It's been difficult for me to find the right fit in Dr. Martens for quite some time. I always seemed to fall between sizes and got stuck with something too small or too big. I'd had my eye on these since last fall, but was so reluctant to give them a try because of the sizing issues. I finally bit the bullet because I just loved the look and style of these so much and I'm so glad I did! These were comfortable in my regular shoe size (women's 9) from the moment I pulled them out of the box. I knew I was taking a huge chance, but the first time I wore them I was on my feet for 5+ hours at a show. They were awesome! These did not require the break-in time I've been accustomed to with Dr. Martens. The leather was already soft, but it's just gotten softer over time. I want to note that I do wear these with plantar faciitis inserts. Even with the inserts, I'm still able to wear the boots comfortably with thick or thin socks. I love them so much that I'm tempted to purchase a second pair and put them away for when I wear these ones out! If you're on the fence about getting these like I was, go for it. You won't be sorry.

Love these! No complaints. Zero break-in time-- were comfy out of the box. I've worn with jeans and also w/ tights and dress and it looks cute both ways. Also I have to wear custom orthotic inserts for plantar fasciitis and they fit in these boots w/ no problem.

I ordered these as well as the original non-zip 2976. I ordered both in UK size 7 (US women's 9). First, I want to note that these seem to run a whole size smaller than the original 2976. These definitely feel like a woman's boot while the original 2976 feels like a unisex/men's boot. I didn't find the shaft as impossibly narrow on these as some other reviewers have mentioned. I was able to zip them up with room for a bulky sock or skinny jeans. I do have a slightly narrow foot, though, and even with arch support insoles, the whole shoe was still too loose for me. I definitely need something with laces for a more adjustable fit.

I love Docs, and more and more I do not love lace-ups. The dual zippers on this boot mean they are super easy to get off and on. Since I currently have plantar fasciitis, and I'm using low profile inserts, these boots are my favs. I wear Smart Wool or Darn Tough socks with them, thick or thin - it doesn't affect the comfort, and wear them with any kind of pant in any kind of weather. Granted I live in LA but I live where it's sandy and where is floods in the winter. If I were a skirt-wearer, I wouldn't hesitate to wear them with skirts. They are that versatile.

For all of you between-sizers... I wear an 8.5US (sometimes even a 9, but never an 8) and didn’t know which way to go when ordering these boots, sized up or down. I ended up trying both and FYI, the 7UK (9US) was wayyyyy too big everywhere except maybe the ankle. The 6UK (8US) is *perfect* in the toe box and width. As others have stated, the ankle is snug, even uncomfortably (but not painfully) so, but I’m wearing them around the house with thin bobby socks and feel certain they’ll loosen up adequately. Only caveat: if you live in a cold climate and intend to wear really thick socks with these, you may want the roomier boots. I’m in AZ and will be keeping them on the thin side. I LOVE THESE BOOTS!

Pretty much no break in time. Wore them right out of the box on a full day of teaching. They were not heavy, had the right amount of room, and I did not find the ankle to be too tight.

I was concerned that the circumference of the ankle wouldn’t be wide enough but after taking careful measurements, I decided to pull the trigger. I’m glad I did because they zipped just right around my ankle. The size nine is a little too roomy for my size 8.5 feet but all in all, I’m happy with my purchase

I usually wear a 9.5. I purchased a 9 and I still had some space. No need to order a size up. Great shoe, the zippers make them really easy to take on and off.

Overall, I love these boots. I agree that the ankle is very tight. I originally tried my normal boot size, a 7, and they were too large in the foot bed but just right in the ankle. I returned those for a 6. So I think if you need to size down, expect the ankle to be tighter than normal.

