I occasionally test gear for Gore-tex and was recently gifted with a men's Beta T Shell. Although I am a woman, I prefer men's shells to women's. I am a wildlife field biologist and tracker in the high Rockies and I love the Anaconda color which is similar to Forest Green, which blends in with my surroundings well. The Gore-tex Pro fabric sheds rain and snow well, and the watertight zippers keep the moisture out of my pockets, although in heavy snow or rain I do not keep anything in them that cannot be exposed to moisture, since they are not waterproof. This shell is nice and light and can be rolled up quite small so it is easy to fit into any size backpack. I use this shell for many of my daily hiking and snowshoeing trips into the back and frontcountry of the Rockies. All in all another great piece of gear from this company.

I have the Diablo Red mens size medium and am 6-0, 185 and athletic build. The large gave me more room in midsection but arms way to long. I use jacket skiiing with base layer and light sweater underneath in 30-40 F with no wind. Jacket did not get wet from snow, sleet, light rain or when I was buried up to chest deep in Alta's powder. Hood fits over men's large ski helmet easily. Two front pockets are deep but could have used an internal pocket or two just for a phone, zipties, handwarmer package or paracord, etc..., as well as pocket for ski pass on arm. Difficult for me to layer my Atom AR and not feel like a stuffed animal in lower ab section. Pit zips very nice and regulate temps, especially when biking and pushing it on the slopes. Have not had jacket very long but no issues from precip. If you snowboard or fall when skiiing, I imagine the length of jacket would be too short as you would get snow up your back. My preference would be that it could be an inch or two longer so it would ride just below a ski belt instead of above. Overall, a great jacket and ideal for spring conditions or rain. So light you can pack it in a medium zip lock bag or its hood for travel. I also have a theta AR, which is quite a bit longer and gore tex pro, which I use when it is really nasty out. This is a good jacket if you layer lightly, run hot by nature or want something really lightweight feeling. Another good build by Arc'

This jacket is the best. I was a little concerned that it didn't have pit zips, but it breaths so well that they are not missed. I'm about 6' and 195lbs with long arms and a large fits perfect with a mid layer. I work in the film industry and arcteryx is the go-to jacket for long days in all types of weather.

I own 3 hardshell jackets by the leading outdoor brands, this is by far the best, i like the clean lines and the fit is superb, tested it out on two mountains so far, beads water like a ducks back, great wind protection, and so lightweight and compact in my rucksack its easy to forget its in there. This jacket has a athletic fit so i went for a size up so i could layer a micro-down-jacket underneath for time spent on the Sumitt's.

A great performance shell that fits like a women's jacket should! So far I am very impressed with this jacket. It feels a little stiff at first but it has relaxed a little after a couple of weeks of hiking use. The hood is very functional and the body & sleeves are nice and long. I am tall and relatively slim at 5'11", 155lbs and I can comfortably fit an average mid-weight layer under the large. The customer service agent I spoke with on the phone was excellent at answering both my technical questions as well as making an accurate description of the colour "Firefly" which looks like orange on the website but is actually a bright red! The only downfall this jacket has is the lack of pit-zips but in the short time I have had it there hasn't been any issues with breathability.

This is a very high-performance shell. Light, absolutely waterproof and breathable. The zips are well made, as well as the shape of the hood that one can adjusted to reach an optimum visibility with or without an helmet. It follows the Arc'teryx's philosophy: it gives you all you really need outdoor without any frill.

Great shell. The small feels like xs, so I returned it for a medium. The shell is very light weight and great for wet outdoor activities.

I required a robust, light-weight hard-shell for commuting and bike-packing. I received the Beta LT jacket a few weeks ago and it has instantly become my go-to riding jacket. It fits slim - I'm 6"2", 200 lbs and the Large size is adequate for a thin, down layer (I wear a Mountain Hardware Ghost Whisperer) or fleece. Anything more would require a size up. Although the jacket is snug, the design allows ample movement and I never feel confined, especially around the shoulders and arm pits. The hood is functional and highly adjustable. As with any technical garment, the test will be whether the design stands up to daily use. I will update this report after a few months. For now, highly recommended.

When trying this on I was blown away that it's Pro shell. It's light and feels like Paclite or Active shell. The fit is definitely on the slimmer side for me. I'm 5'10" 180 pounds and squeeze in to a medium with almost no room for a fleece mid layer. I've had this jacket in terrible rain for about 20 miles on South Manitou Island in Michigan for a week where the jacket was covered in bug spray and mud and performed just fine. Never soaked through but definitely got hot in there. After being balled up, packed, and smashed, a quick wash took care of everything and looks brand new. I wouldn't expect anything less. Highly recommend.

