I love the look, feel and comfort of these boots, as well as their made-in-USA heritage. Unfortunately after six weeks of wear, the stitching holding the sole to the boot wore out and the sole began to split. Meaning after six weeks, a $360 pair of boots needed a $100 repair. I contacted Wolverine, and they don't offer any sort of repair or warranty, even if I were to pay for it, and tried to send me back to Zappos to handle it. Well Zappos have a customer for life because they are taking back the boots even though it should really be up to Wolverine to fix. I did some research online and found that this is a known issue with Wolverine. Until they either offer some sort of repair program and improve the durability of the soles, I would not recommend. As a great alternative, take a look at Red Wing Heritage's Iron Ranger.

I bought the silver color in my usual size 9. They felt tight at first but are fine after about 4 days of wear. I love them! Easy to lace up, look great, and I've had several compliments already. Make this 60-year-old feel stylish :-)

I've had these shoes for about 3 weeks and I love them so far, though I don't think I'll be able to decide if they were worth the price before I wear them for at least a year.

I usually take a women's size 9 and have a narrow to medium foot. I have plantar fascitis, so need a shoe with excellent support or one which will accommodate a good insert. Often I will go up a half sized if I need the insert. These have zero support and when I put the insert in they were too tight through the instep where the seam is under the laces. Going up a half size did not help as still tight across the top of the instep. I finally ordered the men's 7.5 and these were a perfect fit with the full insert. This is a beautiful boot, and seemingly well made. I did end up returning them though as the men's were not on sale and couldn't justify the price for a boot that I can only wear in limited conditions. The leather sole and suede mean can't wear in wet, and lightweight so not in winter. That rules out much of the time here in VT. Might have kept them if they were on sale like the women's, or if they had a lug sole.

I didn't believe they would be too big on my size 11 feet but they were. They didn't have a 10 in the color I wanted and apparently don't make a 10.5 so I used insoles. They fit fine with the insoles.

I adore these shoes so much that upon realizing I'd been wearing the wrong size for a year, I repurchased them despite the pricetag. They will last you a lifetime if properly cared for. The breaking in period is a bit labored, but worth it. Can be waterproofed but without some help I wouldn't risk too much moisture. The sole is a bit slick, so maybe not the best in icy situations. Otherwise, a great boot for many seasons, scenarios and outfits. Look good with jeans and dresses in a variety of grains.

These boots are awesome! They are a leather bottom insole so they are stiff, but when they wear-in they’ll be your favorite boot. So versatile and reliable. I’ll buy these boots over and over forever.

Order a whole size down from your normal shoe size. Boots run slightly narrow. Excellent quality, beautiful boot.

These are most well made, comfortable, and classic boots I've ever purchased. They are truly worth every penny. They do run about a half size large as the other reviews stated so I selected a half size smaller and they fit like a glove. Top off the excellence with they're made in the USA.

These boots are well worth the money. And like any good investment these boots will only get better with time. Be prepared to be stopped all the time by people asking you "Hey I like your boots - what kind are they?" I got a whole size smaller than my typical shoe size.

The best! I wear a 10, ordered a 9.5, fit perfectly (read other reviews). Stiff, but after a couple of wears, seem to be breaking in nicely. Best part? Made in USA!!

If you are looking for a quality, dapper, Made-in-the-USA boot to complete your look, you have found it. Think the Birkenstock of your fall and winter wardrobe: forms to fit your feet exactly for incredible comfort and durability. A word on sizing: size down 1/2 a size, even though they will feel tight at first. These boots stretch out as they break in. I tried both my regular size and 1/2 size down. When I first tried them on, the 1/2 size down felt too small and my regular size felt right. After two days of walking around in my regular size, they stretched out and became unwearable. For reference, I am an 8.5 in Frye Harness, Engineer and Melissa, and a size 8 in Wolverines. These boots are amazing, fabulous, stylish, and will work great with any tomboys fall outfit. They're the exact style and price of the mens version, but made to fit a womans foot. A rare find! You'll love them!

Love this boot, saw on another site but bought from Zappos due to their great return/easy exchanges. I have been wearing these daily. My other favorite boots are Fryes and these seem to run similar in sizing; I am 9.5 in most shoes boots but 9.0 in most Fryes and 9.0 in these Wolverines fit perfectly. Not chunky, very comfortable. Not a fan of laces but these are easy. Went for the black, not quite the combat look, more urban/sophisticated. Highly recommend.

Great boots! Timeless design and A+ quality! Sooooo comfortable! Runs 1/2 to 1 size big depending on how narrow your foot is. Perfect to wear with a chunky sweater and skinnies.

Gold Leather, is really gold. As in metallic...the pictures don't really show shiny, metallic coloring. I was hoping for more of a distressed camel color. So, I will exchange for a different color and half size smaller. I do like the style of the boots regardless.

Such a shame. The style of these boots is top-notch. I was looking for boots that authentically looked like they were from 1914-ish, and these fit the bill. But, as a size 5, I was disappointed to discover that the reviews are right; these run large, and there's no size smaller than 5/what's probably a 36. I do wish $300+ boots like Wolverine's were also offered in women's size 35 (which is a true 5). Guess I'll try Red Wings. On the upside, an hour after dropping these off at UPS Zappos had received them and refunded my money. That's some speed.

I'm sending them back, as I do not agree with the hint to order a half size smaller. I have a size 7, 4.5 UK, 37 Euro, slenderish foot and Cole Haan, Nike, Rag and Bone, Old Gringo, Merrill, Kennel, Think, and Mephisto all fit my feet nicely at size 7, 4.5, 37. But the 6.5 in these Wolverine 1000 Mile boots is too short for me. I have long toes so maybe that's the problem. But I'm a true 7 and the 6.5 was too short, as my toes hit the top inner sides. They look smart and are well made - but just not for me.

I REALLY wanted to love these shoes, but the quality was off. I wear 8.5 and 9 depending on the brand, so I tried an 8.5 first. It was way too big so I exchanged it for 8.0. When it arrived I would say it fit perfectly/slightly loose. I would probably try a 7.5 because it is recommended to have a snug fit since the leather will loosen. However, on this second pair the left shoe had a narrower sole. The stitching was right on the edge of the sole, and on the right shoe there was space between the stitching and the edge. It was very noticeable. Also the leather seemed to be splitting by the tongue. Due to this poor quality control alone I decided to give up on these shoes. I have much higher expectations for quality at this price.

I have small feet and I waited a long time for the 5.5 to be in stock (and to be financially capable of affording these). Unfortunately, like many others have said, these are a full size too large. What a shame! It's such a beautiful shoe, totally my style, and would have lasted for years and years. Unfortunately, there is no 4.5 and I won't find out. Get it together Wolverine... I get that you cater primarily to men, but this feels like such an obvious flaw that the sizing is so off. And for a product that has potential to be popular among women who love great quality boots. Such a shame