These 2976 with zips look more feminine and sleeker than the regular 2976 boots, which looked wider and bulky. I usually wear a 6 or 6.5, and these fit great ! Not too tight or loose around the toes. These are very light weight and quite comfy. But they are too tight around the calf if zipped up all the way or with pants tucked inside the boot. I don’t have huge calves at all BTW. However, there are zippers on both sides, so I like to have one zipper half way down for more comfort. Also if you don’t want the leather chaffing your skin, wear calf socks.

These are boots are super comfortable. I am a size 8-8.5. I bought a 9 and an 8. The 9’s had a little room but the 8’s are a little snug. I ended up keeping the 9’s. I put an insole in so it was not so roomy, but you don’t need one. They are very comfy from the moment you put them on. I hope this helps.

These are so comfortable with no break-in period. I originally got my recommended size (women’s 8) but they were really loose, especially around the ankle, so I exchanged for a 7 and they’re perfect. My legs are slim so I still have some room, but not so much that it looks like a strange gap (which most zip boots leave on me). I wear these to work all day and they’re just as comfy 8 hours later as they are when I first put them on. I’m so glad I chose them.

I bought these after trying to wear a similar pair of uncomfortable Blundstone's for a year. The difference is amazing. These were instantly comfortable. The Blundstone's never wear even after a year of breaking them in. No comparison.

Returned. I love this boot with one exception.. the ankle is too tight. I must have larger ankles than most because I don't have a weight problem. When these boots were zipped up they were so tight and uncomfortable.

I did not have the chance to wear these boots outsides, yet. I did wear them indoors for a relatively long time and they are very comfortable. The leather is soft, the sole is bouncy, and the two zippers make the on/off very easy. The sizing is true to other doc Martens shoes. I wear a US size 8 and always purchase doc Martens in UK size 6. Although this is not a problem for me, I can see why some reviewers comment on the opening of the boot being too small around the ankle. I hope that these double zipper boots will make traveling through airport security checks easier.

Great fit, comfy, and cute. I have gotten multiple compliments when out wearing these, and they've stood up to heavy use. There is little to no arch support but that's typical for docs - I just bought some insoles to put in which help. I have wide feet and pretty big ankles; I sized up and these fit great.

These boots are super cute and very comfortable. I wear an 8.5 so with Docs not being available in half sizes, I was confused on which size to purchase. I ended up ordering an 8 and a 9 so I could compare. I really like to have room in my boots to wear thick socks, so ultimately I decided to keep the 9. Because they are roomy I had no break in time with them and I was able to add an arch support for extra cushion, although one is not necessary, they are very comfy boots. I hope this helps anyone who is trying to decide.

Love these Docs! I am normally a 7 to 71/2. After reading other reviews I ordered a 7 and they are perfect. Comfortable from the first time I put them on. Only problem is my 22 year old daughter wants to steal them from me.

Love these boots. Great Chelsea boot with zipper option. Gives good support and traction. Great with jeans and work pants

My ankles are scrawny, so I didn’t think the fit was small. And the rest of them fit perfectly. LOVE these boots, so happy

I found these boots being more comfortable that I expected them to be. Leather seem to be of high quality, the sole is supportive but not too firm. The boots are not too narrow around my ankles (I think I have average sized ankles).

These boots are TTS and very comfortable from the start. I wore these for the first time to a concert and danced the whole time. I got many compliments and felt great in them. I am a size 9 and ordered them in a women's 9. Buy them! You wont regret it!

I wound up returning these for Blundstone boots but I wish I hadn’t! I returned them because they were difficult to bend down it, and generally stiff but I think they would have softened up. I have large feet so they looked slight Frankenstein-ish but my husband thought they looked great. The side zipper makes them really easy to get on and off. The leather was nice quality and thick.

Love the boots...just a bit tight at ankle/lower thigh... but getting better with wear. Socks have to be a bit below the top, or have to leave a bit unzipped.

I've always loved Docs and these are no exception. I usually wear a 7 but these felt a size bigger. Some inserts fixed that. The zippers sometimes fall but never more than about 1/4 inch. I over them and wear them every day.
