I just bought this shoe a week ago and have worn them on two 5 mile hikes on varied terrain (dirt, rock, turf, and asphalt). So far, so great -- no sign of blisters or other breaking in woes. They seem to have a bit more cushion in the foot bed than their predecessor, the Vasque 2.0, while also having improved laces (flat laces that don't constantly untie themselves like the 2.0). The new ones also have better lacing comfort - perhaps because of the new center lacing guide that sits just below the Vasque logo on the tongue (you can see this in my photo - the 3.0 is dark grey and teal with grey sole, my older 2.0's are beige and yellow with black sole). With my 2.0's I sometimes had to adjust and readjust the laces to deal with intermittent discomfort on the top of my foot. Those 2.0's were durable and had great waterproofing (the waterproof membrane looks the same in the 3.0). They lasted a LONG, long time - years; they actually still have some life left in them but the tread was starting to show signs of wear and with a big hiking trip coming up, I thought it would make sense to get some new hikers. I went to REI to browse, thinking I might decide to get something lighter, like a trail runner, but decided to stick with a sturdy shoe like the Vasque. REI does not carry this shoe, however. I tried on comparable low hikers from Merrell, KEEN, La Sportiva, Oboz, and, I think, Salomon. But after all that, I decided that I couldn't beat the fit and comfort of the Vasques. That's why I bought the 3.0's on Zappos. This shoe has a nice balance between cushion, weight, and structure - great shoe for extra-long day hikes! It has a roomy toe box and average to narrow heel (which works for my foot). Also, my right foot is a 7 and my left foot closer to a 6.5 and the 7.5 in the Vasque fits both feet just fine whereas with some of the other brands, either my heel was slipping out on my left foot if I sized up or the toes were crowded on my right foot if I sized down.

As a recent retiree I have the opportunity of expanding my love for walking to actual hiking on trails that require a hiking shoe. I live in an area where the choices of boots to try on in a box store are quite limited with nothing that seemed to work well for me. I proceeded to order multiple brands in multiple sizes from Zappos. This is only possible because of their great service including free shipping and returns. Having had no experience whatsoever with hiking footwear it was hard to know what would feel right on a rocky, steep trail. I ultimately chose the Vasque Breeze III low top. I could not find a mid or high top that did not hurt my ankle bones. The Vasque III is very comfortable out of the box. I was most relieved when I finally committed to wearing them on a real trail and they continued to be very comfortable. The most striking feature of the Vasque is how well balanced I feel in them which improves my confidence as I tackle the more intermediate and advanced trails. Also no blisters, ankle pain or foot pain. I have always preferred a shoe with a very flexible sole and ultra light weight so this category of footwear was new to me. Thanks again to Zappos for allowing me to bring the shoe store home instead of traveling 100+ miles to the nearest REI. Happy feet! Happy trails!

This shoe is very handsome but felt really short for the size. It had good support and felt protective.

I had to buy new hiking shoes to replace by beloved Montrails before a hiking trip through South America, including Patagonia and the desert. I like low shoes but even some shoes advertised as "low" still rub up against the ankle (I tried the Oboz low and they were not low enough). Not these. They fit perfectly and required no break-in (I did wear them to the gym a few times before the trip). I never had a blister or any rubbing on my feet. They are water proof but since they are low they obviously will not keep out water if your foot goes into a stream, but they do dry quickly. I wear an 8.5 or sometimes a 9 in regular shoes; i sized up to a 9.5 for hiking so my toes wouldn't get jammed on the downhills, and that worked perfectly (a 9 also fit but for hiking I always size up). They are lightweight but do look a little bulky; on the plus side, they have a substantial enough sole and body to handle rough and rocky trails. I thought the arch support was good but I don't need any additional arch support.

Like Cinderella, I’ve been trying low hiking shoes in preparation for a trip. In this same period, I also tried the Vasque Mantra (both non- and waterproof) and the Keen Voyageur. All are well made shoes. This one however, was lightweight, waterproof, flexible and the right combination of arch support. The inserts can be removed and replaced with other orthotics however I didn’t need them. Highly recommend.

Had these for some incredible hiking opportunities in Europe, US & Canada, all types of wet & sloggy situations. Truly waterproof, no blisters, perfect for someone w bunions.

I have problem feet and need a firm base with a bit of a roll to it. The base and fit of these was perfect. I am normally a 8.5 and get a 9 in hiking shoes. However, the interior of the right shoe rubbed in a couple of places no matter how I laced the shoes. For that reason I am returning them. The boot version of this shoe is one of the most comfortable shoes I have so I was hopeful these would be great.

