I recently bought a pair of Moab 2 Vent low cut hiking shoes. Loved my original Moab. With the Moab 2, the second top eyelet was removed, preventing the ability to tie a runner's knot. Ok, thicker socks and tighter lacing helped with hill slippage. But, the arch support in the right shoe is killing my foot. I'm beginning to wish I had not bought these shoes.

The regular wide is wider than normal. Shoes slip off somewhat easily. I've bought plenty of Merrell shoes over the years and these are the first I don't like.

Size was right, so was the fit. But it was hard as a rock in the heel. Walking very uncomfortable. Wore them around the house for 2 days but never got any better. Sadly had to return. Not every foot is for every shoe and vice versa.

I have worn Merrell shoes for almost fifteen years, and have worn Merrell Moab for at least the last seven or eight years. I have hiked many miles on Merrell Moab and on other shoes. They have been a go to general, all-around hiker in my house for a long time. They just did everything pretty well. That has changed. Even though I contacted Merrell about the changes, which they said were basically cosmetic and material, that is not true. It is an outright lie. The last and sizing are very different. The shoe is at least a half size larger. Moving down a half size will not likely give you the fit you need due to an oddly different way that the shoe rolls from heel to toe. The heel - toe movement is far different. You will feel like you are wearing high heels. It will not properly grip at the heel and then roll toward the toe. It has an odd movement. The arch is now in the wrong location. It does not matter what size you try. The arch is different. You will need to replace the footbed. The heel/ankle support is very different and less supportive. It will feel as if there is less cushioning in the front of the foot. Basically, I cannot afford to wear a shoe that will not give me the support and response I need. I walk and hike regularly. It breaks my heart that I will no longer be able to wear Merrell Moab, but this Moab 2 is not worthy of being called a general, all purpose hiker. It has changed.

These Moab 2 sized at 9EE are much larger than the pair of Yokota EE I have which are a little small. These do not cup my heel. Even if I tie these so tight they are painful and cut off blood flow my heels still lift. Never had this happen in a shoe like this. Really only suitable for sitting around rather than walking or hiking. Now I'm wishing I got a second pair of Yokotas (at 9.5EE) or maybe 8.5EE Moab 2 mid height.

I've had these less than 6 months and the exterior is cracking up. That is 6 months of limited use because of quarantine and I had knee surgery. I have year old Oboz holding up much better. Shoelaces don't even stay tied in a double knot... come on already, what year is this? Maybe they are okay in Moab slick rock, but I live on a gravel road - every time I go out the tread ends up with rocks stuck in it. Never had another pair of shoes do this. I only give it 2 stars because the support seems to be holding up well. The rest is a disaster.

On my fifth pair of these, and will probably be my last. The right shoe is comfortable and fits properly, left shoe feels like walking on a twisted board. I've had probably a dozen pair of merrells in last ten years and they are getting very inconsistent with quality. Will not be using for hiking or work or travel, but will make decent shoes for working in the yard.

This year's Moab again uses a material that is a velcro like magnet for debris. Cheat grass loves it and is a constant issue. Not a good solution. Previous year's shoes had a different material, coarser weave that still may be available in the all leather Moab that does not have this issue. Other than the liner the Moab continues to be a good shoe that performs as expected. I just wish they would go back to the old liner material. I'm giving it a 2 star rating because of the liner, rather than a 5 star.

I bought these base on reviews. I thought if I just kept wearing them they would break in. I just have them away after only about 80 hours of walking. They area heavy, stiff and unforgiving under the ball of your foot. They seemed to be sturdy and well put together but horrible for all day hikes. I am back to hiking in my Merrell trail runners. I hike in mountains and desserts with sometines very substantial elevation gains. 2000-4000 feet. These are just too much extra weight for all day walking and too uncomfortable for even a half day hike. Well made but not comfortable.

This is my first time purchasing Merrell Moab 2 Vent. I been wearing it for long walks for the past 4 days . The right foot is fine , but Unfortunately , on left foot the shoe is very tight at the toes . It is rubbing against my big toe. I was hoping it would soften after few days of walking ,,,so far no luck. If this continues , I don't think I will wear it anymore.

I wish I could give a favorable review as I love Merrells. Since they haven't answered my emails asking about a return. Maybe they will get back with me now. The boots are way larger than I expected. They were supposed a 12 W but I believe they are mislabeled. I compared them to another pair of Merrell size 12 and a pair of Oboz size 12. Both were at least a half size smaller than the Moab 2. I would like to exchange them but I have not heard from Merrell, yet. Maybe now.

