The Akyra is simply the best shoe I have ever owned. I logged several hundreds of miles of hiking with my first pair and am now on my second pair. The shoes excel in fit, comfort and foot stability for long hikes over rocky and uneven terrain. For me, the rubber soles have the perfect balance of traction and durability. I frequently use them on class 3 & 4 (and occasional low 5th class) scrambles and am always amazed at how well they grip rock slab faces. The soles are padded enough to minimize how much you fell sharp edges through the bottom of the soles, which is key when you have long talus fields of boulder hopping in front of you (this is a key weakness of the TX2/TX3 and Boulder X shoes in my opinion). Although my Boulder X shoes perform better on easy 5th class climbing, they are much less breathable and far less comfortable on long approach hikes. I never use my Boulder X's anymore, instead opting to wear my Akyra's for all hikes and scrambles right up to the point where I switch directly into my rock climbing shoes for more technical climbing. The lighter weight TX2/TX3 shoes might be a better option for shorter approaches on relatively smooth trials, but the Akyra is superior for everything else. I love them!

I bought these shoes for the first time a couple of years ago. I am now about to buy my fourth pair! They are fantastically built, durable, and have great ankle support. I have an old fracture in my right ankle. I could feel my ankle get sore when I would run in Cascadias or Assics, but not with these. I average approximately 500 miles of technical trail running per pair, and wear them as everyday shoes too. So, realistically, these shoes are getting well over 1,000 miles each. Anyway, as long as they make these shoes, I will continue to buy nothing else!

I have tried multiple trail runners and hiking shoes over the years. This is the best combination I have found. It has excellent structure, support, fit and cushioning for a lightweight trail running shoe. I am both a trail runner and a backpacker and this shoe can handle both. I feel like this shoe is way underrated compared to other brands that are more popular in the U.S.

These are hands down the best shoes I have ever owned. I hiked/backpacked/camped/walked on all different terrains throughout Arizona, Utah, Georgia, Florida, Brazil, Chile, Argentina (Patagonia) with them. I also wear them as everyday shoes/running sometimes. They held up strong for about 2 years. After intense wearing - some of the tread wore down (which is expected). I am on the website right now buying another pair of the exact same shoe. Highly recommend these. They fit pretty true to size, dry quickly when they get wet, strong support, excellent tread/grip for changing terrains. I do also own a pair of hiking boots that I will use when hiking/camping with terrain that has more boulders - to allow for stronger ankle support. But overall, these shoes are a 10 out of 10. Looking forward to breaking in the new pair in Yosemite next week!

The shoes was a terrific fit with regular socks. Lighter than La Sportiva Akyra GTX. If you wear a sock liner and sock, a little tight fit. For trail runs during summer this is the perfect shoe.

I've become a confirmed La Sportiva fan because of their fit with my narrow heel/low volume feet which are not a good match with most shoes sold in the US. If you have wide or large volume feet, these are probably not the shoe for you. Started with Ultra Raptors, switched to Akyras because of the aggressive outsole tread which provides excellent traction. I also love the toe and underfoot protection. No complaints with excessive tread wear or durability in general.

Only needed two pairs of these to finish the entire PCT last summer. But honestly could have done it in just one. Durable, light and comfortable. Extremely satisfied.

I purchased a pair of these more than a year ago for running and hiking in Arizona. They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn, and I ended up wearing them every day. They were still going strong after a year of heavy use and I decided to get a new pair. Incredibly comfortable, waterproof--great multipurpose shoes. I love them.

I have used these shoes on countless hikes and have probably put over 300 miles on them over the 2 years that I've owned them. I do a lot of trail running and ridge scrambling. Only recently have the soles become worn enough that I can't trust the grip for scrambling hikes, but they are still good for trail running.

Best Trail running shoe I've ever used. LaSportiva nailed it with durability, foot protection and traction. Amazing shoes for off trail adventure running that hold up well and wear evenly.

