I have a slightly wide foot (across my toes) and a slightly narrow heel. This shoe laces well, so that I can get a snug fit on my heel, and the mesh in the foot box is giving enough to make this a perfect fit for my foot. I do usually take a medium width, but sometimes a M width is too narrow - this was perfect. What's excellent about this shoe is that is light and cool, while keeping my pronation-prone foot. Arch support is very good. I sometimes use orthotics (and could, with this shoe's removable insole) but don't need to. I also need a neutral-appearing shoe that looks okay for work. I spend a lot of hours on my feet (teacher) and then want to do brisk walks/jobs - this shoe is perfect. All aspects of this shoe support stability. I have three pair of the Bushido shoes - love them, but they are a bit more stiff in the ankle, and a bit heavier. I also have some problems with balance, especially if jogging/running and need a shoe to keep my ankles stable, these are great. First day, they felt a bit tight, I worked with the lacing, it took a couple of days until I had it right and now they are really well-fitting. I feel confident running in them and have had no need to add in my knee brace. I didn't think a shoe could compete with the La Sportiva Bushido, but for warmer weather and more flexibility in the sole and toe box, this is by far my favorite. And it's pretty.

I’d been having a hard time finding comfortable waterproof trail runners for hiking and training my dogs in wet agility fields, need something with a reasonable grip. Usually too hard or too clunky to move easily in. These fit the bill. I wear 9-9.5 and got the 9.5/41. I had heard these run narrow but I found the toe box roomy. The heel is almost a little wide, but if I tie them properly no slippage. I gave worn them in some pretty wet weather and so far my feet have stayed dry. I haven’t had them for long so who knows how long the waterproofing will last. They were the most expensive shoes I tried, of course. They are not too bad looking either for a running/hiking shoe.

These hikers felt really good right out of the box. My feet border on being wide and I had plenty of room in the toe box. I was going to keep these shoes as they are stylish and comfortable when the right shoe developed a weird popping sound with each step I took. I could not see any defect but the sound indicated that there was something wrong somewhere. I liked these enough to want to order another pair to see if I have more luck the second time around.

This shoe by far exceeded my expectations! I needed a shoe that not only could handle a lot of heavy use but also that had an aggressive tread & was waterproof. I bought this type of shoe quite a bit in my past & the shoe ended up being not breathable. My feet would sweat so much that the waterproof aspect didn't matter at that point. Soon after buying them they'd also no longer were waterproof. I've had this shoe now for a few months wearing them daily. They're in snow, Ice, mud, & rain a lot especially since it's winter now. My feet stay dry, warm, & very comfortable. I'm completely sold on this shoe. I am a mail carrier and walk 10-13 miles daily. I walk through it all. Never fell on ice either.

This was a great, supportive, non-slip shoe for light hiking. Pretty comfortable right out of the box and the laces stay tightly laced within grooves on the tongue. I was able to get them tight around my ankle and heel while still pretty roomy in the toe box. The rubber cleat-like treads are like mini-suction cups on wet rocks and slippery surfaces. I was amazed that I didn't slip once walking on steep inclines and on wet leaves and mud on the trails. Didn't get them that wet (they have a nice sole height too), so I didn't really put the Gore-tex to the test, but my feet stayed warm and dry. While still fitting much more like a sneaker than a hiking boot, they are still stiffer/less flexible than the shoes I'm used to (and in these Covid-times I am working from home and hardly wearing shoes at all). After a few hours of walking, or even wearing them in the car, my feet were a bit sore in the soft tissue around my arch and in what I would call the "bunion area" of my big toe (not that I have bunions). No blisters, but I did wear some running socks with built-in cushioning. I tried about 20 pairs of hiking sneakers from Zappos of all makes and models and heights, and these were the best! A great find!

Love the way these look and feel but I needed to order a half size up from my regular shoes. Fit more like my running shoes which are always a half size up.

The shoes are very pretty color, but look a dowdy. They feel like they'd be very supportive comfortable shoes, if I could only find the right size. I feel La Sportiva tends to run small and a bit narrow. I'm a US 8 with a moderate width but high volume foot and the 39 & 40 are too small. I may try again with the 40.5.

Should it be this difficult? Ordered 7.5 (from Amazon) - too small. Ordered 8.5 (Zappos) - too big. Ordered 8 (again, Zappos) - fits great but there's a stain on the toe? I realize I'm going to wear them in the rain, mud, etc. but for $160, thinking these things should be vetted before they ship and they should at least be 100% upon arrival. Do really like them and have had great luck with La Sportiva in the past, thus willing to slog through the process. Ordering another 8... 4th time is a charm?

