This is simply the best all around minimal trainer, runner or trail shoe. I've been wearing these for years since the first iteration of the minimus trail and suffered through the v2, v3 until they brought back the original. I'm guessing if they brought back the original, I must not have been the only person to email NB asking them to bring it back. This last purchase has to be close to my 20th pair. This shoe works great with socks or barefoot, is great for hiking, training, running or anything else. I wear it daily for crossfit, have run numerous 3k, 5k and 10ks in them. Have also hiked with them in a multitude of terrains, basically it works for anything. It is not 0 drop but instead 4mm heal toe drop and I actually think that's better for running and hiking given the thinness of the sole. 0 drop with a super thin sole doesn't work all that well on asphalt or concrete when running on a steep decline. It's very hard to land on you mid or forefoot running downhill and therefore a tiny bit of additional heal padding goes a long way. Hopefully this model is now here to stay for good!

Minimus 10v1 is great shoe. I kind of given up on running because regardless of the brand of running shoe I bought, I would end up with some kind of injury, usually my ankle and knee. And one day I discovered barefoot running which led minimalist shoes. I found the idea intriguing because it simply attributed injuries to regular running shoes which have a lot of cushion preventing me from feeling the ground accurately and promoting bad posture leading to injury. The Minimus 10v1 revitalized my love of running and so far no injuries whatsoever! I was able to run 3miles in 22min and 45 sec. I quite love this shoe. Now, the size runs under almost a whole size. I usually wear 10.5 but had to return and reorder in 11.5 and it fits perfectly. Of course, the icing on the top is buying from Zappos!! These guys are amazing and it’s quite possible that I won’t buy shoes from anywhere else! Thanks Zappos.

I have been buying the 990 and found that the same size in Minimus Trail 10v1 works perfectly. The fit and support is obviously different. I like the snug rubberband across the lower metatarsal section which is not too tight for the size and leanness of my foot. If you have a less than lean foot sizing would need some experimentation. Shoes are perfect for those looking for a near barefoot experience and connection to ground. Heel has slight cup in sole keeping plantar fascia ligament in check for me. This is a awesome barefoot shoe for trail and gym.

These are great low pro shoes that can take a beating. They can last a good 2 years if you take care of them. They are comfortable and low profile and look awesome.

Excellent shoes. Great balance between complete barefoot running (five fingers) and traditional ones. Very happy with them.

I have been buying this style shoes for a long time and they are my husband's and my favorite gym shoes. We use them for lifting, short runs, and hiking smooth trails. My son is now able to wear adult sizes and he also loves these shoes. So much that this is his second pair and that's what he asked for as a birthday present. We will continue to buy these shoes as long as they are made.

I'm on my fifth pair of the NB Minimus 10v1. I love them. I use them primarily for power walking/exercise 60-70 miles/week. The "minimus" style does work your calf muscles a little differently than traditional running/walking shoes so be aware at first and ease into them. They do run a whole size small. The first two pair I purchased I bought I purchased my normal size, and then later got a pair that was too small, I thought that pair was a fluke and was nervous to order a size up as the reviewers were suggesting. I went ahead and did it and am so happy I did. Plenty of room in the toebox. I also read a review from wayback when the Minimus 10v1 was first introduced on a runner's website or runner's forum or some such from a person who reviewed shoes as a job and one of the takeaways I got from that was he went sockless in these shoes. He mentioned the softness of the lining and padding in the shoes and I thought, "you know, he's right!" That day, I went without my socks and the shoes were even better without socks. I know, I was afraid of going sockless and what that might ....ummm.... smell like after a couple days. Honestly no different than with socks.

I purchased 2 pair of NB Minimus shoes for my 86 1/2 yo dad. He goes walking at least twice a day and LOVES these shoes. This is the second year I've gotten him two pair. He wears them until the soles are destroyed. He raves about how comfortable they are and he gets lots of compliments on how stylish they look. He loves the bright yellow and would love it if they came in a lot more colors (especially purple & gold for his beloved LSU Tigers!)

