It pains me to write the following: I have owned several pairs of these SAS Relaxed Sandals over the years, and have absolutely loved them. It always felt as if I was walking on a cloud when I put them on, and with my bunions, neuromas, hammer toes and heel bone spurs, these sandals were a lifeline to me. HOWEVER: Some time in the last two years, they obviously altered the design, apparently to better the margin of their bottom line. The footbed is thinner, no longer providing that beloved cloud feel. Yes, it still accommodates my feet anomalies, but the sandal's comfort has been astronomically reduced, making this sandal like any other, only with a much too high price tag! It's a shame that a US company has to succumb to the practices of all the other cheaply made overseas shoe companies. Very disappointed!!

Fit is spot on, true to size. Perfect. I had this notion that I wanted a pair of brown leather sandals that look like a monk might wear them while living in a simple hovel somewhere. Rustic, simple. I have a couple pair of SAS shoes, and thought the Relax might fit my desire. Well, when they arrived, I put them on and walked up to my husband. He looked at my feet and said, "You look like a saint who just walked across the desert." I told him that's the look I was going for! They feel like puffy marshmallows on my feet, super comfortable. Not only is the leather super soft, but its sort of puffy. And the foot bed is as smooth as it gets. The shoe is lightweight, like air. As far as looks, they look much nicer in person....not a nerd shoe or old lady shoe....no offense to either......I'm surprised that I actually find them beautiful. I thought they'd be practical at best, but they're really cool and lovely, too. I want another color, but nothing has struck me. Perhaps a divine intervention will occur. Bless you for reading.

I have painful neuropathy in my feet. So I already owned 2 pair of these comfortable, supportive, & great fitting sandals. Now Ive bought two more. These are unquestionably the most comfortable sandals I've ever owned. And even after a day on my feet, my neuropathy is still tolerable. The wide straps across instep and base of toes keeps my feet stable when walking. The sole is wide & also helps keep my whole foot stable & aren't so narrow that I can "slip off" the sole & potentially turn an ankle. The heel and straps adjust amply to accommodate most any foot (even narrow heels like mine). I can never say enough good things about these SAS sandals. Even if your podiatrist says you shouldn't wear sandals, these will afford you all the protections your doc is trying to give you in closed shoes. I now own four pairs and am happy with the comfort & the style. Great colors too. The denim blue is great with jeans & more. The beige goes great with everything. And I have brown and black for everything else. Here in the midatlantic region I can wear these three seasons too. I am 66 and wear an 8. They are always true to size and fit exactly the same every time. I hope SAS never stops making them & that Zappos will always carry them. Hope this helps your decision. Thanks zappos for your always prompt service and for having the shoes I need.

SAS Relaxed is the perfect sandal for people with foot discomfort. The uppers are padded leather, soft and comfy. There is elastic at the back strap so that once you have the front straps positioned where you want them, it is easy to slide into the shoe without undoing the straps. This ease of use is good for arthritis sufferers and people with dexterity problems. I admit, they are not "high fashion" but who cares about that when they feel so comfortable. There is a nice arch support, plenty of toe room and they can be worn all day. They come in a variety of colors, and like all SAS shoes, last a long time since they are so well made using high quality materials. I always buy the black ones since I prefer the suede inner sole to the cork ones. Be aware of that if you order this shoe since there are different innersoles in the various color options.

The feel of these shoes right out of the box was like no other. Unbelievable padding so my feet could not find any hurting points. I am in love with this padded leather & the blue color is like faded shiny denim. I have burning Neuropathy feet by the end of the day. My shoes were delivered next day at 8PM, but in spite of the late day try on I was keeping these shoes. I bought size 9 for my 8 1/2 feet 7 the fit was perfect. You get buckles & not Velcro..The foot bed and leather sides gives a secure feel around my feet for stable walking when you have Neuropathy. I have had the best brand shoes all my life but no others had this great soft padding. For unstable walking I have bought Wauldlaufer Hanni for my foot drop walking. They cost more than these SAS but SAS comfort is far more superior. Alegrias low profile soles are nice also but not as good as these SAS sandals. SAS Relaxed sandals are true to the SAS brothers pledge. Only sorry I did not try this brand sooner. Give SAS a try I think you won't be disappointed.. I will buy another pair soon.

This is a perfect summer sandal especially for those like me that have bunions, hammer toe, heel spurs and arthritis in my foot and knee. This sandal did not require any break-in time, I wore it right out of the box. The straps are very soft and with the buckle straps, they can be adjusted to meet my swollen feet needs. I will most likely buy this sandal in a second color because I like it so much. Some people ask if it is a Birkenstock but this SAS sandal far surpasses any Birkenstock in my comfort, support and style.

A terrific shoe. Beautifully made (here in the U.S.A.) with very nice leather. I have a narrow foot, but a bunion sticking out of my left foot and one growing upward on my right foot. Pretty hard to find a shoe that is nice and fits. This has many adjustments. It's great with pants. Socks or not. Very, very comfortable. I highly recommend anyone with a foot problem to try this brand. Even with a problem, it's a very good shoe and worth the price. I bought the 8 Narrow. Perfect.

I buy SAS shoes because of 5 reasons: 1. I am required to add a 1 3/8 inch build-up on my right shoe. I have found nearly zero shoe brands that can accommodate this. 2. I have plantars fasciitis in both feet. 3. I have a heel spur on my right foot. 4. I wear size 6.5 wide. The smaller wide size are usually hard to find if not impossible in other stores. 5. I was born with flat feet. With all these concerns I have found SAS to be the one shoe I can wear without pain. This is so important to me and many other people with similar foot problems. With that said I also want to add these shoes are so very comfortable and cute as well. I have received several compliments when I wear these shoes. I purchased my first pair of this style this summer in multi snake navy and was able to get them on sale at the time. I love sales as well. I know I have to pay a lot more for shoes than most people plus the $70 for each build up added to my right shoe. But it is what it is. I am so blessed to have a shoe company that makes the shoes I need, that look great, are in so many styles & colors and are so comfortable. God bless.

I have tender tootsies, so love to find comfy shoes/sandals. These are very comfortable and I love the color (denim), but I will admit since I wear a large size(11) they kind of remind me of duck feet (good thing they're not yellow ??).

I have terrible foot problems. Old stress fracture, Morton’s neuroma, and Plantars fasciitis. Finding a shoe that is comfortable has been a nightmare. This is the ONLY shoe I can wear all day with absolutely no foot pain whatsoever. They aren’t pretty, for sure, but having excruciating pain in any other shoe, I’ll take comfort over looks any day! They’re expensive, but trust me when I say they are worth every single penny.

I bought this pair in a size 9 Medium, in the brown leather and they felt like heaven when I put them on my poor aching feet! I went right back online and bought a second pair in the blue suede! They are expensive sandals and I would not have done that if they were not exceptional sandals. I have neuropathy and hammertoes and a bunion, shoes that don’t hurt are hard to find! I can wear Taos and Merrells for a few hours but my feet will still start aching before the end of the day. I can wear these all day long. They are a bit more closed in than many sandals and I live in the desert so I still swap them out with other sandals but when I know I will be walking a lot, these are definitely what I pick! Yah for SAS, I just discovered them and am in love! I also am in need of a knee replacement so I need good support, these provide that too. I have only found two brands in sandals that do that, SAS and FitFlop, but FitFlops sit up a bit high with no back strap and my balance is not great so they are more for around the house. Their thick foam sole can’t be beat though. Merrells and Taos are great around the house or for a short event without a lot of walking. They always fit and don’t hurt my feet they just don’t provide the soft footbed that helps my knees and eases my neuropathy. These sandals aren’t gorgeous, but they are a rich supple leather and have a their own charm. For those who have gone thru lots of shoes to find ones that are comfortable all day the price is well worth the cost. Thank goodness for Zappos! This time I ordered about 10 pair of sandals and sent 6 back. I kept these and another SAS Shelly for going out to dinner etc., and a FitFlop and a Merrell. Then I ordered a second of this sandal in the blue nubuck. It’s a fun color and will go great with jeans. I live in a warm climate and can wear these almost year around. These should last me a long time! I will be taking a lot of my older shoes that hurt my feet to Goodwill.

I just love SAS shoes! I am so glad that Zappos carries them now because the closest SAS Comfort Shoe Store is an hour away from me so I can't get there when I'd like to. SAS makes quality shoes that fit properly and comfortably. The sandals have nice soft leather straps and best of all, no Velcro! The width is perfect and the innersole is very soft against the foot. I did not keep these sandals because the strap was too high for my heel. Otherwise, these would have been a sure bet for me. They are similar in style to SAS's Captiva sandal, of which I own several pairs. I highly recommend SAS shoes to anyone looking for a made-in-the USA quality shoe. They are worth the price.

My "Correction" to my Review from July 4, 2018. Well..........I called the source: SAS Customer Care: SAS DID NOT CHANGE the construction of the "Relaxed". They explained to me that it is the CORK material on the surface of the footbed - that feels DIFFERENT and RESPONDS differently. The cork can make the whole footbed FEEL firmer, apparently. They said that some people PREFER the SUEDE surface on top of footbed and other people like the CORK. SO.....NO changes in thickness! NO changes in design. Just CORK vs SUEDE. They are happy to pass on any comments to their design team. FYI: My EARLIER review was written in order to THANK another reviewer for mentioning how she thought SAS had changed the "Relaxed". My SAS Relaxed in "Multi snake" WITH cork lined footbed were purchased "in person". (MOST of my shoes are purchased from Zappos) Zappos does not yet have the Relaxed in Snake (WITH Cork Footbed) Zappos DOES have the SAS "Cozy" in Snake pattern with Cork. Hope this helps somebody!

These are, without doubt, the most comfortable sandals ever! When the pair of SAS Relaxed sandals I had bought many years ago finally wore out, I was thrilled to discover Zappos carries them. I bought them in Rainbow Red in size 5. I thought they might look too old ladyish but no, they are adorable! The width is adjustable, the footbed is soft suede and the rainbow red is cute, cute, cute! I love them and would buy them in every color if I suddenly inherited lots of money.

I have very arthritic feet. These SAS sandals are the only summery shoes I have with the comfort factor I require. Frankly, I think they are so ugly that they’re cute. This is my fifth pair. This style is a staple in my closet. The leather is soft. The box is wide, but the buckle holes allow a lot of discretion. The arch is the best of any sandal I have tried, and I have tried a lot. Buy ‘em and try’em!!

Bought the 8M in the rainbow teal. Absolutely love the color! Purchased on sale because I wasn't positive I would love them. I do. Incredibly comfy. I need a heel lift in left shoe--I glued mine in with Shoe Goo and it worked beautifully. The lining of the straps is incredibly soft and comfy. So glad I purchased!

I really like the SAS brand. They are made with quality leather and other materials right here in the USA. I tried several different styles of their shoes and found the fit (size) and quality consistent no matter which style of shoe. So overall an A+ for SAS sizing and quality. I really loved this sandal. The fit was great and the comfort was wonderful. This is a sandal that I felt I could walk and walk and not have my feet bothered. I like the fact that there are buckles for the adjustments and not velcro (escpecailly for this amount of money). The back strap is nicely padded so I did not feel there would be a rubbing issue at all - no problem there. The only reason I did not keep this sandal was because it did not have enough support for me. Now, with that being said, it has really good support - for the average person. However, I need a lot of support. To give you an idea of the kind of support I mean, I wear Birkenstock sandals and Dansko professional clogs. So, even though they were not exactly right for me in the support category, they were top notch in the fit, comfort and quality categories. I truly wish they would have worked for me. I highly recommend you try them for yourself. I do believe they are worth the money if they work for you.

I was hesitant to order this sandal but I am so glad that I did. It is the most comfortable shoe I have worn in many years. I wear a size that is very hard to find (11.5 M) yet these fit like custom-made shoes because they are totally and easily adjustable. The foot bed is soft and supportive with a good arch support. The straps – all of them – are completely and richly cushioned so there is absolutely no rubbing or discomfort in any way. I was worried that they might look sort of dumpy but, when I met my fashionable daughter for lunch, I looked at her shoes and saw that she was wearing a very similar style by a top designer and they looked great on her. I own the black snake sandals and I'm going back to order a different color. Every day that I wear them, I think good thoughts about the designer who came up with this style.

I couldn't get past the appearance of these sandals to even consider them. The foot bed was too firm for my feet and there was not enough arch support anyway. They are decent sandals, just not for me, just my personal taste and comfort/support needs. They would be okay for someone who needed a lot of width and adjustability in their sandals. I am looking into some of the other SAS sandal styles.

I bought these from a store several years ago. The thing that stood out for me was the soft straps. Way softer than normal sandal straps and even softer than another style of SAS sandals. So very comfy and no blisters from hard straps. I like the design as well. The soft, adjustable straps make for an easy, accurate, fit.

Wow! These are wonderful. First let me say that I have wide feet, a bunion, super sensitive skin (everything gives me blisters), my feet swell in the heat, and I like to walk 4+ miles a day. Needless to say sneakers/shoes won’t cut it in the summer. But now my search for a pair of sandals that don't give me blisters, and enough support in the soles to prevent my legs from aching, has finally ended. These have lots of cushion in the soles. The leather is soft, and there are enough adjustments to allow for the bunion. I've been wearing these for about a month, and even after being drenched in the rain, the leather is still super soft. I tried at least 10-15 different styles and manufacturers of sandals, all of which had some issue, before finding these. If you want to keep reading, here's a run down of some of the brands I tried: Ecco - not wide enough across the bunion and gave me blisters. Merrell - not enough cushion in the sole. Orthofeet - gave me blisters on my heels. I was even trying men's sandals. So, thank you SAS. I hope you never discontinue this model, because I'm sure I'll be back for more.

I bought this shoe last year but I've bought the same style in various colors over the past 10 years. This is a very comfortable shoe. I wore it on a trip to Europe and my feet never hurt. It has a lot of stability on uneven surfaces. Your foot stays in the sandal unlike some where your foot twists and slides around in it. I cannot wear a shoe with firm contours due to a foot deformity I developed after years of walking on cement floors in my job as a nurse. This one is soft and cushioned. I know the manufacturer recommends only cleaning it with a brush and soapy water but I throw mine in the washer, cold water gentle cycle, then air dry and they come out like new. As long as SAS keeps making this model, I'll keep buying it.

I have owned 6 pairs of the relaxed style over the years. They are the most comfortable sandals ever. I have a high arch, narrow heel, wider instep and these can be adjusted to fit like a glove and it is the softest leather I have ever felt. The contoured footbed is so comfortable. And they last forever. The elastic does wear out eventually but can be replaced. Only 1 complaint: I wish the denim color came in narrow width.

I have never owned SAS somthought I would try these. I compared against the Mephisto Allarounder and Ecco Off-road. These won out. The leather gave me a snug soft foot hold on upper and sides of feet. The footbed is soft but sturdy with very comfortable arch support. The entire footbed supports the bottom of my foot which I feel will hold the top of my foot and the small bones o. The top of the foot in place with little bending or movement as I walk. Again...they are a soft leather enveloping the entire foot. I chose the red and they are cute and the zip of color is stylish. I also like the nucleus rather than Velcro tabs...they are less bulky than Velcro straps. I am ready to walk all day! The Ecco off-road were next in line for my choice of foot bed and support. I don’t know how they do it...but their arch support was excellent. The support from the arch to toes was good but a little more flatter. The Mephisto Allarounder had ok arch support but were the flattest support of the three pair...all three were good....but I chose good, better, best....and Sas won best for me.
