. They appear to be very well made and are getting more comfortable with each wearing. They are true to size. However, I don't think that applies to all Lowa boots; a pair of Lowa Renegades I tried on ran small, with a pair a half size larger than my normal size still too small. Comfort, stability, and support are excellent in the Lowa Ranger III GTX. I'm looking forward to many years of service from these boots. Very pleased with this purchase.

I have had good experiences with Vasque boots in the past, but these Lowas seem to be made better.
