I've been wearing these for a few months now, and while I really like the look of them, they are very uncomfortable, and I have to stop wearing them. They don't have enough sole support and they lack the flexibility that a walking shoe should have. The tops of my big toes are sore, my heels ache, and I tire from walking, which I do a lot of in NYC. I am 54 yo (in good shape, tho) so maybe these could be suitable for younger buyers, but for me, I can no longer wear them.

I read a review on zappos from a woman recommending these for women who find women's Ecco to be too narrow to try the men's version. This style is exactly what I was looking for and was so happy to have seen the woman's review. I am young but have arthritis in my big toes and need extra room around that area but want cute shoes.these shoes fit the bill perfectly!
I love the grey color and also love the shoe laces! They are not your typical lace material but made to look like leather.
I am a 8.5-9 in women's and decided to get the 40 because I wasn't sure on size. They are about a size too big so I am returning them for a 39. I've tried other Ecco styles in the past and always returned them because in women's, the 40 was too big and 39 too small. Fingers crossed that I have better luck with the men's in a 39.
Great looking shoe, great quality

I've always worn "old skool"-style skate shoes, even back when they weren't old skool... Now that I'm getting to be the old one, I've found that my skate shoes weren't giving me the kind of support and comfort that I needed if I was going to be on my feet all day. I had even gotten to the point where I was wearing kinda goofy looking running shoes so my feet wouldn't hurt at the end of the day.
Last year, I came upon the Ecco Soft Retro, and they kinda changed my life. They are much more comfortable than my skate shoes, and even better than my expensive, custom fitted running shoes. They also have the look that I like and which goes great with jeans or shorts. The grey version are even low-key enough that I can get away with wearing them with chinos and a polo shirt at the office.
This is my second pair, and I've found that both the upper and the soles on my original pair wear quite well. The suede-like leather uppers get some nice character to them as they wear, without looking trashed or dirty.
I wear a size 12 in most shoes and have some arthritis in my toes. I find that the size 46 fits well, with enough room that my toes don't get jammed and sore. I have somewhat flat and narrow feet, and I find that the Soft Retro is more comfortable for me than either the Ecco Kyle or the Ecco Soft 7 Casual Tie, which I also own.
I'd also recommend:

Love Eccos, and always have. While the leather is nice and I like the style, these shoes have no support at all and are not nearly as cushioned as most in this brand. If you like to walk barefoot or are not walking far, go for it, but if you are looking for a cushioned sneaker or with arch support, this one is not for you. Returned, sadly.

Hands down my favorite sneaker, you can dress them up or down. I have very sensitive feet and with these shoes I can be on my feet all day (I am a teacher) absolutely comfortable. I have taken these to Theme parks walked all day in total comfort. Honestly I’d rather wear these than running shoes.

I really loved this shoe. The style is exactly like I want, so I bought this hoping it was last longer than my old pattern of buying cheap shoes that one last a year. These shoes didn't make it a year before breaking though!!! The shoe split between the upper and the sole on one side. So disappointed.

I purchased these from my husband. We have gotten Ecco Brand sneakers for him before and he has a size 12. However the 12 was very small for him, and he ended up needing a 13. He’s a 12 in every other shoe he wears so I feel like this particular model must run a little small. That being said, the shoes are super cute! We got them in the all black, the black and white, and the dark gray (midnight) color. They are very stylish and nice shoes. He’s very happy

Good fit for me - size 14 US/48 EU. I have a little bit of heel slip when I first put them on, but it goes away after wearing for awhile. No long walks yet or long days on my feet, but these seem to be really comfortable for what they are. Definitely better quality soles than the Adidas they are replacing.

Husband bought these and LOVES them. 9M, perfect fit. Great looking with casual pants. Loves these. I imagine he will order more. Ecco is a great shoe for him, always predictable in comfort.

Great looking shoe for casual wear this spring and summer. ECCO brand is a good fit for me usually, however this shoe in my usual 40 was 1/2 size too big. I returned it and in size 39, the shoe fit great. Very happy with this leather sneaker look.

I have purchased 4 pairs of ECCO soft retro sneakers including the grey/green wild dove offering. All fit and look great at a reasonable price. I normally wear a 13 2E shoe and the size 47 ECCO was perfect even with the removable insert in place. The wild dove model is a bit green in some lighting conditions but I find it unique and attractive. A nice compliment to all the shades of brown and black.

I have two pairs of ECCO soft retro sneakers. Both were comfortable right out of the box. I normally wear a 13 2E in running shoes, tennis shoes, and golf shoes all from New Balance. I bought these shoes in size 47 M and the fit is fine even with the removable insert in place. People with narrow feet will probably have to lace tight to get a proper fit. That’s the beauty of a lace up sneaker. You can lace them loose for more room or tight for narrow feet. Shoes look great and so far are holding up well. They compare favorably with ECCO soft 7’s at a substantially lower price.

Ecco is my husband's go to brand. He wears them all the time. Put them on and immediately comfortable (his usual size). Great looking shoe and cool grey color.

I'm a teacher who stands almost all day have been dealing with plantar fasciitis in my right foot the past few months, which prompted me to upgrade my shoes. Putting these on offered IMMEDIATE relief, no joke! They are a sporty-looking shoe AND offer great support! In terms of sizing, I usually wear a 9.5 women's in most brands, but went with the men's 40 because the women's Eccos are just a little too narrow for me.

Good fit as always for me with Ecco size 42. Great style. I often replace the Ecco insole with an arch support. I'll do that on these shoes as well.

I am loving these shoes -- just as comfortable as I expect ECCOs to be. But unlike most ECCOs there was a problem with the laces on these being too short (at least on size 46). I had to buy longer 54" laces for these in order to be able to tie them, and I also switched the lace color to white, which I think looks better. Other than that, great shoes.

Very handsome is the operative word that describes these shoes, and from any angle. Consistent with other reviewers, there is no break in period. The fit around the toe and width of the foot is immediate and excellent, but "felt" a half size larger in the heel. This is my second pair and I had the same issue with the way the first pair (Retro Soft 7 ) felt in the heel. This was offset by tying the laces a little tighter, and I suppose its better to feel more room in the heel to minimize friction if wearing\walking for long periods of time. The only real issue is the color fastness of the white edge of sole as it tends to wear to a yellowish hue in some spots, especially if you clean them periodically. However, did I say handsome?

Shoes fit great, love the color but the suede-like material scuffs with the slightest touch. Even after just trying them on, they were very scuffed. The photos below were taken after just trying them on. You can wipe away the scuffs with a towel, but they look really beat up even when new after 30 seconds of wearing. I also got the same shoe in black which is not suede-like and it looks much better and does not scuff like this.

The fit, look and feel are as expected. I have not contact Zappos about this yet. When I received the shoes some of the stitching at the heal had come undone. It was only a couple of stitches so I wasn't really concerned. I've worn these shoes for about two weeks now, three more stitches have come apart and I can fold back the leather. I will be contacting Zappos costumers services next to ask for a replacement.

These shoes cut into the back of my foot something horrible, had to send them back.
The ECCO Kyle Street Tie was almost the same shoe without the discomfort, I'd recommend it instead.

I have a LOT of pairs of Ecco shoes. I wear a Euro 43 medium and they always just fit. These are no exception. I'm not hugely in love of the outer material but the price was right and the fit is excellent.