Lovely and well made but had to return because too wide. Vasque has a reputation for running narrow, and I have a pair of their hiking boots I like. But in my opinion these were wider than the average shoe, even in thick socks.

I have a very average foot in width and this boot fits perfectly. I usually wear an 8 or 8.5 and the 8.5 in this boot is perfect with medium weight hiking socks. It was comfy with just a little breaking in - after a week off long hikes, the shoes fit me like a sock. Love them! They are definitely water proof. Added bonus is they don’t look like huge boats on my feet as other hiking shoes I’ve had. Planning to buy a higher topped boot in this same brand.

This is a great pair of shoes. They are super comfortable right out of the box, pretty light but sturdy in a good way. The out-sole provides good traction and support. I would say I got what I pay for.

These are great hiking boots! I already had a pair with ankle support, but wanted a more lightweight pair. These are one of the few boots that don’t give me blisters. They are well made and waterproof, and if my experience with my other pair of these boots with ankle support is a good measure, they will last a long time. Highly recommended.

These feel comfortable with Thorlos light hiking socks. I have a high arch, narrow heel and replaced knees; this supportive hiking shoe, which adjusts to a snug fit with hefty laces, does the trick. The toe box is roomy but not too big. Overall there is good cushioning and a solid feel. I used to wear an 8 & 1/2 but got these in a 9. These are the ones I’ll take with me to Europe.

Shoe runs narrow but that works for me as I have a narrow foot. Shope is waterproof so a little stiff when wearing it however starting to loosen up as I’ve worn them around the house and walking the dog.

I LOVE these shoes. SO comfortable. In fact I just ordered a second pair in case these become unavailable when I’m ready to replace. I wear a 7 and often buy wide but this medium width is just right. I felt no binding anywhere and have been hiking 2-3 miles a day in them for a week with no chafing anywhere and no break in period needed. Vibram sole and Goretex are great for trails and beaches and rocks, but still lightweight and not so clunky that you can’t do an in-town sidewalk walk. I am very fussy about my walking shoes: they have to be perfect, and these are! I think they are cute too, not as industrial looking as Keen or Merrell but just as serviceable. Highly recommend.

I returned these shoes, because I had ordered another pair that I liked even more. I only wore these around the house to test. They are very comfortable and nice looking.

The Vasque Breeze is a good looking shoe with comfortable arch support. I had hoped it would work for me but it was slightly too short. I really need an 11.5 in athletic shoes, which most hiking shoe brands (including Vasque) do not make. Sadly they are going back.

I loved, loved this shoe on a recent trip to the Australian outback. Kept my feet stable, dry and comfortable all day. I found the grip on rocks and slippery climbs to be excellent. Comfy in sand as well. I also like to keep my shoes clean and these were easy to sponge down and get the red dirt off. In return home I have washed the shoes and laces and they came up really good. Thankyou for making a great show!!!

These were actually comfy, just a smidge stiff. I would have kept them but found a softer sturdy because I'm using them for work. Other than that these boots are good. Sturdy but not heavy or huge.

This is a comfortable low hiker. It doesn't have a Vibram sole, but the sole seemed sturdy. Unfortunately, the heel was too wide for my narrow foot. It kept slipping up and down, so I returned these.

I didn’t know until now that my right foot is longer than my left. The left shoe was comfortable but my toes were at the end of the shoe on my right foot and very cramped. I am returning them. Zappos is great! So accommodating and willing to help. I had my right foot reconstructed and have had nothing but problems since! I. Red a solid shoe on the sides to help hold up my right foot and arch and didn’t realize till now how important that is for me to be comfortable. I’m learning at the expense of Zappos! Thank you to all the employees of Zappos for your patience, guarantee that you take seriously and how easy it is to contact you and get the help that may be needed.

I am on a quest for the perfect pair of waterproof shoes to walk the dog and light trail hiking. This first thing I said when I took these out of the box was 'boy are these ugly.' Then I slipped them on and said 'oooh, but they're comfortable.' The styling actually grew on me - they are like a cross between a sneaker and a hiking shoe, so not as clunky as a Merrill - but in the end the soles just felt too stiff and the toe box was a little too small.

Tried these in a 9M and the toes of my left foot (which has a bunion) bump the outer edge of the shoe, even though the toebox is nice and roomy. The heels slip, too. I like the look, the GTX and the Vibram soles though.
