I love everything about these shoes EXCEPT that the velco piece is so very small that it's hard for the shoes to stay velcro'd! They are super easy to get on, they are ridiculously cute. I must be doing something wrong since I don't see similar complaints about the velcro not staying attached.

Super cute, easy to put on. My child wore these 3x and the bottom Velcro strap came off. It will reinsert however it comes out continuously.

We love Plae shoes! I started buying them when my son would wear through the top of his (what I thought were nice quality) shoes. Plae shoes withstand and are in good condition even after he has grown out of them. It seems 3 years is the mark where they are tough on shoes and we become exclusive to Plae. I also like that they can wear them to somewhat dressy events and they don’t appear to be as casual as tennis shoes.

I originally purchased these for my son to wear with orthotics, but they didn't fit. More because of the orthotics than these shoes. Because of the great quality, flexible removable and breathability, I decided to keep them. My son loves them and they are ridiculously cute in the neon green.

I am thankful to the people who mentioned in their reviews that these seem about a half size smaller than average. I found that to be the case, which means I ordered 11.5 instead of the 11 I would have ordered otherwise. This is our first pair of Plae shoes for my almost-three-year-old. I prefer he have lightweight and flexible shoes that are close to being barefoot. We discovered Merrell Bare Steps just as he hit the biggest size they make, and after a lot of research, I decided Plae might make a good follow-up. So far he loves them (and he normally balks at first when I put new shoes on him). They are flexible and have a wide toe box and good grip for climbing. They stay on great and he thinks he runs faster in them than his other shoes. :) I think we've found our new shoe brand for him, and I love that we can order the velcro tabs in other designs and colors from Plae. I'm including a picture of the Plae Ty in 11.5 as compared to the Merrell Bare Steps size 10. The Merrell shoes run about a half size big, and you can see they're almost as big as the 11.5 Plae, which is why I say the Plae ones seem to run about a half size small. Other shoes we've worn that inform my "average size" idea are Carters, OshKosh, Old Navy, and Under Armour.

Most durable shoe for a little guy in my opinion. These are our 3rd pair from this brand. It is a little on the pricey side but worth it in my opinion because you don’t need to buy another pair every 2 months. These stand the test of time for a very active little boy or girl.

We've had the Tys two spring-summer seasons in a row now. I love the style, the eco credentials, that they are easy to get on and off, and how lightweight and flexible they are. I only hesitate at 5 stars because they crease badly and the white rubber marks quickly. They don't look like new for long! Some colors are better than others for this.

Grandchild wouldn’t take them off. Wanted to wear them to bed. His gait is excellent in these shoes.

We love Plae shoes! My kiddo is super rough on shoes. They hold up really well, well-made, kiddo approved. Highly recommend, worth every penny!

I keep coming back to Plae shoes over and over again especially this style and color. The styles look great - casual but not a standard sneaker. They hold up pretty well, but I notice that once I wash them, they just aren’t the same. They seem to wear more quickly after the first wash. I still keep buying them though, because they are cute and comfy shoes for little boys.

My 4 1/2 year old son loooooooooves these shoes. He loves them so much, he has finally decided he doesn’t need help getting his shoes on. He’s just jumped up to a 12 and I got the 12.5, and they fit well with a little space for growth. He’s got a thick foot (not wide, thick) so sometimes I have to get a wide on other brands, but these fit him well on the medium width. We’ve had them only a couple weeks so I am looking forward to taking advantage of their washability when they finally get too dirty.

I love these shoes for my kids. I bought the girl’s style for my daughter and now I got these for my son(age three). I love them for my kids and you can wash them(I think...at least I do!) in the washing machine! Comfy!

We love PLAE shoes, this is the 3rd pair for our son and he loves them. The style and comfort is fantastic add to that the amazing Zappos service and is a premium experience, will keep buying.

This is our third pair of the exact same shoe for my son. They hold up so well that by the time he outgrows them, they're still in great shape. (And his feet grow remarkably slowly for a little kid, so these get a lot of use!) I pretty much plan to keep sizing up every time he needs a new pair. Why try to replace perfection?!

