When these arrived, I tried them on, but they did not fit. No matter which socks I used, they felt "wrong." I have size 7D feet with short toes and a high arch. Then I realized that it wasn't the shoes, it was the way they were laced! Lacing the shoes as they come from the factory will not give me the correct fit, I need less lacing across the top of my foot. I did a search for how to lace your shoes and found the most wonderful site (verwellfit.com) with illustrations and instructions for all types of feet. I used their lacing technique (#3) and it's like I'm wearing an entirely different pair of shoes. (Thanks Wendy, for the great instructions.) The shoes have great memory foam on the footbed, excellent padding around the ankle. Walking in them is a pleasure. I feel like I'm standing straighter, I feel less pressure on my hips (arthritis) and back (degenerated discs). I could do without the two white dots on the outside of each shoe (it's the umlaut in the brand name), but a black sharpie should dispatch those in quick order. All around a nice shoe. Can't wait to take them on trip to Chicago in a couple of weeks.

I have a flattening arch, a heel spur, and plantar faschiitis. I just learned that I have been wearing the wrong width shoe and this might be why I now have foot problems. And, I need a shoe that fits a narrower-to-average heel but offers a wider toe box. In the search for an every day sneaker, I found these in black in 10W. Voila! They fit with a wider box for my toes and cradle my heel. They offer excellent arch support for my flat arch and my regular arch, and I can actually run around in them for hours before my spur flairs up. At first I thought the laces were too short to double tie, as is my habit, but these excellent laces stay put once tied. I LOVE THIS SHOE!!! I wish this shoe came in more colors. I have received compliments on them practically every time I leave the house in them. AND, they don't make my duck feet look too big. I will be looking for more Ryka shoes in the future!

Bought these trying to look for a new gym shoe. Zappos sells this as a cross training shoe, but Ryka's website sells it as a walking shoe. Would be a great walking shoe especially for travel, but not what I'm looking for.

This is a very cute shoe. It's comfortable, but almost too comfortable. The lovely squish in the heel area is so soft that it allows for a bit of up and down motion. Tying the shoe quite tight fixes this issue, but I'd rather not tie my shoe that tight at the tongue. The cool pattern on the bottom of the shoe can be felt through the bottom. Again, it is soft and bouncy, but I didn't like feeling the exaggerated texture. This is the first Ryka shoe I've tried, and I will be trying others in the future.

Thanks to childbirth, arthritis, and a medical condition that causes my feet to swell and shrink, I have a tough time finding shoes to fit. I have gone to DSW, Shoe Carnival, Kohl’s & everywhere in between but they hardly carry anything over a size 9 & the only wides are usually only in the (hideous) workshoe category. These shoes fit like a dream right out of the box. I wore them twelve hours the first day just to see if there was rubbing or heel slip. When my feet started to do their usual swelling, I simply retied with looser laces. My heel never slipped and there is a ton of vertical and horizontal room in the toe box. At first I thought that maybe the foam under the heel was too cushiony but now it seems to have settled down and fits my foot. Two big bonuses that I never thought I’d get in an attractive wide shoe—the shape of them is still feminine and they have extra durable material above the toes for people like me who wear holes in the tops of their shoes.

I had fallen in love with Ryka years ago and decided that for me, buying without trying on, I would go with a brand I know are comfortable. After reading the reviews, I did opt to go a half size larger and they fit perfect. I usually wear a 9, but went with a 9.5 and there is no additional room, so you may want to go the half size up. I find them to be comfortable and perfect. Just what I remember about why I fell in love with the brand years ago. I will buy more.

These shoes were best fit for my size 8.5 W feet after trying Nike, New Balance and Asics. The toe box was roomy and the heels didn't sleep. There is some rubbing on my left foot on the heel and ankle, but I think it must be because that foot is shaped differently than my right, which does not have any of those problems with these shoes. I think they are the best I'm going to find and I'm keeping them.

I love how comfortable these shoes are, BUT I purchased them 7 months ago and they are already falling apart. Underneath my big toe and under the ball of my foot has an actual worn out hole in the insole from general wear. I wear these shoes 3-5 days a week, walking/standing on concrete floors only. I'm really disappointed that they are already in need or replacing. The top of the shoe is also starting to separate from the seam and fraying. That being said, I think these were some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn to work. I work in a warehouse standing all day on concrete floors. The first 2 weeks wearing them gave me horrible cramps in my shins because of how cushioned they were, but once I got used to them, they greatly helped my general back pain, leg pain and foot pain that I get from working on my feet all day. I'm torn whether to buy another pair or find a new company because of how quickly they fell apart.

Looks great in pics on line. Was expecting better quality. Materials used seem cheap. Really looks like a 10.00 shoe with a big price tag.

I loved this shoe so much that I purchased a second identical pair! Really dug the color, a grey-green, and the grow-grain laces. They are ultra comfortable and fit like a glove! Currently my go-to sneaker, I wanted a back-up so I can wear them a good, long time.

Comfortable walking shoe

Me: Will be 60 years old in Aug. Was told by a pediatrist I had “ hammer toes”, which made wearing ANY shoe very painful. He suggested wearing shoes in a wide to give my VERY neglected old feet room to breath. So, this was my first pair of Rykas. It was also my first pair of wide shoes. I. Am. In. Love! Wasn’t sure if I should get my true size of 9.5 or order up a 1/2 size. So, I ordered both. The 9.5 was perfect. Seriously felt perfect right from the box. I wore them all day long without one complaint about comfort. I’ve had them for almost 2 weeks now and still no complaint about comfort. But I do have 2 minor complaints about style. One, they are not a ‘quiet’ shoe. They sound like clod-hoppers when walking on linoleum. And two, a little more serious...do NOT walk in damp soil in these. Because of the design on the bottom of the shoe mud literally gets caked on...and in...EVERY crevice. You’ll be leaving mud clods EVERYwhere. I spent more time at the sink scrubbing them clean than I did trimming flowers. Overall, I love these. They’re excellent walking shoes. I’ll definitely be buying another pair of Rykas in the near future...maybe they have some more suitable for gardening ;)