I am on my 4th pair now... ordered 7.5: too small, 8.5: too big, 8: stain on toe, 2nd pair of 8: waaaay too small -- they say "8" on the box and the label but there's no way these are a size 8, I'm not even sure they're a 7, mismarked for sure. Quality control much? Such a shame as I typically love La Sportiva... not sure what's going on with these!

I'm very particular when it comes to shoes. I have returned a lot of shoes in my lifetime. My good friend lives in Alaska and I asked her for a vegan waterproof hiking shoe recommendation. She raved about the Akyra so I ordered these along with another pair (different brand) for comparison. I'd never owned a GTX shoe before. Even though I liked both pairs and preferred the color of the others, I thought these were more comfortable and reluctantly returned the other pair. I made the right choice. The Akyra have not disappointed! I've hiked many times in them and they give me great traction and protection from the terrain. I live in Oregon and have stood in some moderately deep puddles at waterfalls to test them and my feet stayed bone dry. My feet somehow don't get hot in them either! Recently I've been dealing with flexor tendinitis in my right foot (to the point limping at times) and switched to a support sneaker at the suggestion of my chiropractor (vs my usual neutral). I went on a 7+ mile hike yesterday with friends and was a little nervous about how my foot would hold up. The Akyra GTX provided great support and my foot issue didn't flare up at all during the hike. These are great hiking shoes. I can't recommend them highly enough.

I bought these shoes for hiking in rocky terrain over the summer but never used them for hiking because they were quite stiff and heavy to break in. Hiking in regular running shoes in the summer was much easier. However, now that we are finally getting some winter rain I absolutely love these shoes. They are stable, warm and very comfortable in wet grass, mud, water puddles etc. They are really good looking shoes and were nice to wear for errands over the summer but now I use them as intended on the trails. We have an energetic puppy and are out every day regardless of the conditions and these shoes keep me comfortable.

I couldn't be happier with these shoes. I was looking primarily for a hiking shoe that could also be used for mild running. I was also looking for a very sturdy, waterproof shoe with excellent support that didn't require inserts. These deliver on all counts. I'd read in a lot of online reviews that they're on the heavier side, but they certainly don't feel it, and any additional minor weight is worth it for the outstanding support. Plus, they're extremely attractive! I just love these and get excited whenever I put them on :). For reference, I'm a solid size 8 and typically size up to a 9 in running/hiking shoes with an insert, but an 8.5 in these fits like a glove.

I have finally found the perfect arch support shoe. It took a wearing or two to get used to it but my pain is gone. I would buy these in every color. Sadly there is only one color (lightish blue- not my favorite)but all else is great!

These shoes are well built and I have no doubt that they would do well on a trail. They weren't 'out of the box' comfortable, seems as though they would need a little breaking in. Felt a little stiff, but likely due to the waterproof qualities of them? Great shoe, worth the price. The Bushido II just fits my needs (and my foot) better.

I bought this model 2 years ago for my first Obstacle Race (Spartan Race) since it was recommended to wear trail running shoes. They performed amazing, great grip on every slippery road or obstacle. They were completely covered in mud. I rinsed them to remove the bulk of the mud and threw them in the washing machine. Brand new! No one could tell what they been up to. I used them later for more obstacle races, different mountain and rainforest hikes. Additionally, I use them for when I hike to rivers and caves and go in the water with them for extra protection on my feet. They perform excellent. They are not too heavy and they surely are sturdy. Each time I get them dirty I throw them in the washing machine and they look brand new after. Idk if it's recommended to wash them that way but it works for me. This is one of my most intelligent purchases and I know the shoe will last me many more adventures. I usually wear a 7 or 7.5 size, in closed shoes and mine is a 7 US size.

I've used this shoe for several months after hip surgery which gave me good stability and also kept me from limping a bit as the new joint was 1/4" longer. It's the best shoe I've worn and will reorder another pair.

This shoe feels good out of the box. It has great arch support. I have narrow heels and wide across the bunion places. The heels fit great in these...I wish the toe box was a tad wider. I ordered an 8.5 which is what I usually wear in a hiking boot or running shoe....I am thinking of trying a 9. I like the feel of this shoe a lot....support like the ObozSawtooth but much lighter and more nimble. I have not tried it on the trail yet, since I may try the next size.

I wear a 9.5 and the 10s were a perfect fit. Ultimately, I decided to keep the Kaptivas, which felt lighter and maybe a tiny bit grippier. I really liked the stability of this shoe, but the bulky tongue bothered me just wearing them around the house and I couldn't get past it.
