I bought my son his first pair of Keens on a sale when he was 3 years old. He is now just 2 weeks shy of 12. I’ve bought him a pair of Keens every year...sometimes twice in a year because his foot grew. He is addicted. He never wears sneakers except this year for middle school PE. We have never wanted to look elsewhere, until the last two pairs. Both have fallen apart long before he outgrew them. I paid $70 for this last pair. The sole pulled away from the upper pair of the shoe and ripped along the top seams, just as the last one did. This is unacceptable. My son now needs an adult size and at $100+ a pair, I’m hesitating. I own Keens myself. The quality has deteriorated significantly in my opinion.

My son is 8 years old and a size 1 medium. He tried on these ("my favorite, comfortable and lighter and easier to get on"), Jack-Wolfskin Portland Texapore Low K ("eh. They're ok, nothing special"), The North Face JR Hedgehog Hiker WP ("too heavy, hard to get on"), Keen Chandler CNX WP ("OW! I can't even put my foot in, it hurts!"). So he gave a thumbs up to these the Keen Kids Hikeport WP. Very happy with these. Hope they never stop making them and I just have to get him a bigger size each year!

I've been ordering Keen hikers for my son every year for 5 years. His old style (Oakridge) is no longer available, so this year we got a pair of these. The size 6's that arrived are actually smaller than his old Keen size 5's! Check out the photos! The new shoe (size 6) is olive with a red sole and is clearly smaller than the old shoe (size 5) which are blue/lime green. He tried them on and they are tight. Very odd!! One of my main reasons for buying Keens is the generous toe box and although these are both M width, the new ones are clearly more narrow.

We have bought these every fall for our 10 year old for about 6 years now. They are the perfect shoe for a Pacific Northwest winter! They keep his feet dry without making him too hot. High quality. Great value!

I bought these for my 10 year old to wear to an outdoor camp where it was going to rain a lot of the time. He found them to be comfortable and dry. Since he won't wear rainboots anymore these solve the problem.

This is a sturdy shoe. My 9 yr old boy is rough on shoes. We ordered 3 different pairs. This one won. The material feels strong. I was concerned that it would be too clunky but it isn't. Not heavy like I expected. Very sturdy. Seems like it will outlast all our other purchases. My son usually wears wide but medium width was fine with this pair. Also, they clean up easily.

Excellent shoe for my active 8 year old. Fits is wide foot with great arch support. Very durable and sturdy.

Nice, but... it’s falling apart already after a couple of months. My kid is not very rough on shoes, I expected more from the price I paid for the shoes. I already glued them 2x and hope it will hold up for a couple more months at least.

These shoes are great. I ordered for my six year old and he loves them. I had to exchange for one size bigger though than he usually would wear. I love that he can get them on even though they have laces because he doesn’t know how to tie shoes yet. Also they are much more durable than other shoes, I feel like we go through a lot of pairs but these seem tougher. Great shoes!

My 12 year old son loves these shoes. He likes them so much that when it came time to replace them he elected to buy them again ... same shoe, different color. His favorite feature is how the laces work, he can quickly tighten and secure them without any tying. The shoes really wear well and look good even after months of wear. My son really likes their stability and solidness. They are not particularly light-weight so be mindful of that if that's important to you.

Felt heavy and clunky

My son has a somewhat wider foot so we were pleased that the medium width wasn't too tight. He is usually very particular about how shoes and socks feel on his feet but he loved these as soon as he put them on. He wore them the first day, all day at his camp, and came home and still said they felt "awesome." These are the only pair of shoes we are taking to Scotland - where we will do some hiking - so I am so glad he will be comfy!

I love Keen shoes for the whole family. They hold up very well with my little guy. The last pair he wore for over a year and still looked great. He just outgrew them. I purchased the dress blue with read and they really are a beautiful shoe. The colors are vibrant and made a boy whose favorite color is blue very happy.

My son is loving these shoes! We bought three and had him try them on blindfolded. These were the winners. It's so difficult to find shoes with a great arch and wide toe box. They do initially have a rubber or petroleum smell. My only wish is that the bungee straps were more sturdy, or were velcro instead. I wonder if I could buy replacement bungie laces?

I just ordered the second pair of these for my 10 year old who is very tough on his shoes. This pair held up so well for him. He says the best part about them is that they're water proof. He just told me this past week they're not really soft on the sole while walking, but that is the first time I've heard that in the year he has been wearing them. We did a considerable amount of hiking this summer and these were great for that, as well as for everyday school shoes. He also wore them for gym at school. I'd highly recommend these.

Smaller than expected, but otherwise awesome. Will return and get an exchange for full size larger.

Good fit. A bit wider than typical boys 4. Waterproof shoes that look great. My little boy loves them!
