First off, let me start this review by saying that I ordered a size Large in this Beta LT. I am male, approximately 5'9", and 185lbs. I have about an average athletic build since I do enjoy weightlifting as a sport, but I also enjoy outdoor sports such as kayaking, hiking, and camping. My chest size is 40" while my waist size is 35". I heard a lot of great things about this product and decided it was time for a new hardshell for skiing/ hiking/ casual wear in rainy weather. I ordered this Beta LT a few days ago and I've only just received it in the mail. Eager to try it on, I opened the box and to my surprise the jacket fit exactly as I thought it would.
Reading many other reviews before making my decision, I noticed that a lot of users rated the jacket as fitting very slim, or trimmer, than the standard regular jacket. THIS IS TRUE! Keep in mind that the jacket is advertised as a trim fit, not an athletic fit, so it is designed to fit closer to the body to retain warmth when participating in activities with high exertion.
The reason why I went with a size Large and not a Medium is because I know I wanted to use this jacket for more than just spring, summer, and fall activities. I wanted to use this jacket for when it gets cold as well. Had I ordered the Medium, the fit would have been so trim so as to only allow a base layer and maybe a very light mid layer. But having ordered the large, I can safely say that I can throw on a base layer, a t-shirt, and a jumper or other heat-retaining article underneath the Beta LT in the event it gets cold outside. Having said this, while wearing just a t-shirt underneath the jacket feels comfortable and does not have too much loose material flapping around due to the largeness of the jacket. I will say the arms length on the jacket is a bit long, but the hook-and-loop tapes at the wrists of the jacket do the job in holding up the sleeves so they don't get in the way. Also, you might want to know that the hood is VERY big (it's designed to house a helmet), but this is remedied by the smart design of the hood so it is easy to secure and tighten the hood around your head without losing the aesthetic appeal.
In summary, if you're wanting this jacket primarily for high-exertion activities where you will only need a simple base layer underneath, then order true to size (i.e., if you're a Medium, then get a Medium). However, if you're like me and want to use this jacket for cold weather activities or you just live in a place that's cold, then you may want to consider sizing up one so you can layer underneath. Either way, you'll enjoy the waterproof and versatility benefits of the Beta LT.
Great product by Arc'teryx! The product quality, all things considered, is amazing!

I've been using my Beta LT Jacket for over a year now and held off on writing a review just to ensure I accurately reflect my experience with it. This is an AMAZING jacket. I live on the southern OR coast and have a 5-mile bike commute to work. I arrive bone-dry to work when I wear both my beta LT and beta pants in the pouring rain. My only issue with this jacket is that it does run a little big, which is surprising to me given that Arc'teryx generally has form-fitting apparel. I absolutely love that I can fit the hood over my bike helmet with ease. Adjusting the hood on my bare head is straightforward as well. Last thing I'll mention, which is probably well known by most, is that Gore-Tex doesn't breathe well, despite claims that it does. As a result, I find myself breaking a sweat very quickly wearing this jacket on a bike ride, even with the pit zips fully open. But I'll take the sweat if it means I'm dry from the rain!

I used this jacket as a backpacking guide this past summer, and was not disappointed. Pit zips offer easy heat release from hiking in the rain, and the zipper functionality was excellent. Packs very small which is essential in backpacking, so overall an excellent jacket!

I bought this jacket in early July and it has done wonders for me. I really enjoy how light weight the jacket is great for hiking. The gore tex works amazing haven't needed to wash the jacket yet after 4 months of wear. Fits perfectly I am 6,0 140 LBs.

Bought this coat to wear for hard rains and New York weather as a shell. Bought size XXL usually wear an xl but bottom is tight so sized up. Completely waterproof and pit zips work to release heat.

Its featherweight. A great lightweight packable shell. It's a bit roomier fitting than other shells that I'm used to from dead bird. The pit zips and inner breast pocket are clutch.

The cut has a subtle intake at the waist that gives it a more fitted appearance. I purchased the medium and am able to easily put a fleece or sweatshirt under it. The fabric is a great weight. It will be great for travel as well as hiking in the rain. The hood is a good size and has the ability to be snugged down as needed. I really liked this color.

I've had a pink beta lt before but lost it several years ago. So glad this delightful color is back! Good job, Arc'teryx!
As to the fitting, it still fits true to the size, but I choose one size up since the arm-pit for the beta lt is narrower than the beta AR. Layering is more comfortable with one size up.

I got the shell about 3 weeks ago. I've done several bad weather trail runs here in Colorado with it. It creates an ideal environment for my body in cold super windy conditions, and allows me to vent with the pit zips if I get warm, like running uphill. The hood is large for running, but will work well for helmet. The only thing I wish it had was an internal snap at the top to unzip the main zipper to vent but keep the shoulder and head protection. This really helps in high output wet conditions. Overall the jacket is awesome!!!

I've had 3 Beta AR jackets over 30 years as an outdoor professional. They have given outstanding service. I don't need the extra pockets or the tougher, heavier fabric anymore and just bought a Beta Lt. A careful inspection reveals the same great attention to detail, design and construction. I live in the SE US where rain and humidity minimize moisture transfer through permeable fabrics. Ventilation is more effective for me. Pit zips and the large, helmet compatible hood promote this as does a "mid-level" GoreTex with a ribbed inner lining. This lining disperses interior moisture best IMO. The fabric is stiff enough to stand off the skin allowing additional ventilation and avoiding "clamminess." The hood, cuff and hem closures are there too, for cold dry conditions. Very glad to have this lighter Beta jacket!

honestly i got this jacket thinking i would only be wearing it when i'm out in the worst weather or up the Ben's but it has quickly turned into my everyday jacket! I am usually an XL being 6'5, but as the jacket is slightly slim i got the XXL and it fits like a glove. The length is perfect, the technology is perfect, definitely worth the money and i can't wait for my next Arc'teryx piece!

I purchased the Beta LT after trying the AR version prior. This one fits my 188cm / 85 kg (6'2" 195 lbs) frame better, in size Large. There's enough room beneath for my Cerium LT or Proton LT, but it's not super baggy when worn over a t-shirt or base layer. The fabric is a little quieter than some hard shells I've had. The pit zips make a much greater difference in breathability than any change to the membrane. If there's any point of criticism, the pockets could stand to be a little higher, and addition of an inner chest pocket would be good also.
Overall, I'm super happy, hoping to wear this one out.

I carried out a prolonged internet search and visited many outdoor pursuit stores before making this purchase. I'm at an age now where extreme activities are behind me and need a perfect fit jacket for me and and my trusty pooch to go walking on the moors, hills, woods, coastal paths and beaches etc. This Beta LT model of jacket ticked all the boxes for me. It's the perfect weight, has pockets in the right place, perfect length from neck to below the hips, and the quality of the manufacturing, seams, zips, draw strings etc is outstanding, and finally they are true to size. There is so much variation by other manufacturer's on what they consider to be L, XL, XXL etc, but this Arc"teryx Beta is the perfect fit for me.