The Moab-2 fits totally different than the original Moab ventilator. I have had four pairs of the original Moab's in 8.5W. The new version is a half size larger and the foot shape has changed making them much less comfortable for my foot. I am returning the Moab-2 and going back to the original if I can still find them. I also bought another pair of Merrell casual shoes that were also to large and had to exchange them for a half size down. Something has definitely changed in their sizing.

I will first say that the overall construction of the shoe is top notch but the padding in the footbed leaves a lot to be desired ! After only a couple of hours standing in them it felt as if I were standing directly on the concrete barefoot, my house shoes have more padding. I would suggest to any other buyers that you invest in a secondary insole for added padding and comfortably.

These shoes simply do not give me good traction - especially in the toes - on even slightly wet surfaces. Since most of the areas where I hike get frequent rain this is a huge problem. Wouldn't buy them again.

The first time I bought a pair of Merrell shoes, I almost cried because it was the first time in my life I got a pair of shoes to fit my feet correctly. It was like I was walking on air. Years and many miles later, when it was time to purchase a new pair, I was severely disappointed. The wide fit shoes didn't feel wide fit and the insoles hurt my feet. Tried a new pair of insoles in hopes it would help, it did not. I've gone back to my old pair of shoes, while I look for another brand, because the new shoes hurt my feet. Will definitely be looking elsewhere for wide fit shoes.

I have owned Moabs 2 for the longest time as they are the best fitting model for me, but I noticed that the last couple of pairs didn't last as long as before. My last pair was given to me for the holidays and now it has developed a very annoying squeak (very loud) on my right heel that really prevents me from using them. It's a shame because they are barely used and it can't be due abuse.

have owned two pair of these. love the wide width- they are very comfortable right out of the box, but at six months the soles were gone on the first pair and at about six months the soles were very worn on the second pair and ] came unglued from uppers[ the leather part]. i use these as my daily all around shoes, no strenuous hiking. maybe this is considered normal life, but it's time to check out the competition

I have bought Merrell shoes for years, at least a dozen pairs or more, and because they were a very good shoe, I had not had to buy much in the last 2 years. However, now with a few pairs aging, I ordered first the Moab Waterproof in a Wide width, same size as always, same shoe as always...at least that's what I thought. The toe box is different, the way the sole bends is different. I exchanged for a different pair, same issues. So I just returned them. Because I own both, the waterproof and non versions, I thought maybe, just maybe the normal version might be different. Not so! I sat down and compared these to the older style and noticed the way they are put together on the insides of the feet, about mid way above the arch they now seam the side material in a way that has a hard protrusion, the left was different than the right in feel and they walk very different. I so which manufacturers would leave a good product alone. Sorry...I think you may have lost me as a devoted customer. After 3 new tries...I'm spent.

While these shoes are true to size, my heels and toes hurt after a day in these. I previously wore Merrell's Yakota style. They were my favorite and I wore out 3 pairs over the years. Alas, they have been discontinued. I am still searching for a comfortable replacement. MOAB 2 are not the ones for me.

I have owned a pair of last model Moab Ventilators for over 10 years. I absolutely loved those shoes. Gear look, very comfortable and durable. I bought a new pair of the Ventilator 2's and are not as comfortable as my last pair but more importantly they squeak like crazy which is very annoying. It appears to be an issue with the laces or loops used for the laces. I've read the bulletin from Merrrll about adding powder and non-sense like that to stop the squeak but never had to do that in 10 years with the last model so should not for these either. Also, if that helped, it would only be temporary and need to be done periodically which is not acceptable. I expect more from Merrell. I own multiple other pairs of Merrell which I love but very dissatisfied with the new Moab Ventilator 2's.

I have worn Merrell Moab for years. It has been my go-to walking shoe for years due to width, sturdy stole, and styling. Just got a new pair and they look great but don't quite fit. Pulled out old pair and saw that they made some subtle changes to styling that make it a little narrower at the ball of the foot. I am so disappointed! Is there any where I can buy Moab as they used to be? Thanks a lot Merrell.

The fabric tape lacing loops lasted four months before breaking the first one, the second broke after another two months, making the boot unusable. Using tape for lacing loops is a fatal design flaw for a serious outdoor boot. Metal grommets in leather, Merrell...

Merrell has changed (for the worse) their Moab shoes over the years. Arch has moved back toward the heel. The width has increased (at one time Wide was just right but now too wide). Sole has become soft and bumpy to the bottom of my feet when I stand on a hard smooth surface. Also they smell bad right out of the box even though they appear to be brand new and unworn by anyone. Not a good hiking shoe any more - what a shame. Now I have to find another brand.