These are great shoes in my opinion. I've had other shoes marketed as "trail runners" in the past, but these La Sportivas really do offer great support. Since I was so pleased with the first pair I purchased about a year ago, I bought another just recently before they changed the build/style (that's happened before with other brands). They apparently come in whatever color you might like, as long as it's black (other La Sportiva trail-runner models come in other colors). The name La Sportiva is well known for rough and tumble footwear. While I personally would wear something more substantial for off-trail outings, these are sturdy, supportive and very comfortable on-trail, gravel, etc. One caveat; when I first tried them on, I wondered about a sort of "clicking" sound in the material at the base of the toe box. With a simple adjustment of the tongue and laces, that sound went away. They are the most supportive "running" style shoes I've ever owned out of the box.

I've been wearing these shoes for a few months now, and I have to say they are the best fitting shoes I have worn for hiking/backpacking, I normally hike with about 35 lbs in a fully loaded pack. I wear a size 43 Eur or a size 10 US, and I am so glad I found these shoes. I have a slightly narrow foot and these are snug around the heal, but still allow for enough room around the toes. I do wish they had a second eyelet, but I expect to see that in a version 2 if/when it comes out. I particularly like the protection the rubber provides my toes because the rocks in Pennsylvania are brutal and I never feel them when I accidentally kick one. When walking 15+ miles a day I am yet to have any hot spots or sore feet from the pointy rocks. I will say they can hold some mud in the heels, but i will probably still buy them again because of how well they fit my feet. I still wish they weren't as expensive as they are which is why I gave them a 4 in value. Overall wonderful product so far.

Super comfortable with a thick sole and superior traction. I chose these as an all purpose hiking shoe and they do not disappoint. They sell them as a trail runner- altho they are really light and vent well they're way overbuilt for trail running, which is why I bought them. If you want a bad ass hiking shoe without switching over to a boot style, these are it.

I really love this shoe. They fit like a glove and are comfortable, never had any issue except the heel likes to squeak once in awhile.

Love my babies too death they fit my feet like a snug glove. Feels like a nice amount ot support for how heavy they are. Weirdly enough the inside of the heel is wearing through not entirely sure if it is the shoes fault though or just my orthodics propping my ankle too high.

I've been training for the Big Sur Trail Marathon and these shoes give me the best of all worlds with great fit in the upper and lots of cushion/protection in the midsole. On roads, I wear pronation control (posted) shoes, but on trails I don't need it! The Akyra is so supportive, I even wear it for some road miles occasionally.

Aggressive styling. A big clunky heal. Great grip. Felt true to size.overall a great show which I recommend. I'm not sure how much trail running can be done in this because the heel is so big. There isn't much lateral support either. I used to wear Salomons but new models have become too narrow for my feet. La Sportiva is a good alternative. Overall, I recommend.

Only 2 trail runs so far, but love the shoe. Very comfortable and stable with a solid sole. Last shoe was a Speedcross 3, with fit, but not stable and felt every rock and root under foot, looking forward to my next adventure race in them.

I love the tread and I love the foot plate, but it’s a little bit narrow and the material is not great on the inside. I think everyone’s foot slips a little bit and is generally fine but the HELOC and such has like no padding and the texture is very rough so it rubs on your feet quite poorly. Dang it

I bought these as a replacement for my trusty Mutants as the measurements were identical. I broke them in for ~50 miles and started my thru-hike of the Colorado Trail with them. Around day 5, the ankle cushioning started pressing into my right Achillies tendon causing discomfort and slowing my pace, ended up replacing them in Buena Vista. Despite my experience, these are great shoes as long as your Achillies isn't sensitive. They had ample cushion and were great on surfaces from rock to mud.

They are extremely narrow. Ended up giving them away to someone with smaller feet.

These shoes were narrow and stiff. Ran three days and my ankle swelled and I went back to my Hokas. Would return them had I not run in them 3 times. With so many options out there these are not worth the price
I'd also recommend:
