This bag has no interior pockets so putting in your stuff turns it into a jumble. Also the bag has no structure so once you put all your stuff in, the bag collapses except around your items. Really it's all looks and no function. The outside pockets are good but the zippered ones on the front can only hold small items like a lippie.

I do not usually write reviews but I have to now. This backpack handbag is WONDEFUL. I am a true handbag and shoe lover. But I have been recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. I have to carry food, insulin, besides my usual too much stuff. I want a lightweight fashionable bag, and a comfy backpack style is great with m very active lifestyle. This bag looks amazing, is so comfortable to wear, clasps shut for security, easy to get in, easy to sling on one shoulder and it carries ALL my stuff. I am ecstatic and saving up for another in another color. I got the camo, such a great pop, yet a “print neutral.” Thank you Rebecca MINKOFF, thought I’d never be able to really afford your bags, I love bags, but this lightweight nylon type bag is as cool as any leather bag, and packs in a suitcase for travel just flat. Nothing about this bag should change, even the secure zip pocket that lies against your back when carrying, and the ability to clasp it shut for protection. But it’s so gorgeous and cool, love, love, love.....thanks Zappos for being there and for bringing us name brands we can afford when we aren’t near big cities. Don’t hesitate to try this bag!!

I purchased this backpack almost 2 years ago, in March 2018, and loved using it daily for a good year. But after a year, parts of it began to fray and shred. The top loop handle, the flap over the zipper, and the bottom connecting piece with metal hook clip attached are vinyl. The top handle and flap have shredded, and stitching on the handle began to loosen and hang, and I had to cut strings off every so often, so that the appearance of these two pieces now make my backpack look worn and cheap. This is unfortunate since the rest of the bag is still in perfect condition.  I wish they had made the vinyl parts out of leather as I would have gladly paid a bit higher price for this lighter weight bag. In fact, I had ordered the all leather version of this bag at the same time as the nylon bag, and as beautiful as it was, I had to return it because it was too heavy for me with all of my items inside, and a bit difficult to open and retrieve items through the more rigid leather opening. I have scoliosis, and my spine surgeon and physical therapist advised me to use a lightweight backpack. Although the nylon backpack lacked structure, I placed a lightweight organizer insert inside for all of my stuff which worked perfectly, and it was still very light on my back. A few pieces of leather would not have been too heavy for me. When it began looking too awful, I took it to two shoe/purse repair shops a month ago. The repair shops are highly regarded on Yelp with 4-5 stars, and both told me the the whole purse would have to be taken apart, the lining removed, and new leather pieces sewn in. The cost for just replacing the vinyl handle at one shop would be $45, the cost for replacing all 3 vinyl parts with leather would be at least $85 at another, and they both weren't eager to do the job. I seriously mulled it over, since I have loved using this purse; but in the end I decided it wasn't worth the cost and unknown results. Going in the trash and very disappointed; if they decide to remake this purse with leather replacement parts for the vinyl, I would be interested.

I like the Rebecca Minkoff Julian bag and have a full size one in leather. The nylon bag is a bit smaller, despite no differences in the listed measurements. It’s comfortable to wear. The main difference between the nylon and the leather is the absence of internal pockets in the nylon bag. It’s a little less structured, so more shapeless when not full. The outside back pocket is large - longer top to bottom than in the leather bag. If it had internal pockets or some sort of internal organization, it would be ideal for travel, as it’s lightweight.

Love the style but the straps are way thinner than the 1st generation Rebecca Minkoff Julian Nylon backpacks! So thin that the buckles on the straps cant keep desired strap length (straps end up sliding down the the longest length on their own). Such a shame!

Love Julian backpack. Very disappointed with monarch color. It is not rich orange like site but pale orange. I am very frustrated. WS so excited when I saw as I have been looking for orange bag for a while. May return after holiday season.

It’s a lightweight water resistant backpack that is perfect for travel, but after two trips the leather on the handle is fraying and white threads show. Ugh!

LOVE LOVE LOVE! Long time fan of the Rebecca Minkoff (leather) Backpack, but wanted something a little "lighter" for the summer and running around with my kids school and soccer activities. This nylon version is just perfect :)

I love this bag. The “no structure” issue that another reviewer noted is true, but that’s why I love it. It has exterior pockets for chapsticks and cell phones and sits easily on my back. Can’t even feel it’s there. The leather tassels are removable. It is very durable and adjusts easily.

LOVE LOVE LOVE! I also have the mini, obsessed with this backpack purse...I’d get in more colors if I could afford it! Medium is great for carrying extra items, paperwork etc...use it whenever we travel and on “Shopping Trips” as it is more roomier than the mini. Mini is perfect for the basics. Both are light enough and back straps perfect for those with back/shoulder/neck issues. THUMBS UP!

Love the concept however it slips off my shoulder often and it’s hard to find stuff in the amount of space the opening has.

I bought this bag for a beach vacation and it became my main bag all summer. I love the look of it, I love how much it can hold, and its pretty sturdy. I loved it so much that I recently bought the leather version because I wanted something I little more polished but this is still a great bag for travel and casual days. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is the lack of interior pockets, something the leather version does have, so I use my LeSportsac pouches to organize my stuff.

I was looking for a backpack to take on vacation that would look more urban than trail. This bag caught my eye. It's a good size for touring, shopping, etc. I like that you could move the clip on the front of the bag to cover the zipper plus there is a zipper on the back. The pockets on the side were nice but a bit small to fit items like sunglasses. The pouch has a lot of space but I think my things would get jumbled in it and it would be difficult to find things.

All was good with regards to material, etc. However, the leather top handle broke within a few mints of purchase. And, the leather fringe attached to the zippers comes off too easily....lost one though I don’t know when or where.

Material feels thin and the straps don't feel substation. Such a shame as the design is cute. Would have been better if it was leather.