I am an intermediate runner with about 600 miles of outdoor track/trail (mostly trail) in various conditions. I don't do marathons or long-distance runs, mainly just general workouts between 2-3 miles that I can fit into my lunch hour. I got over 300 miles from my last pair of MT10's and this summer I started to notice the rocks/gravel a lot more, so I bought a new pair. What a difference - these feel great to lace up, the soles of my feet feel pretty much invincible, and I feel a noticeable improvement in traction (I'm sure my other pair was the same when I first got them but lately...). I would never run in anything other than this shoe, and actually saved my old pair just for yard work and such, as they are still really comfortable when not running over rocky terrain. As for the size I wear anything from 11 in Chuck Taylors, to 11.5 in Vans and Fryes, and I wear a 12 Minimus, so these run a bit small. I also have wide feet and actually tore the mesh on my last pair at the bottom eyelet because I was lacing them too tight, so I was careful not to do that with this pair. Size up especially if you have wider feet and they will fit perfect. Great minimal running shoe.

These are probably the best shoes I've owned. I actually use them for road running, not trail running, and I like the extra traction they have. But they are also the most comfortable shoes I've ever owned - I pretty much wear them all the time now, even when walking! I normally wear a size 10.5, but I bought a size 11 to have some extra room for running.

This shoe is snug where it's needed (heel and arch) with plenty of room in the toes. If you love to run technical, single track trails, this shoe cannot be beat. It runs about a 1/2 size smaller than other NB shoes. It's also a great shoe for casual wear if you prefer minimal shoes.

When I ran frequently, these were my go-to shoe. Miles went by easily, and I am sure my knees and back lasted longer than they should have, thanks to the good form encouraged by New Balance Minimus shoes. I now run only a few times a year, but wear these exclusively for my regular trail walks and weight-training. Plus, I travel a lot for work, and Minimus pack small, making it easy to haul a full workout kit along with a week's worth or work clothes. Love these shoes.

I use my minimus trail 10 to walk, run, hike & work as a martial art, yoga, meditative movement instructor. I find that the way the minimus holds my foot while allowing my toes to spread freely and my sole to interact with the ground protectively but not restrictively, is incomparable. Please continue to make this shoe. If you need a spokesperson, I am sincerely your man. I am 60 years old, have been teaching for over 40 of those years and am in excellent shape due in good part to the encouragement and appropriately minimal support of this product. I'd like to shake the hand of the designer(s) and say thank you!

Using at car track events and they have very good pedal feel. Not quite as good as real driving shoes, but a good inexpensive alternative.

Quite possibly the greatest running shoe of all time! Ok, short version...fantastic running shoe for those who crave ground connectivity - arguably best minimal shoe ever made (IMO) and I've owned just about every minimal running shoe on the market. For sure there are more minimal ("barefoot") shoes on the market, but these are a near perfect blend of ground connectivity, comfort, spacious (toe box), and DURABLE (the Achilles heel of most minimal shoes). As stated by a few other reviewers they do run about 1/2 size small. For reference, I normally wear 9.5 in most shoe running brands and a size 10 fits perfect (with enough remaining toe box room to cater to foot swell). If you are in the market for an extremely comfortable and highly durable minimal shoe, look no further, these are your unicorn!

I have owned Minimus Trail 10s for +8 years and this is my third pair. While the design of the shoe has changed slightly over the years, the quality of the shoe has only improved. This shoe is way better than the Merrelll Trail Glove, which is the only other competition for this shoe on the market. Here are my top 3 positives and my 1 negative: Positive #1) Diversity. This shoe is amazing for use on the land or on the water. The wide toe box and low ankle profile makes the shoe an excellent alternative to a stiff hiking boot, and the high quality vibram sole gives me confidence in the ability of the shoe to handle sandy and rocky terrain. On the water, one of the things I love most about the shoe is that the minimal and breatheable design makes it possible for this shoe to off-load water very easily and dry in a short period of time. The design also means that the shoe is able to dry out completely before it develops any type of stink. The other thing I love is that the pattern of the vibram sole gives me a confident grip while walking through streams and maneuvering in a canoe or kayak. Positive #2) Durability. I put these shoes through hell. Over the years New Balance has improved the stitching of the shoe to make it highly durable at all of the locations where normal wear and tear could impact the performance of the shoe. Positive #3) Weight. The combined weight for these shoes is ~1 lb. This shoe has been my go-to workout and hiking shoe for traveling, and it has also been my favorite camp shoe to bring while backpacking. Negative #1) One part of the newest design (Available during 2019) is that the tongue of the shoe is fixed along the full length of both sides. In the past, only one side was stitched and the stitched part was only about 1/2 the length of that side. I liked the past design because it made it a lot easier to slip a wet/muddy shoe on and off. With that said, its really not that big of an issue and it does not impact the shoe's performance.
