I have numerous pairs of Sam Edelman Loraine loafers. These are nice shoes with a touch of preppy and a little bit of funky. The grade of leathers used varies per shoe color. The nude, light pink, silver, and blush gold appear to be lambskin or something similar that is very delicate and easily torn. On the first day I wore my silver pair, I managed to rip the top layer off the left toe by accidentally bumping it against the wheel of a shopping cart. I nearly cried, as these shoes weren't exactly inexpensive. (So beware when getting these colors!) The leather used on the black, navy, red, and deep red appears to be a little thicker and can handle being bumped against a shopping cart wheel. The saddle tan color appears to be even thicker leather, and I found that pair to be very stiff, even after numerous wearings. I have three leopard colors. They are all calf hair leather and can handle bumps and bruises without showing any marks. The snake colors are also a thicker material, which, so far, have managed to survive regular wear. Regarding size: The length is slightly longer than normal size, offering extra wiggle room. Some folks recommend sizing down a half step. I tried that with my first pair. Sizing down might work for some, but if you have a high instep, like I do, you will find that ordering a half size smaller makes the shoe difficult to put on. I normally wear a 9 but ordered a velvet pair in an 8.5. It felt snug, but not uncomfortably snug. I just found it hard to initially put on because of my high instep. I ordered a leopard pair in an 8.5, and it fit fine. I also ordered a snake pair in an 8.5, and I couldn't get my foot in past the instep. So I think the fit varies depending on the material used. I'd recommend trying different sizes to see what works best for you.

Classic-look loafer with very nice, soft leather that has a little bit of give and should conform to foot a bit. I am size 7-1/2 or 8, tried both and kept the 8. Although 8 had a bit of room in length, I needed the 8 for bunion width and comfort. The instep (top) is quite tight on the foot, making the shoe hard to get on, larger size was a bit easier. The 7-1/2 looked a little prissy on my foot while the 8 looked more menswear. The half size really did make a difference. If you are between sizes with slender, narrow feet, 1/2 size down may make sense.

These are Beautiful Loafers and they are so comfortable I feel like I’m gliding when I wear them. I ordered these in a size 8 I usually wear a size 8.5-9 in shoes. I would suggest going a half size down if you don’t intend on wearing them with socks.

I think these Sam Edelman loafers are buttery soft and I had to go down half a size. I am a true size 7 but 6 1/2 fit spot on!! The light beige leather are amazing and will go with so much !!

Beautiful, classic loafer. I had to order a half-size down, like so many other reviewers. If your feet are in between "narrow" and "medium," then you will love the slim fit of the medium. Since these are classic shoes, it helps to follow the classic methods for putting them on. Yes, they might feel snug and a little hard to get on, so use a shoehorn to slip your heel in. Once you get them properly on, they feel wonderful, like a glove, but not tight. I love not having my heel bounce in and out of a shoe all day, and not having my foot slosh from side to side. In addition to using a shoehorn, I suggest buying a pair of cedar shoe trees (with the spring heel) to slide into your loafers once you take them off. Storing them like that will help reduce whatever creases may develop across the top of the shoe when your foot flexes in them all day. The shoe trees are available on Amazon and can be used in most of your other shoes too. These are really nice loafers - take nice care of them and you will be able to wear them for a long time!

I don't write reviews often but wanted to here to confirm 1) you should order a half size smaller and 2) these are a wonderful shoe! I have been searching for the perfect tan loafer for years, and I've finally found them! I am usually always a size 9.5 but ordered a 9 based on the advice of other reviewers. I was nervous to do so, but the 9 has worked out perfectly. That said, feet are normal to maybe even slightly narrow width, so if your feet are wide, I can't speak to whether sizing down is still a good idea. My shoes are slightly difficult to get on, but once on, they fit like a perfectly conformed glove rather than something overly tight or painful. They are comfortable, though the sole is thin and I wouldn't wear them to walk around all day. Real life color is true to the website image.

First, I have seen a lot of the street style pics of ultra chic "it" girls wearing a pair of Gucci bit loafers. I thought while trendy they have a timeless quality about them that I like, so I set out get a pair until I saw the price tag... over 600 dollars! I just could bring my self to spend that kind of money on a pair of loafers. I kind of stumble across theses by Sam Edelman and thought I can get the same look at a fraction of the price. These fit, at least for me, TTS in length and width, I find them to be quite comfortable despite the fact there is minimal padding in the foot bed. I took one star off simply because they are not the coveted Gucci loafers. I took what I would have spent on the Gucci pair minus what I spent on these and invested it. That's what I call a win win situation.