We are really impressed with Plae shoes for our kids, overall. This style with the mesh seems very durable and my five year old can do all the outdoor stuff he loves and they have held up to his activities very well. This is our 3rd pair for him and he loves the fun color combinations. My husband loves that they are AFO friendly. That being said, the pair we are replacing with these new ones were a bit of a disappointment. They had significantly more leather/suede (or a suede-like material) on the sides (they were a blue camo) and the inside areas just below the big toes started to rip along the seam very quickly. Since it didn't happen with the 1st pair I decided to try again with new ones that were closer to the ones we had originally purchased and loved. And, since he's five, I let him wear the ones with the compromised seams for quite a while. When I could finally see sock I knew it was time to replace them! The pair that ripped were purchased directly from Plae, not Zappos, and I regret buying from the company direct because I'm sure that Zappos would have stood by their product and resolved the issue. When I contacted Plae customer service I never heard back.

Measured my 4 yo foot, then went half-whole size up for room to grow, but when we got them, they fit perfectly, so we we exchanged them for half size larger for room to grow. Zappos made this easy. He loves them. They are healthy for his feet, stylish and meet Preschool requirements. Very happy, we got some last year and the held up well enough to save for his younger brother.

We bought these shoes to be the rugged, daily sneakers for our three year old and they have been great. The easy outside color coded velcro (yellow and green) make it possible for him to put them on himself and the extra velcro on the tongue of the show makes it stay up and not slide down when he is wearing them. They are flexible, but sturdy shoes. They are not waterproof however, so when he trekked through wet grass when he was wearing them he did complain that his socks got a little damp. However, I highly recommend these shoes as they have worn incredibly well and have simplified the sock/shoe departure process every day. I would definitely buy them again. They do run true to size, we ordered a 9 and felt that they were on point for that size.

This is the third pair I have bought from Zappos. I could not be happier. Plae is a fantastic brand. I wish Zappos sold plae’s whole line. I can say that the navy does not hold pigment as well as the grey. It shows a little more fading over time. Plae dose say this is expected. As for play ability they are fanatic. My son climbs and plays better than most kids at the park because of the better grip.

My son loves the shoes and he said the feel good. He’s 5 and rough on shoes but these have held up to daily wear and tear at school. The only frustrating thing is the straps come out sometimes and the fuzzy part of the Velcro has worn out halfway through the school year. Plae does have an option to purchase new straps but unfortunately I can’t find ones that match the pair we bought. Great shoe overall though!

We've had a few pairs of Plae shoes and`they are super sturdy and hold up well on my kids. They have a great an unique look and are easy on and off, a plus with kiddos!

I wish I liked these more than I do. We have the Moonwalk Black this season and the gray material is stretching out terribly. This is about our 4th pair of Plae shoes. I said after the last pair I'd never buy another, and I did. Mistake. Cute shoes. Overrated.

I hate these shoes. I bought two pair for my preschooler directly from the Plae website. The first pair, my son wore out. But they drove me nuts because the top strap was constantly coming undone and he was constantly bending over to fix it (as in every 10 feet). It seemed to get worse as they got older, so I tried another pair. This time, at Plae's suggestion, I bought a set of longer straps so it would be easier for him to close securely, but it didn't help at all. Even just walking around our apartment to try them out, he was bending over to re-do the strap every 3 minutes. We sent that pair back. I am not sure if it is the shape of my son's feet (they are not wide horizontally but he has a high instep), that the hook and loop closure is not strong enough, or the design of the shoe is just bad, but these did not work for us at all.

The top strap on this particular shoe does NOT stay attached. We’ve had the suede version in the past and this was not an issue. The company recommended a large or extra large strap (you can buy separately) but this particular shoe seems to have a strap that is too short. I have a few friends who have purchased the same shoe and had the exact same issue. I would not recommend this particular version although PLAE shoes in general are awesome.