Love my Beta SL for around town urban escapades in the wet. As well its proven its worth in the more rugged terrain. When I decided to upgrade and get a more aggressive Goretex piece I opted for the Beta LT for its Pro Shell fabric. I must say, layering my Atom LT under it is just as nice as under my Sabre SV. I wear size Large in Arcteryx. Arcteryx products are so incredibly designed, working seemlessly together! The cut of the Beta LT is very nice, the hood is a bit larger than the Beta SL and it fits just ever so much larger for better layering. I'm looking forward to putting it through more paces, but so far so AWESOME. Worth every penny, fit and finish is just so much better than any other competitor out there!

I have used my Beta LT jacket now for 7 years. 3 of those years it was my ski jacket with heavy use skiing 4 days a week. Backcountry, ski instructing, etc... It is super light weight, excellent waterproof, great breathability and a comfortable fit. I take it everywhere with me, every season. Perfect summer jacket for high country mountaineering, solid winter jacket for those warmer days. Not super durable fabric but light weight and packable is the tradeoff. If you want a light weight do-it-all jacket then your search is over!

Love this jacket. Gore-tex PRO provides shelter from the rain, and the light weight fabric means you can always carry it with you - doesn't take up any space in your pack. As all Arc'teryx products, you got everything you need, and nothing you don't need: Hood just fits, long sleeves that stay with you during activity and also made a Medium fit me (6'2"/188cm slim/athletic) snugly but nicely - without getting short on the arms. Well done! The pockets are great, and the little extra length in the back helps keeping you warm and dry. I've used the jacket for everything from hiking with/without backpack, crosscountry skiing, alpine skiing to just everyday, rainy day wear. Where I live, it rains often and A LOT, and this jacket keeps me nice and dry every time. It also keeps well against wear. Love it. Bottom line: For a short cut, long sleeved, functional and lightweight hardshell, look no further.

I bought this a month ago as a gift. The person who received it was very happy. It fits really well and makes the person look thinner.

Does the job in the rain and mixed weather. Sleeves are about 4-5" too long - not sure who this is sized for. I am 5'7 135 with wide shoulders and long arms, but the sleeves are silly long for the size. Velcro wrists help. Features are bare bones - it would be nice to have an internal zip pocket.

It's a great jacket however the dwr coating rubs off very quickly. It's a bit annoying as I now have to re-coat the dwr. Wouldn't recommend using a backpack with it. Other than that it's a brilliant jacket

I quite literally use this jacket for every season. It's light enough to use as a summer windbreak and durable enough to use in the snow. If you're out in the downpour for an extended period (like an hour), it'll eventually start to soak through, which is completely reasonable. For average rain situations, it works like a charm. I typically wear a small but bought a medium to allow for extra space to layer underneath.

Everything you need for a classic hard shell, the only issue with the betas aside from SV is their long slim fit. I have tried both XS and S. the extra small fits better as a 5'6 but the waist is far too tight to layer underneath. But if you go for the size up, the jacket gets too long. Aside from the fit, the jacket does what it's advertised.

I have been wearing this jacket frequently for nearly a year and I have (almost) no complaints. For everyday use, it is absolutely untouchable. It packs down much smaller than most jackets, doesn't hold wrinkles once it's on body, is super light, and the liner is SO comfortable, it's not even funny. You can literally just wear the jacket with no shirt underneath and have a great time. This jacket gives shelter from the elements, but most importantly - it gets out of your way as it does that. It doesn't inhibit movement, comfort, breathability, etc. For daily use, where you're looking for something that can bring you almost anywhere and do it smoothly, this is the ONE! You should know its weaknesses, though. On multiple occasions, I've also pushed this thing a bit too far and it's shown its limitations. It is by no means bullet-proof (or fully water-proof, snow-proof, wind-proof, rock-proof, any of the proofs...). Heavy rain or wet snow for extended periods (30 min+) will thoroughly wet out the face fabric (you'll still be dry-ish, it just won't breathe at all, which can end up being quite a clammy situation). I would not recommend this as an all-winter ski shell in the PNW (or other wet, temperate climates), though it does the bumper seasons perfectly. Given that this is not the intended use of the jacket, I won't hold this against it, but the shell definitely does have its limits. Durability has been really good. I have not babied it in the slightest, and, as far as I can see, there is only one visible scuff on the face fabric. Here's my one main gripe, and that's that there is no internal pocket. Why!? Skiing with this thing would be so much better if I didn't have to contort my body every time I needed to scan my lift pass in the deep front pockets. The older Beta LTs had it, I don't know why they would have taken it away this time... It would be so simple and would solve such an inconvenient issue with the shell. But, that's kind of it. It's perfect otherwise. Get this jacket and you'll have a new best friend to take with you on (almost) all of your adventures.

Add a chest pocket, an inner pocket, and go back to Gore-Tex Pro and this could honestly be sold as "The Perfect Rain Shell"!

This jacket is great for the rainy west coast environment that I live in. It's my all around rain jacket I use for hiking, kayaking, or walking the dog in torrential down pour. I'm happy with the breathability and waterproofness