I followed another reviewer who indicated her size was 7.5 to 8 with a wide foot, but ordered a size 7W, so I did the same! The shoe fit PERFECTLY and was super comfortable out of the box! Worn to work the next day and already feels broken in.

Perfect loafer! Bought these instead of the designer pair that I have been eyeing, and I'm so glad I went with these instead! They look great and the quality is great too -- the leather is super soft. Save your money, buy these!!

Another review suggested to get half size smaller, I totally disagree. If you have a high arch, smaller is not going to fit.

I wear 7.5 to 8 for regular shoes (not athletic shoes) and ordered the 8. I kept them but debated on ordering the 7.5 to check the fit. There is definitely room length-wise but they don't slip off my foot (at least not yet). I've worn these a few times and they look great. Very chic with jeans and on-trend. Bought the light tan color and love the elevated style similar to Gucci, but a fraction of the cost. I would suggest trying these if you're on the fence.
I'd also recommend:
Dolce Vita, Vince Camuto, Ugg, Frye

I love these shoes! They’ve become my go-to work shoes. I wear them with pants and skirts and find they look good with both. They’re also absurdly comfortable- good padding on the bottom and the leather is soft and flexible. No blisters on my heels from day one (which never happens to me).

I am transitioning from heels to flats due to bad knees that are unstable. I was skeptical since most flats gap open on the sides when I walk. To my surprise, these did not. The buttery soft glove leather fits like a glove. With bare feet, I struggled to get them on initially, but with a trouser stocking they felt fantastic and slid on with ease. I wore them all day and not one bit of soreness. They were absolutely stunning with my slacks. I'm a size 11, medium width and they were true to size and did not need to be broken in. I plan on getting the black, red, and pink. For about $600ish more, you can get the Gucci Jordan loafers with leather soles, but why?

Love the shoe. The leather is very soft. I will buy it again in a different color. After wearing them all day, in perfect comfort, I would suggest to down size half a size. They are a little bit longer than desired. Overall a very elegant loafer, I purchased the black patent and it compliments both trousers and jeans.

Lovely shoes, look amazing, and supple leather so they're comfortable. But listen to other reviewers: these run a half size too large. I'm a perfect 10.5 and was so happy they had my size – only to discover I need a 10 in these. Sending them back for the smaller size. Don't make the same mistake!

First, my own size fluctuates between 7.5 and 8, depending on the brand and particular shoe. I also fluctuate between medium and wide width (ball of foot is wide, not heel), depending on the particular shoe. I ordered these in 8W and they were very long for me. I am waiting for a reorder in 7.5W. Other than fit, the shoes are lovely and seem like they will be quite comfortable considering they are loafers and not sneakers.

I love them! This is my fourth pair in this style (different color), and I was so excited to find them in a nice dark green. I tried to capture the color in the photo because I wasn’t sure exactly what kind of green they were when I bought them.

I had been looking for a gold-bit loafer that was at a price I could afford, and this style does not disappoint! It's a really good alternative to the $700 Gucci Jordan loafer. I was a bit concerned that they might be a bad fit when I first tried them on--I wear a 10 Wide and had purchased sandals from this brand. The instep is tight, and the shoe did not just slip on. But after setting the shoe flat on the floor, wiggling my toes all the way in, and then pulling the heel up it did go on. They are a perfect fit, and really, really comfortable. So happy with this purchase, and I will be buying one more color.

I bought these Sam Edelman Loraine loafers in the sand leopard. They are AMAZING. I have been buying and returning leopard print flats for probably 2 years now looking for a great looking pair that fit and feel good. FOUND THEM! The animal hair color is perfect, and the loafer very comfortable. The leather is soft around the heel which is a FIRST for all the leopard print shoes I've tried on. They are normally so stiff and uncomfortable. I got a size 5.5 and they are true to size. So glad my search is over. Thank you Sam Edelman!

As with everyone else, these are a great substitute for the Gucci bit loafers at a much more reasonable price. Not only do these shoes look good, but they’re comfortable too. While I ordered them in primrose, they’re a nice neutral that pairs with slacks to skinny jeans. I find the insole to have a nice cushion in the heel. The shoes are rather narrow, but not so much so that you should be concerned if you normally wear a “medium” width.

The most gorgeous loafers. I have three pairs and I love them all! Perfect for an office woman that wants to be fashionable and classy. These are such a great price for the quality
